Yeah, same thing for me...most are for my ECs, too, but my MySpace account pops up...and my friends say not so professional things on there. Nothing bad or inappropriate, but not great either. Maybe it just shows how we are also humans, too, and not just robots that live their lives to just get into med school? Or are we, since we are constantly trying to make sure nothing negative pops up about us, and if anything does, we try to delete it?

I hate this process. I think I just finalized my "moving on" state of mind. Damn MySpace...why are you popping up now?! Does this mean people are actively searching for me on MySpace? Creepy.

If I were a violent person, there would be a hole in my wall right now.

I think instead of worrying about whether or not the adcoms are watching this thread we should really be asking ourselves why there are so many people logged onto this site at this hour on a Saturday night.
 
Seriously, if I was the adcom, I wouldn't accept us! Not only are we dull for not being out but we are publicizing it.

Yeah, well...what else would we be doing? Any photographic documentation of things normal 20-some-odd-year-olds would do that may be remotely incriminating would be held greatly against us...So, let's play it safe and stay at home...and watch the SDN thread grow.
 
I called Ann a couple of weeks ago and she gave me confirmation that the waitlist would be released this upcoming Monday. Since then I have heard many different things from a lot of my pre-med friends stating otherwise. For the time being the waitlist is supposed to be released on Friday the 13th, correct?
 
I don't know about you all, but tonight's discussion has been intensely hilarious. Especially Protein's 'don't post this' diatribe...I laughed pretty hard at that one.

I've never used myspace, and never will. My Facebook profile is private to my friends only. When googling myself, "[mathlink] is on Facebook..." comes up, and you can see my profile picture (currently my wife's ultrasound at nine weeks, so pretty non-incriminating) and a few of my friends. After that, my first name is the same as the name of a major car company and a former president of the United States, as well as some child chess champion, which is not me. So if they think I'm some kind of genius kid, or some former president who freed all the slaves, that can only help. Other than that, I'm not googleable.

Seriously, though, what's with all the paranoia? Whether or not the ADCOM reads this thread should be irrelevant. I just gave my name away, and I don't care. We shouldn't really have anything to hide. They run background checks on us anyway, don't they? I don't think they would hold very much we say here against us unless we are the subject of protein's post. They probably gathered most of what they want to know about our personalities from our interviews and personal statements anyway, so we might as well say whatever we want to say, or whatever makes us feel better.

One curious note, though, for those of you who have been accepted. What was the subject line of the acceptance email?

There is a good reason for the 37 hour limit in Denmark:
Don't they wear wooden shoes or something there? I forget what they're called. But imagine wearing that in the hospital for 36 hours straight! Can you say splinters........😱
 
Well, everyone, it is getting very close now...just 2-3 days left till midweek, which is when the waitlist will be released according to Ann and Tanisha. I hope you all have great success. This has been quite a roller coaster ride, and it has been exciting to hear of those who did get in. I feel that I know you guys so well and have gotten to know your personalities. Maybe I'll see some of you next year on this board. For now, sit back, relax, think of the journey to come, stop and smell the roses, look up at the sky, stop taking things for granted. We will be doctors, eventually.
 
I agree. Of all the other schools I've applied/interviewed at, this thread has by far been the most entertaining for me, and I didn't even get in!! (or maybe that's why, lol). Just waiting for Biteme or Protein to chime in with something :laugh:... and I'm sure there will be more to come this week. Good luck everyone :xf:
 
I had a dream the other night that I got in at Tucson but on the first day of school, I was chased all over the building by a ninja. Is that a good or bad thing?

I'm feeling 14 at Tucson and 22 at Phoenix. Yay for positive thinking!

Until then, I'm gonna be undergoing intensive anti-ninja training...
 
I'm feeling a rejection for me. Argh. I've second guessed everything and even parts of my application that I thought were strengths now seem perhaps to be only average.

The irrationally hopeful side of me still thinks maybe I'll get a waitlst, but the realist in me knows I'll need to schedule an appt to review my app with Tanisha and most likely start studying for the MCAT again.
 
I'm hoping for a decent waitlist number at Tucson since they have so many more students but at the same time when I think about how there are another ~450 of us hoping for this it makes me doubt I'll make it into the top 60 of that group....

Alas "midweek" cannot come soon enough. I need some closure so I can start preparing myself for the next stage of life, wherever it may be.

now that made me laguh.

On a side note I was at Axis Radius a few weeks ago and I'm walking around and I see this due wearing a cowboy hat like he's straight up out of Walker Texas Ranger. I get closer and he has a beard and I'm like Oh My God!
So I run back, grab my buddies and we go to find him again and he's just walking up into the VIP area like he owns the place...
We ask the bouncer and confirm...it was Chuck Norris!

Hmrmmph. That's weird. I had this vivid dream where I didn't get accepted to any medical school, the ground opened up, and I fell for a long time down a deep, dark hole. After what seemed like ages later, I woke up in a dank prison cell. Someone shoved a dirty pan of gruel under the door along with an MCAT study guide. I completely lost it, right there. Covered with gruel, now salted with my tears, I threw the guide up and out through a tiny barred window, high near the ceiling. After a few seconds, I heard a splash, and the hyena-like bark of sea lions. Laughing at me.

Continuing on to Chapter 4 ...

After having finished my ju-jitsu training session my Master/prison-mate quickly entered the tunnel connecting our cells. I covered the opening with the loose block just before the guard entered to deliver my weekly beating.

Chapter 7...

After many compressed semester-equivalents, my training was finally complete. Though my master soon entered hospice, the wheels were already set in motion, with me well-prepared for my mission with a single-minded intent. I stealthily escaped from the cell using a tunnel which took many unit-hours to dig out. The plan was to infiltrate the UofA CoM and to randomly pull out an unsuspecting student on the first day, and to use him take my place in the prison. Things were coming along just dandy as I chased him through the buildings, until he started screaming... annoyingly screaming like a little school girl, "OMG!!! eeeeeeeeeee!! OMG, omg, it's CHUCK NORRIS!" It was just too weird, so I postponed my mission and went back to the familiar comfort of my cell to count the blocks again.

I guess I failed to mention the part where I defeated the ninja. During an attack, he attempted to kick me, but I caught his foot, knocked him down, then stomped on his knee with such force that it shattered. Feeling bad for him, I took him for an xray, and upon seeing the results, I counted no fewer than fifty pieces. I promise I'm not making any of this up.
 
^^^Future radiologist in the making. A couple of weeks ago I dreamed Miley Cyrus got a 45T on the MCAT.

Acceptance at Phoenix!!!!!!! Sent at 4:30 today and I just checked! I am sooooo excited..I was sure I was going to get rejected after waiting for so long...but seriously guys, I had a 25 MCAT and they still were able to see my strengths in other areas...Don't give up!

would people mind posting their numbers, even for those who havnt heard anything yet?
im retakin the mcat in june, just need an idea of what to shoot for

Hahahaahahah....you're funny! Interesting though...I have a test tomorrow and I cannot study for NOTHING. Thanks you guys for all your congrats..I truly feel like finally one of the underdogs is on top! I can't wait till more of us can celebrate! I know it will happen for some of u! If I can do it..Invitro, Protein, Zissou, all of u can do it..from the kind of people I can see you are on here. Good luck this week guys!
 
Haha thanks Cuddy. Since your studying I'll summarize the article for you.

Best way to cure hangovers.
1- Gatorade- Takes care of dehydration and hypoglycemia.
2- Multivitamin- Helps replenish B12
3- NSAIDs
Lets hope we all get a chance to test this out this week!

To those who don't drink indulge in some Cold Stone or whatever!

Every time an acceptance goes out, someone from this list gets one. It is sooooooooo exciting to see who will get a coveted waitlist spot. :corny:
 
Formula for rejection letter:

BIG BIG BIG Energy drink...
Lift Weights
Go on treadmill or other piece of cardio equipment for an hour.

Oh and blast that ipod as loud as it will go with noise-isolation headphones in place.

I read somewhere that amphetamines act as pain killer and it's sort of true. I had a rough summer last year...working 70-80 hours a week...going to class at night to become an EMT, doing some volunteer work etc. It was seven days a week straight. And then one day I finally had a day off and it just felt so good to guzzle some coffee and head to the gym and just run and have noone bother me. It was like all the aches and pains (my back was killing me) went away for a few hours and I felt even more releaxed when I was done.
It's like a spiral of self-destruction.
Don't workout and eat junky food b/c you're depressed...feel crappy from junky food so don't work out and get bored and eat more junky food....

That's right about the time I e-mailed Dr. Hernández telling them I was giving up my Phoenix spot to attend Tucson 😉
 
Hey guys, what time do the waitlists get sent? By looking at last year, the times are all different...some even received notice at 1am??? Did Tucson give them at 9am?

Any day now...

For me it seemed like Tucson sent the rejections around 9 and Phoenix was closer to 10. I assume the waitlists went out about the same time.

It's a good thing I don't drink, or this week would be just as hard on my liver as it has been on my psyche. And the best part is that it's only Tuesday! Hooray for insanity!
 
I spoke to Ann today, and she confirmed that the UA-Tucson's waitlist/rejections are coming out tomorrow. The waitlist rank number will also be available. She's not sure about the Phoenix campus though.

Thanks for checking! Although this has only helped to aid my anxiety. But that makes the puppy happy b/c that means we're going for a run in the park and she can go chase ducks and stuff.

I just got off the phone with Phoenix. She said that WL comes out "in the middle of march", but they don't have an exact date yet. Good luck everyone!!!! I hope we all are blessed with high WL numbers tomorrow!

I hope so too.. my fantasy is that all of us SDNers still waiting for a response are going to be in the top 20 on the WL! (hmm, or would it be considered bottom 20?) 🙂

I'm really hoping not to have to retake the mcat tho i didnt take it quite seriously the 1st time... i can't seem to find many people's mdapps, so how many people here scored above a 30 and have not been accepted?

Probably a lot. A few on this thread have also been accepted with sub-30 MCATs so I'm not sure if that's the best indicator of knowing anything with this school...
