UF c/o 2023 applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thats what I was thinking too I’m trying to push it out of my mind until then (obviously Im failing because Im on SDN but oh well )

Someone noted earlier that the trend from past years was 11, 5, snd 10 days after the last interview they send out decisions so im crossing my fingers the trend continues on

I looked back on past years and those days aren’t correct. It was almost a month the year before last. Last year was 10 days.
2 years ago the interviews went well into February, so it was actually still about 10 days after their last interview that they were notified.

Did going to the meet and greet have any effect on our interview? I was unable to go🙁

No, there was no attendance or anything like that. It was just a casual setting to talk to people. Don’t worry if you didn’t go

Many people had to leave right after the interview to catch their flight so don’t worry if you didn’t go to the meet and greet 🙂

Does anyone know if they call for acceptances? I heard that at some schools they call if you are accepted, and you get emailed if you are waitlisted/denied...

Is anyone from UCF? And what other places did you apply to/hear back from?

Me! Graduated there in 2015 and took a few classes to up my GPA in 2017/18. I applied to SGU, LMU, VAMD, UF, and Iowa. Only schools I have heard from are SGU and VAMD as far as decisions go.

Another UCF grad here! But I graduated in 2010 and have been taking science pre-requisites for vet school the last year and a half at a university in Denver, CO. Go Knights!

I dont know how strictly this is followed but in the letter the interviewees received (in the folder on interview day) it says decisions should be emailed by early March (but I really hope for sooner lol)

Historically, applicants were let known acceptance decisions around 10 days after the last interview.

Last year we just got an email acceptance. I never got a formal paper acceptance in the mail either.

Question for all of you already at UF CVM... what made you choose UF?

Question for all of you already at UF CVM... what made you choose UF?

Honestly, it's my IS and my cheapest option, so the dress code could have been clown shoes and I still would have come here.

That having been said, I absolutely love it. I'm large animal focused and our opportunities in that area are fantastic, even as first years. I can't stand the cold so I love that I was able to stay in Florida. I like the small town feel of Gainesville while there's still plenty to do, especially if you're an outdoorsy person. And the clinic structure is somewhat unique and a positive quality for me. We enter clinics at the end of second year and I've heard nothing but good things about that from uperclassmen.

This was my instate so the tution was nice and proximity to my family was great (only 3 hours away). That being said I believe I’d chose UF as my first choice even if I didn’t live here. I am shelter oriented and they have a fantastic shelter program. Many schools still do not recognize the importance for additional focus on shelter med. I also loved their program structure and their focus on mental health. I liked that the interview process was so low pressure. I felt like they really wanted us here. The students all seemed happy with their choice too. I know I made the right choice and I love UF CVM!

Surprisingly, when I applied UFCVM was NOT my first choice. But after interviews, and tours, and meeting faculty I was completely won over by UFCVM. The clinicians here really love teaching, and want you to succeed. It's a school that is focused on the students. Also, Gainesville is a pretty relaxed area to live in.

Does anyone remember what UF’s dress code is for the classroom?

We're basically told to look presentable! We had an exam today so I rolled in wearing leggings and a hoodie but other days I'll wear scrubs. Some people wear business casual, others wear leggings and a sweatshirt every day, as long as you don't wear pajamas they're pretty lenient.

Are we giving up on today yet the anticipation is killing meeeee
