1. Provide a specific example of how you promoted diversity in your community.

2. "A social justice approach should be central to medicine and utilized to be central to public health. This could be very simple: the well should take care of the sick." – Paul Farmer, M.D.

"Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in healthcare is the most shocking and inhumane." – Martin Luther King, Jr.

How has your view of social justice in medicine been influenced by a specific experience or activity?

3. A physician does many activities during the workday. What physician activity will be most meaningful to you? Provide a specific life experience that affirms the meaningfulness of this activity.

Good luck to everyone applying! :luck:

Has anyone received a NEOMED secondary? Here is last year's link, seems like they were released by this time last year

Just received the secondary. More essays than I was expecting (total of 3).

It should be noted that there is a 2000 character limit for each prompt (including spaces).

for the experiences are u guys just going to list out all the ones mentioned in ur amcas?

Hi, do you guys think this school is worth my time applying to if you're oos?

80% of their class is from the B.S./M.D. route, which if you are OOS then you are definitely in the other 20% which puts you at a disadvantage. And then to make matters worse only 3.5% of their class is OOS... I would save your money unless you are very competitive

3.8, 34 competitive enough?

That's for you to decide how much its worth to you, just be realistic about the uphill battle you will be fighting purely based on the OOS part. I mean I'm applying this year to so take my advice with a grain of salt, I'm not an adcom so I really don't know anything, just what I would do in your situation

I understand. Thank you for the extra perspective though.

I keep getting an error message that I've exceeded a 1350 character limit, but they say the limit is 2,000 and all of my essays are under 2,000 characters including spaces. Is anyone else getting this? happening on both chrome and explorer, tried using wordpad and notepad.

could someone tell me if we just list the same experiences from amcas onto this app?

Getting the same error...ever figure out how to fix it?

Getting the same error...ever figure out how to fix it?

Not sure if this will resolve the issue, as I am using a Mac, but in the supplementary application invitation email it mentioned that Internet Explorer is the best browser to use. Maybe uploading your notepad type document to a flash drive and submitting the essays on a PC would work best.

Do we have anyone that figured out a permanent solution to this "1350 character" problem?

The instructions for the essays includes this:

"We are currently experiencing an error with the essay character limit. If your essay is longer than 1350 characters, you may receive an error when trying to submit your application and you may be unable to submit your application at this time. Your application will not be negatively impacted in any way due to this delay."

I don't think there is anything we can do to bypass this issue, including trying to use a different web browser. I think they need to fix it on their end, which means as applicants, we need to either write below the 1350 limit or wait to submit until the issue is fixed.

I can't think of any experience I have personally had to deal with that has influenced my view on social justice in medicine. Maybe I'm just looking at it from the wrong angle. Anyone have some advice for that prompt?

Pretty dead thread here. Anyone receive interview invites yet?

I wanted to apply here. However, I saw on their site that they require CSU graduates or students who took 30 credit hours there. I am an Ohio resident (OSU grad), kinda mad cause I already paid for the app. I still want to turn in a secondary. Any thoughts? I know this thread is pretty quiet.

There is no requirement to have CSU credits. CSU students to get preferential status if they meet certain criteria...If you look through the admissions requirements at this link it will show you what they require.

Third year at NEOMED, if anyone has questions! PM me or post here.

Wow this thread is pretty inactive. Anyone get interviews from here yet? I've been complete since 9/10 (later than I was finished writing the essays because the site was being buggy, which seems like a common issue they have been having this year).

Complete here too, waiting to hear on an interview as well. Where are you from?

I live in Ohio. Just wondering if Neomed is really backed up this year....

I live in Ohio. Just wondering if Neomed is really backed up this year....

I know of people that applied here last year. All 4 of them had interviews after the new year (I want to say February), were Ohio residents and had average MCAT scores. I believe Direct Entry applicants get interviewed later simply because they need to see how many BS/MD spots are filled since they constitute a majority of the spots here.

To answer your question, couldn't tell you if they're backed up, but from the knowledge I have of last year's process, NEOMED seemingly operates on a later schedule than other programs.

Just got an interview invite a few days ago! I interview next Friday, the 8th!

Has anyone got into NEOMED with a 25 or less MCAT ?

What was their average MCAT scores?

When did you apply?

I'm a current student at neomed and I'll admit, the direct entries score better on the MCAT, but the BS/MD's do much better in classes and boards. I think its honestly because they take the MCAT so early and barely have any time to study for it.... but they are geniuses. They all look so young and everyone underestimates them but when scores come out, theyre always on top. Our class is about half BS/MD and half direct entry so don't loose hope if you're a direct entry.

II here yesterday! We'll see how I like NEOMED!

That's the day I'm scheduled. I guess I'll see you then! What do you mean by recommendation?

Received interview invite for next week! Woohoo!
Complete 10/31

Does anyone know if the committee met this week for end of january/early february interviews like they had originally proposed?? Does anyone know if they are doing acceptance calls this year like they have in years past? Or exactly when letters will be sent out? Thanks!

The admissions and enrollment offices are great, I would just give them a call if I were you!
