I got in the first day they released it. August 30th, and I'm still waiting for interview... So you are not late at all...Good luck!:xf:

I never received a complete email.

I received one email from them (ignoring payment receipt) on 07/20 stating that my supplemental had been received, and that I should wait 4-6 weeks for processing.

I just called the admissions office five minutes ago and was told that I was approved for an interview and should be hearing from them via email "very soon". 🙂

Wait so you sent in the secondary before being asked to for TouroNY? I didn't see the secondary online anywhere and the way they are apparently "selective" in who gets a secondary made me unlikely to submit $200 "early"...

Hi guys Im pretty worried about still not getting a secondary. I see that a bunch of you did already. My aacomas was released to them on sept. 6th tho....do you think I still have a chance to get a secondary soon. My stats are not spectacular but I have very good EC's and reccomendation letters.

3.68-overall GPA
3.83-non-science
3.58-science gpa (no retaking of classes)
MCAT-25Q-9PS, 10 BS, 6 VR(dont know what happened)

Please let me know what you guys think 🙂 😛

Please discuss how your background, experience or academic program has prepared you for meeting the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine Mission, Goals, or Objectives. Limit your essay to 2 pages. Consider addressing a few areas: Why Osteopathic Medicine? Why Harlem? Have you been exposed to a diverse environment? How did you contribute? How have your academic background and personal experiences prepared you for medical school? How were you influenced by a shadowing experience?

Secondary email received: 8/30
Secondary mailed: 9/6
Secondary received email: 9/11

Edit: Has anyone that received a secondary received email titled "Supplement​al Application and Fee" not had their check cashed? I am wondering why they would acknowledge the receipt of the fee without actually having their money.

Primary - waited to hear back about my MCAT score (which greatly improved) until I submitted. I was scared they would see my old scores and reject me solely because of that.

Crossing my fingers.
 
Hey guys! Just got my secondary today. Just thought I would share my timeline so far
AACOMAS submitted-July 25th
AACOMAS released to Touro-Sept 6th
Touro Secondary recieved-9/13

Does anyone know if secondary=interview for Touro???? I hope so!!!

+1 on the timeline, I got my secondary today, too.

As far as the interview, no, that no longer applies according to previous debate.

I actually sent them a fee waiver and I had the same subject title. I also received that confirmation email 9/11.

The email stated "The Admissions Department will review your file in the order in which it has been received."

So has anyone else received that confirmation email before 9/11? Im sort of curious if we're the first ones on that list..lol

I got the secondary on 8/30 and I mailed it out within a few hours. I got the confirmation email on the 5th. The only thing that is bugging me is that I haven't sent in a LOR from a physician yet, and they have made no mention of that.

TOUROCOM's website says that interviews are held "following the completion of the supplemental application," so I hope they'll still interview me while my doctor takes her time with the LOR 🙁
 
does anyone know how long it's gonna take before they give out iis?
 
Unfortunately Touro sucks at depositing checks in a timely manner. It took several months for them to cash mine when I went through the interview process. As long as they say they got it, that's all you need.

That's a GOOD thing for my broke butt! LoL

Can anyone confirm this? It would allow me to send in my completed secondary much sooner. I'm out of money and maxed out one credit card.

my timeline:

AACOMAS released to Touro- 7/13

Touro Secondary received- 8/30

secondary completed and mailed: 9/3 I think?

Confirmation email that I was complete and fee received: 9/7

thanks. i went ahead and submitted. if they cash earlier than expected, i'll just have to follow people during lunch and pull the "you gunna eat that?" card. LoL

haha i'll be right there with you...i just bought some interview wear and paid utility bills and combined with the check i sent my bank account is looking pretty bare right now

Ah the joys of making enough to not qualify for fee waiver, but making less than enough to eat well AND apply to med school. 🙂

10 bio should get you an interview. Its really the only section they look at.
 
any insider to spit a word or two about when the interview invites are gonna be sent?
 
I think they are closed until Wednesday for the Jewish holidays. Same with touro ca. I'm going crazy waiting over here!!!

Last year, Secondary were sent out on August 20th while II were sent out on Sep. 13th. Since this year secondary were sent out on August 30th, I guess we still need to wait another 5 days. I feel you, this waiting game sucks...🙁
 
In general....how long was the secondary essay you guys wrote?
Did all of you write two pages....single or double spaced??
 
so from my knowledge they interview about 90% of people that receive secondaries? is that right?

It's been extensively debated earlier in the thread. It seems that this year will be different than years' past; we'll have to wait and see.
 
I really hope that most people who get secondaries get interviewes ! I guess we have to wait and see but this wait is getting harder 🙁!

It's a bit of a double edged sword--the more people interviewing, the greater the competition.

Sorry if this was covered before (I didn't see anything from this year), does anyone have any numbers on how many people are interviewed and how many are accepted?

I'm told that verbal is the only section ever really considered due to some study that correlates high MCAT verbal scores to more successful performance on the USMLE

Earlier in this thread someone said that 6,000 appliations and 800 secondaries. That would
Make only about 13%... So I'm not sure if that is accurate. The class is about 135 with some seats for those who deferred and masters stdents from
Touro.

In response to some posts, I submitted application and fee the day I received it and STILL no check cashed (somewhat thankful for that). Also, yes, the whole MCAT verbal score thing is more predictive of performance on future exams as well as success as a physician -- I believe this is primarily related to reading comprehension as well as relating to processing massive amounts of information in a short time (this also makes me feel better about my scores haha). I'll definitely post again as soon as I hear anything...or surely when my bank account is overdrawn...

Good news for me - I got my highest score on the verbal section (10).
 
Just an FYI- I am a first year and supposed to be doing tours for your interview days (so hopefully I will see some of you!). Last I heard, no interviews have been scheduled yet but the first dates should be in October. I interviewed early December last year and got in.
