Your totally awesome pets...(post photos!)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
These are my two boys. I had another dog, but I recently found a new home for him. He was climbing out of my yard and getting destructive in the house during the day, so I found someone who could dedicate more time to him!

The first one is Parker, my Dorkie (dachshund/yorkie cross). He is the cuteness that never ends :) He is by far the coolest dog I've ever owned, and I'm not even really a small dog person :) He's about 10 months old.

Second is Toby. He's a Cavalier King Charles, and super super sweet. Very cute, of course, but not the brightest crayon in the box. He does "ok" with training because he wants to please...just not super smart. And he's WAY more active than I expected him to be! He's about 9 months old.

And the last one is Toby lying on top of Parker on their doggie bed. Gotta love the two geeks :) They're hilarious together!

Here's Callie! They say she's a Boxer/Beagle mix, but I'm starting to think she has some pit in her because of her body build now that she's gained a little weight.

Old pictures from the end of last summer, but she still looks the same :p

Well, I managed to convince my parents to let me get a dog before moving to Mississippi. I now present to you the most well-behaved new dog anyone has ever had! I named him Doogie (as in Doogie Howser), but mostly refer to him as Doog or Dooger. He's a one and a half year old spaniel/golden retriever mix.

As you can tell from that last pic, he's already made himself quite at home!

Here's my Silky (Dexter) and my sisters Chihuahua X (Jax) with their matching Christmas PJ's hahaha yeah I know we have issues :)

Owning a parrot can be such a humbling experience. I thought it was bad enough when my parrot made noises of soda cans opening and a beeping microwave, but now when I attempt to actually cook, he mimics the smoke alarm!!!!

That's pretty funny... but if it is any consolation, one of my dogs hides in his crate wherever I cook, I guess so he can be in his happy place when the smoke alarm goes off? It does seem to go off more than it should... He also now hides in his crate when I do the dishes too, as I guess it looks a little too much like cooking, and therefore could make the alarm go off! Oops!

Your parrot sounds way more entertaining than my neurotic dog though!

LOL!! That is too funny!! Maybe we both need to learn how to cook if for no other reason than to prevent scaring our own pets!!!

Dogs: Hunter, Lab/Rott, 3.5 years old and Scout, Bernese Mountain Dog, 5.5 months old :)

Cats: Zoey (the siamese color one), 7 years old and Jacob, a male calico, 1 year old :) Both kitties and Hunter are rescues but we bought Scout.

This is Baxter. He's a 3 year old Sheltie. We got him from a family who had given him to their daughter after their son was born. His sole purpose in this family was to be something else for the daughter to beat up on besides the newborn i.e. he was abused. It took me almost 6 months of working with him and training before he was finally able to handle human contact, like petting. when i first got him, if you would try to touch him, he would literally seize up and shake and curl into a little ball anticipating being hit or jumped on or body slammed, because that little girl body slammed him quite a bit. Now he's better but I've till got work to do. He is very expressive though and he loves his big brother.

This is Snoopy. He's an 8 year old Basset hound German Shepard mix and Baxter's big brother. He looks exactly like a basset hound, except 70 pounds and about as tall as a lab and he sheds like crazy. I got him when he was 10 days old. I had to wean him and everything. I got him when I still lived in Arizona and when he was about 16 weeks, he got valley fever and he's had it his whole life. The vet doesn't understand why he didn't die within the first year or even why he's still alive today because the fungus has spread from his lungs to his bones to his skin so you go figure. He has the prettiest eyes you'll ever see but he's so nosy. He's my best buddy ever.

(I just brought him home on wednesday so we haven't named him yet):

PS that's not bad lighting, he's really brown.

So, I can't really claim this guy as my cat since we're currently looking for his owner, but he's in my residence (illegally) for the moment so he needs a post. He's not microchipped, no collar and not neutered, so we're not too hopeful about finding an owner. He is a gorgeous cat, though, and so friendly (and litter box trained) that there is no way he wasn't a pet.

nntljb.jpg

My roommates have named him Bacardi.

I have three babies. Two dogs, a 15 year old cocker spaniel and a 4 year old chihuahua, and a robo dwarf hamster.

This is Biscuit. She's getting pretty old, but she still can run and hop around like a puppy!

Here is Queso. He's such a sweetheart and a total love bug. His gall bladder was removed when he was two and he developed secondary liver disease from complications. He takes 5 pills a day and his medications cost over $1,000 a year. But, he's worth it!

And here's Wendy. She's a little shy, but she will pop out of her igloo if she hears the rustling of the yogurt drop bag. She is also the critter in my avatar.

Warning I have a lot. But I love them all so I can't leave anyone out :)

This is Stinky (his real name is Louis but it just never stuck). He was dropped off with his two brothers at the vet clinic I worked for, and I convinced my mom to let me bring one home. He was the only one of the three that didn't scare the **** out of my dogs by hissing and spitting at them (my dogs weighed about 50lbs each, and were terrified of these 6 week old kittens, it was pretty funny).

These are my two dogs at home: Cody, a 12 year old Australian Shepherd, and Roxanne, a 7 year old pound mutt we inherited when my Aunt passed away when she was only about a year and a half old.

codyrox.jpg

And Cody looking regal, as per usual.

cody.jpg

These are my dogs that stay at school with me: Aiden, an almost 2 year old pound mutt, and Samford the bloodhound. Aiden we got from the humane society, Samford wandered into my yard one day, 30lbs underweight, and his owner claimed that he was going to come pick him up and never did. That was about 3 months ago. I think he's about a year old.

This is my rabbit, Ducky. He was dropped off at Petco free to a good home, so I adopted him. He lived to be about 10, and passed away in 2008.

ducky.jpg

(this was his favorite position, weirdo)

Also, the horse in my avatar was mine until he passed away from colic in 2007. He was a 17hh Russian Warmblood called Ivan, and the best horse in the world.

Sorry that was so long! I just love them all :)

oo so many cute additions to the thread! i love looking at everyone's pics!

Sugargliders- my cat sleeps on my cable box too!!! its impossible to get her off of it, she likes to be very toasty. she even sleeps on it in the summer when our house is 75 degrees lol and then when you pick her up, she is really floppy :)

My pet cheetah Jason:

Ok so he's not technically my pet. But his name really is Jason. Who names a cheetah "Jason"?

What else would you name a Cheetah?

Harley is glad to be able to make someone's crappy day better! Haha it's my favorite pic of him because it looks like he's laughing.

Me and my AMAZING horsey, Bali :) He is my everything. I have had him since he was born, and he is the last of my mom's horses she bred before she retired her stallion. We do western pleasure, reining, cow horse, and english pleasure.

IMG_0416.jpg

This is Lyla, my great dane I rescued about 5 months ago. She was at a city shelter, due to be euthanized within the week. Against my room mates wishes I got her, and they have learned to tolerate her. She has a lot of separation anxiety we are still working through, but she's a good girl. She has scars all over her body from her past life, including one from an embedded collar :(

photo.jpg

This is my Tegan, or Tegan Roo as he is affectionately called. I have had him since he was a 8 week old pup, and he's my precious spoiled brat. He is incredibly sweet and just the best dog anyone could want

SHMITTY2-1.jpg

My kitty, named Schmitty! She was a pound kitty who my mom was originally getting for my grandma but she was wayyy too hyper and young for her so she gave her to me. She likes to cuddle up on your chest and lick your ears. I am not a huge cat person but she comes when called, cuddles 24/7 and is pretty much a dog :) She bosses the dogs around hahaha

annnnd that's my fur family, for now ;)

This is my soulmate, my wonderful guy Gizmo. He is six years old now. He was a quadruplet - mum couldnt keep up with all four of them - so I got him when he was about 3 or 4 wks old. He loves me and hates everyone else, and he is getting grumpier in his old age, but I still love him to death. He means the world to me. He currently lives with my parents as I moved across the country, and couldnt take him with me. so he is 3 - 4 days away, I miss him terribly. Oh, he's an angora goat.

The rest of my herd of sheep (Damaras) and goats (Angora, Boer and dairy) are currently out on free lease since I couldnt bring them here with me. I have stacks of pics on my website (pm me for the link - not sure if I'm allowed to post the link here).

Here in the city I cohabitate with a bird, two cats, a dog and a rat. The bird is mine, the dog, cats and rat belong to my housemates.

This is Ajax, he is a 9 month old Moustache Parrot. Handraised, so very very tame. Just starting to talk a little - I laughed so hard, the other night he said hello for the first time. But no comprehension whatsoever - he was throwing a tantrum and going squark squark screech screech and then he went squark-screech-squark-hello-screech-screech-squark. Just inserted a random english word into his parrot rage LOL

This is Eli, my housemate's 9 month old Kelpie pup, from really good working bloodlines, but has adjusted well to being a city dog. Currently sprawled out across the middle of my bed, forcing me to squish onto the tiniest corner.

This is him RIGHT NOW sprawled out on my bed, dead to the world

This is Fatty, he's about a year old. More like a dog than a cat. Super cuddly. Also super weird. I have woken up to find him licking my ear. And apparently he tries to suckle off my male housemate's nipple. He has a huge tail. And he is on facebook.

27975_101851679864744_100001197371838_14012_7145460_n.jpg

This is his mother, Bubastis (we call her Bastis, or Her Royal Highness Queen Bastini). She is a strange little cat. We think 1/2 persian but not sure. She just rocked up here one day and decided to move in. Again very dog like. Super cuddly. She thinks she owns and rules the house. She also likes to parade around and sit on the table while everyone admires how pretty she is. She also ALWAYS smells like perfume - none of our perfume - not sure where on earth she gets it from. And she likes to watch people in the shower.

30884_400506834797_522259797_4018507_3452028_n.jpg

I dont have a pic of the rat but his name is Rorsharch and he is a champagne hood?? I think thats right. About 5 or 6 months old. Very friendly, likes to hang out in people's hoodies (while you are wearing it).

The first pic of Harley the boxer is so flippin funny. I love it and looks like he would be a character to have around.

And I love this pic of Ausrural sheep "Gizmo"

You guys all have such adorable pets...I need to figure out my camera so I can post some of my buddies pictures
