Hi everyone!
Just got into Vandy off the waitlist =) Trying to decide between Vandy and Pitt, and would love to hear what y'all think. Both are equally far from home =( I'm fortunate enough where money isn't a huge factor in this decision. Here's what I thought about both schools:

Vandy:
Loved the people, environment, curriculum, smaller class size. Don't want to get stuck in the south for residency. I've also heard negative things about the social cliquiness of the school (but I didn't go for second look so I don't know if this is actually true)

Pitt:
Better ranked in primary care and various specialties. Had less-than-stellar experiences at second look and interview visits.

Any specific comments on how residency matching is for both of these schools, as well as the student body environment would be much appreciated. thanks!!

IDK where you're coming from but Pitt generally matches better nationally than Vandy, where most grads stay in the south. GL choosing!

Both are great schools. From only your descriptions, I would pick Vandy.

PS: their new curriculum sounds very cool

I don't think you will be held back matchwise whether you go to Vanderbilt or UPitt. Both have good research. That being said what less than stellar experience did you have at UPitt? Are both schools P/F?

Sounds like you like Vandy more. Vandy and Pitt have essentially equivalent levels of stellar reputation. You're not stuck in the South if you go to Vandy, much like you're not stuck in Western PA if you go to Pitt.

Pitt and Vanderbilt are both fine schools. I'd say go where you liked the school and location better, rather than perceived academic prestige.

Other than staying at Vanderbilt, very few people actually stay in the South for residency. For the most recent match, more people matched to Boston programs than stayed in the South at a institution other than Vanderbilt.
