I can only hope!!!! But the waitlist has been moving so DAMN slow lately that it's hard for me to get my hopes up. Even though I'm SOOO close... it still doesn't feel real!! I'm sure it will once I get my phone call. Good thing i always keep my phone charged since I feel useless without it...

I almost half a bakers dozen away from my hopefull acceptance. Hopefully I hear good news by the time school ends so I can have a carefree summer.

YAY CONGRATS LOVEMED! Seems like yesterday the WL numbers came out and you were asking if you even had a chance!!

I think someone should call in like 2 hours and see if there is any more amazingness happening for people past lovemed for the day!

I am trying to protect my anonymity (hereicome scares me) by saying my waitlist number is in the 30's.

But I have an alternative choice that I might pursue - though I would miss hanging out with such a great group of people.

I know what you mean about anonymity. I'm trying to preserve that until I actually get in! (I'm actually more scared of MadEvans...hehehe...jk)

And what is this alternative choice business? Well, whatever it may be, I know you'll be successful. 👍 But, I'm pretty sure you're gonna get in this year, so...these great people are going to be around to make med school a bit more fun. 😛

Does anyone know what is up with Phoenix? Nonlocality's projections are only for Tucson, right? I'm just curious as to if anyone knows if people are being accepted off the waitlist to Phoenix - do they even release waitlist numbers? Just wondering 🙂

Nope PHX doesn't release wait list numbers. I think the last phx acceptee mentioned on SDN was 4ANR6N, which was back in March or so. There seems to be heaps of Tucson fanatics on SDN, which surprises me that no one has mentioned an acceptance from the wait list in Phx due to its seeming lack of fervor. Hopefully I (or somebody else, but hopefully me) can give news here soon since there's been a bit of movement on the Tucson side that just may translate to movement on the Phx side.

But, I dunno... I'm pretty detail-oriented myself. Except when it comes to directions. I'll be the first to admit I'm terrible with directions.

Yeah, I am REALLY jealous. Maybe I should try to go see him...I have friends who are graduating...
 
Nevermind. He's going to speak on Wednesday, May 13th. I have final on that day and the day after...an 8am final exam on the day of my graduation. AWFUL.
 
hah i'm in the same boat... i have a final at 7:30am the morning of ASU's graduation... and is anyone else pissed we have to be there 4 hours before the ceremony starts?? to do what.. lol

In response to the Phx waitlist, there was a 2 week time difference between when acceptances were sent out and when rejections/WL were sent. I got my acceptance on the day they sent out WL, and I know a few others were in this boat too, which means I was probably waitlisted, but got pulled off the waitlist before they released those emails... so I think that's why less people are getting waitlist calls.

But for encouragement, I went to Phx's second look and only 30 people were there (out of 48) and I know for a fact a few of those 18 missing people are not choosing Phx.. so don't give up hope!!!

If you're talking about the big commencement ceremony, then the 4 hours is probably for security purposes because of Obama...that's all right though...at least you'll see the president! 👍
 
What does "still on #24" mean?

Lovemed was 23 and she got a call monday. Does 24 mean that is the next one up or has #24 already been given a call/offfer?

23 have been accepted, so they are waiting to give #24 the next spot. When you ask them, they state it exactly as I did in the post above.
 
I guess that explanation confuses me.

When they were asked before what the waitlist number given meant they would say that, that number has already been contacted with an offer.

It is a different matter whether/when they ultimately accept. I am assuming that there is a yield rate on the waitlist offers of about 80%, so that not all who are offered accept.

So when you called indy, I am assuming they said they were at #24? Their statement, I assume implies that #24 has been contacted with an offer and has not yet accepted.

For some reason this seems to be such a confusing issue but it is very simple. I was told "we are waiting to accept #24." From now on, we should state that the wailist is 1 + (number of people accepted through) as that person is the next one in line to be accepted. I understand why this is relevant to nonlocality as it allows us to determine if people on the waitlist are declining spots.
