Hey guys,

I just got off the waitlist at UTSW and now I have quite a dilemma. I personally liked the UVa school better than UTSW , but UTSW will probably cost me about $15-20k less a year ((I will call to get my financial package tomorrow),). Can anyone give me some input between these two schools (student life, matching etc.?)

Sorry for the short description. I'm kind of scrambling right now. Any info would be much appreciated.

Do you like UVa significantly more? I would pick UTSW - cheaper and more prestigious.

I would pick UTSW too. Also, you can think about the location as well.

shouldnt even be a decision UTSW hands down. A school that is equally if not more prestigious, on the rise, and a savings of 80k or so? I mean is this should be simple unless you loathe the idea of texas.

I think UVa has a superior curriculum structure for the incoming first years, but I've read how cheap UTSW can be and I'd imagine there'd be a significant cost differential between the two. $20k is actually a little on the low side of what I predicted.

As far as matching would go, I think they'd be pretty equal, except in their respective regions. If you want to match in Texas, that might be something to consider. UVa's student body is pretty chill, and I've heard UTSW's is as well. A big draw to me is UVa's new condensed curriculum, as it frees up more time in the later years for extra electives and research. I'm pretty undecided about what field I like and I want to do a project abroad, so this extra time really appeals to me. I withdrew from a school that'd cost me $100k less because of this attraction. However, it was also a very low-ranked school, nothing like UTSW, and I didn't like it very much to begin with.

$80k+ is a lot of money... but maybe your happiness is worth that, if you liked it that much more than UTSW?
