Psychology is definitely non-science. That other course, if it is taught by the Bio department, like you say, you could probably get away with listing as science, even though it sounds like it was a non-science course.baylormed said:Do Psychology courses count as Other Science? or Non-Science?
Does my Lit/Phi of Medicine course count as a biology course because that's how it's on my transcript (BIO 4325)? or as Non-Science?
Anastasis said:Has anyone submitted yet?
Me too. I still have to finish editing my PS and write that third essay.Pemberley said:No, I'm still trying to figure out how to claim that I will contribute "diversity" of experience to the student body without sounding like I think I know more than everybody else...
By the way, do they confirm transcript receipt like AMCAS does, or do we just have to kind of hope everything has happened as it ought to have done?

I seem to recall reading that once you submit the application, you can check on the status of all "supporting documentation," as well as the status of application processing from the TMDSAS web page. I found the place where you do it, but you MUST submit first.
I find the lack of any confirmation of their receipt of my transcripts to be a little nerve wracking too. I suppose I could just call and ask. Fortunately, schools usually have a "Next-Day-Express" transcript service so if anything got screwed up it will only cost a bit of money to fix it.
Oh - I thought we weren't supposed to do that essay unless we were URM or saying we were disadvantaged. Guess I'm further from submitting than I thought. Gotta love the TMDSAS specific instructions about this one:Anastasis said:Oh - I thought we weren't supposed to do that essay unless we were URM or saying we were disadvantaged. Guess I'm further from submitting than I thought. LOL
There is an optional question to allow you to briefly state any unique circumstances or life experiences that are relevant to your application. This area is provided so that you may address any issues, which have not previously been addressed. (This is not an area for you to continue your essay or to reiterate what you've previously stated.)
Excellent! That worked like a charm (and they have all of my transcripts!) Thanks!arroser said:You can check before you submit. Just go here and login.
I think this question (the "well-rounded student body one") screams out to non-trads, so, yeah, I am going to fill it out. IMHO traditional (and not URM, etc) students might want to condiser leaving something like this blank unless they could really think of some non-B.S. things to write. But what do I know, I am applying this cycle along with everybody else.Anastasis said:But you guys are going to fill it out? I have some things I could say about being a non-trad and how living abroad gave me a different perspective but I dunno if they'll like that or not.
I was hesitant to put my abroad experience there because it says something like "not listed elsewhere" and I put it as an EC and talked about it in my PS. I think I'm leaving the unique experience thing blank.jota_jota said:I think this question (the "well-rounded student body one") screams out to non-trads, so, yeah, I am going to fill it out. As far as living abroad goes, I'm not sure if that wouldn't make for a better "unique experiences" essay (i.e. the other optional essay topic) but if you already have a topic for that, then you could probably make it work.
OSUdoc08 said:No, it won't make much of a difference. It will make a difference if you start holding over to August, since your application will get approved around the same time as all of the people taking the August MCAT. It will cause a lengthy hold up.
cutievans said:Hey there, I am takin the August MCAT, its my first MCAT and I am applyin for 07. Even if I send in my app early how late is my application gonna reach the schools?
OSUdoc08 said:Remember that the application can take up to 2 months to process. If you recieve your MCAT scores in September, you'll need to have had your application submitted by July.
This is assuming that there are no glitches. My application was returned 3 times for modifications before it was accepted. I also had a delay due to the recommendation letters not being sent in promptly by my recommenders.
Request that your transcripts & recommendations be sent in immediately, and get your application in before July.
cutievans said:Holy freakin crao, that was a quick reply. K i'll get my app in before July, thanks a bunch 🙂 . btw does anyone know how hard it is to get into UNT TCOM?
OSUdoc08 said:I had a 3.4 GPA and a 28 MCAT (29 with the best scores of each section) and didn't even recieve an interview at TCOM.
(I interviewed at Baylor, by the way.)
Apply out of state as well, just to make sure you get in somewhere.
I'm having my committee chair fill that out so I'm only having 1 TMDSAS evaluation form being sent.DOC G. said:If I have 3 professors doing LOR's do they need to fill out the TMDSAS Evalution form?

Oh <bleep>! In the back of my mind I was afraid of something like that.Pemberley said:I just converted my AMCAS personal statement into the 80 characters-per-line format and realized that it's WAY too long! I've got to go cut out 20% of it.Am I the only dummy that hadn't actually worked out the implications (it wasn't a straight 4960 character limit)?
I am going to no-kidding edit this essay, write the other essay, and submit on Monday.
jota_jota said:Oh <bleep>! In the back of my mind I was afraid of something like that.
Is there a way to set up Word to mimic the box on the TMDSAS application?
EDIT: I guess using a fixed-width font and setting the margins appropriately would do the trick, right?
Yeah I had that problem last week. Hope you got it figured out!Pemberley said:I just converted my AMCAS personal statement into the 80 characters-per-line format and realized that it's WAY too long! yourmom25 said:i'd say cut off the last character on the prefix. i always thought the schools/TMDSAS would use your listing to verify your transcript, and if that's true, they should be able to figure it out from a 3 letter prefix.
I don't think so, but I don't remember the guidelines offhand. They talk about this in the instructions for the application, however.Jetr0 said:This is probably an obvious question as well, but I just want to make sure I don't mess anything up. I started college with 28 AP credit hours, so after my first semester I fall in the 30-60 hour range. Does this mean I list my 2nd semester classes as "So"?
From your screen name, I will assume that you go/went to UT. Sounds like you got an "Academic Summary" (free) instead of an official transcript ($10.) You need to suck it up and pay the $10 to get a copy of your official transcript for yourself. The courses are listed differently on the transcript than they are on the "academic summary." Then, list your courses as they appear on your transcript (they are NOT grouped according to department on your official transcript.)DianaUT06 said:So it specifically says to NOT group your course work by department and to go by your transcript. But my transcript IS grouped by department...do I go chronologically and then in alphabetical or what?
Yeah, I think it's stupid that UT can't just do that.Anastasis said:Silly t-sips.
We get can get an unofficial transcript generated in pdf that looks just like our official transcript. It's really nice actually; It made figuring out my science gpa really easy.
That's how I did it.hope12 said:How to show college class during HS on application?
For example on AMCAS--you show HS
on TMDSAS---FR???
It signifies whether that was the last time you took the class or not. The TMDSAS instructions, and my post a few pages back in this very thread go into more detail.Zuerst said:For the course work portion of the application, what's "Last Time Taken" for?
Thanks,
I hate you for submitting, but at least I am mostly done with my secondaries, nyah, nyah!Anastasis said:Well I took the leap and submitted TMDSAS. Now I get to work on secondaries. Ewwwwwwwww.
chaeymaey said:Wow, I'm so behind on TMDSAS. I filled in next year's classes for Georgetown and that's it. I'm being lazy since I'm taking the August MCAT and I'm still not sure if I'll go to Georgetown, EVMS, or Tulane ACP. At least AMCAS has my essay and activities filled in from last year and I saved my TMDSAS stuff too. I know I'm not starting fresh like y'all, but I totally forget about apps until I come on Pre-Allo.
jota_jota said:Applications ARE NOT sent to any schools until the application is complete, processed, and ALL supporting documentation (transcripts, LORs, and MCAT scores) has been received.
TMDSAS has spoken. I hope that is helpful information...
Good Luck All,
Jota
Those were the EXACT words from the TMDSAS lady. I asked that specific question and got that specific answer.aed said:This is not true, just thought I would clarify...
TMDSAS sends out applications after they have been processed REGARDLESS of what materials they have on your behalf. It's different from AMCAS.
Right, send in your transcripts as early as possible. Mine (from my UG and Grad. school) was received in early May. My transcript from UT was sent over late May, immediately after Spring grades were posted. If your LORs are ready, send those too.Zuerst said:So it pretty much doesnt matter if someone send in transcripts before they submitted the applications online or after...?
