2024-2025 Ohio State

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone have any idea when OSU starts their classes/when the white coat ceremony is? Can't seem to find anything anywhere
I believe white coat was on Friday August 9 last year.

Any accepted students who might be willing to do mock interview practice with me? I’m interviewing for the MEDPATH program in April and REALLY want to get in.

Or if anyone has affordable recommendations of someone you engaged with to prep, please DM me.

😀

Just interviewed with Ohio State today, and got an email that says as follows:

“All Regular MD applicants will receive an admission decision on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025. Your VITALS status page will be updated to reflect this decision.”

Seems like we have a bit of a wait coming up.

Bro why can't they just reject me already lol, they're the last thing keeping my cycle from being over and I haven't even interviewed haha

What time are decisions usually released to VITALS portal? Also, do they usually call first, or does the portal update first?

Didn't even know this was an option, do I just send an email?? And thank you!!
Yeah for any school, if you don't want your application to be considered anymore, you can send them an email letting them know. They might still send you a rejection in April though 🤣 , it just depends on how they update it in their system. Its a nice courtesy if you know you wont go to the school if accepted.

for anyone who has been waiting as deferred, would we get an update from the portal or a phone call if it's an A?

Does anyone know if the forms and actions listed on the Admissions Requirements and Policies are required to be filled out to hold my position, or is that to be filled out after I made a decision to commit to OSU?
I’m confused about that too…

Does anyone know if there is an accepted students FB group or GroupMe? There was a GroupMe link earlier in the thread but it is no longer working.

Has anyone heard of a student who got deferred in March and got into OSU? I want to be hopeful but I feel like getting deferred this late in the cycle is a soft R 🥲

I got one today and it said we’d get specifics in the upcoming days. I wonder if they are referring to the ones we applied to in the scholarship universe portal or if this is something different
I think it’s general award package. I also got an email this morning saying it’ll be available soon. I didn’t apply to anything on scholarship universe yet

If I have a CTE deadline at another school of May 2 I have to withdraw from OSU by then (I'm currently deferred), right? Just realized how soon it was and am kinda bummed because I wanted to see if I could get off this waitlist.

Which school has a CTE of May 2nd? That's ridiculous unless they start within the next 3-4 weeks. Yes, you would have to withdraw if you commit to enroll to another school.

Well Regular Decision is officially on Wednesday, so hopefully you’ll get an update on your referral by then. I wish the best of luck!

so does everyone get a result tmrw of either WL, R, or A even if you were deferred from months ago?
Honestly, I am not sure. My understanding was that it was the last "round" of acceptances probably from their last interview day or two. So if you are deferred currently, there is a chance of an A tomorrow. Everyone that hasn't already been rejected and wasn't offered an interview will also most likely get an R tomorrow. I don't think that deferred applicants will be getting R's at this point. I feel like the two options are you either stay deferred or you are accepted. At least that's what I think. Also this is from their website if it helps:

"The deferred list becomes a wait list after April 30. All deferred candidates remain active until orientation."

Update: It looks like someone DID get a R today after being deferred...so ignore above (I guess?)

Got the merit scholarship email late last week and just got the offer details now! 50% tuition
Congrats! If you don’t mind sharing, what components of your application (activities, grades, MCAT, etc.) do you think helped you get the merit scholarship?
