Did anyone get OOS waitlist email?? I didn't get anything today and sounds like a lot of OOS acceptances came today (congrats everyone!!)

I assume you checked your spam box? If you don’t have anything I’d give ASA a call Monday. It’s after 5 already so they’re out of the office already I believe.

Funny thing is I had scheduled a file review the same day I got my waitlist call :laugh:
Scheduled in the morning for the following day and got the call that afternoon

It started as an in-joke a long time ago while watching a Ray Harryhausen movie where there was a claymation giant vulture that was actually super nice (can't remember what it was- Sinbad? Clash of the Titans?).

imo vultures sadly have a bad rep even though they're magnificent birds and also very important for a healthy environment 🙁

In classroom, no. Clinics may be different, but the new student guidelines wont be available for a few weeks. So cant clarify beyond that. Lol.

Yes I checked all the different tabs I could when I heard people got emails today lol. I am wondering if they are maybe going down the same line of how they sent out interview times because it took me a LONG time to get my interview time compared to when everyone else got theirs (I think it was a week after the initial emails went out).. I'll just have to wait for Monday to see if I get an email, hopefully, then go from there if I need to contact them or not... I know another person who got their interview time late (same day as me) and they didn't get an email today either
 
IS ACCEPTED!!! This was my third year applying I was waitlisted both years before. Don’t give up hope!! This means so much to me I can’t believe it. Best day ever! Congratulations everyone!!!

I use an iPad for notes but can’t use it for examsoft exams so I still have to have my old MacBook Pro for that. I like being able to write on powerpoints so if you learn better by writing vs typing definitely get something with that kind of capability.

I'd say most people have either a macbook pro, a lenovo yoga, or a microsoft surface of some variation.
I know some people with macs had issues with examsoft (our exam software) in the past, but I personally can't comment on how bad that actually was or if it's still an issue or not. I don't think I've seen any emails about that for a long time.

I have a clunky gaming laptop but it has great memory and fits the computer requirements.

I use a refurbished microsoft surface pro I bought in the summer of 2016. Still works fine. I bought a tera-byte hard drive to keep memory free.
 
Does anyone happen to know if you will get reimbursed the $500 deposit to be put on the alternate list if you don’t get in?

Yeah no there’s no deposit for the waitlist. You may have been sent the wrong form. You only pay that deposit if initially accepted or if you get called off the waitlist.
The alternate list form has a check box for “yes keep me on the alternate list” or “no remove me from it” and a spot for a good summer mailing address and such that you need to send back by April 15th and there is no fee with it.

Dr. Foreman specified in the info session that you don’t have to pay the $500 deposit to be on the waitlist, only if you get in! I would think you were sent the wrong form if you got anything asking for a deposit - call ASA to check.

Vet Med specific stuff will be available through clubs, like Ski said. I would honestly set a budget. There will be stuff anywhere from 15 or 20 bucks, all the way up to $110 for Patagonia stuff. So budget over the summer and save up for swag and club fees.

For regular Illini swag, there's Gameday Spirit and Tee-Shurt, both found near Green Street. I have stuff from both.

I just googled apartment complexes :laugh:
There’s also the vet med free and for sale page where people will post their houses they’re moving out of that are up for lease or people will post looking for roommates. I know there are some property management companies with apartment complexes that you can also look at, but I personally have not worked with any of them.

A lot of vet students do live at The Village at Colbert Park in savoy though!

You can make an ISO post if you want! Quite a few people do that and get a lot of responses.

Did anyone save the dates that they posted during the presentation? There were only a few, mostly around orientation, etc.
Another question for current students because I love calendars- Does anyone have an example academic calendar from past years? I'd love to see how the schedule actually plays out with exams, breaks, and etc.

I believe orientation begins Aug 17th and first day of classes is the 24th
