wait...we must compelte the sec. within 3 weeks of receiving it?

question...i'm catholic and Creighton is catholic, but one of the essay asks why we want to attend Creighton. that is my #1 reason but i don't want to make it a common answer. how should i approach this?

No, I was referring to the time it takes for the LOR's to be added to an applicant's file from the date of submission.

" Letters of Recommendation: It takes three weeks from the date you certify your application for your letters of recommendation to be updated to your file."

I think your interest in Creighton's Catholic tradition is worth mentioning, but what you need to do is address specific parts and how each applies to medicine.

For instance, the Jesuit tradition of community service on a global scale or, perhaps, their reputation as teachers. etc.

It says my LORs not received but I got a complete email. wth?

Huh? The only e-mail I received after submitting was in regards to my Visa charge...my LOR's have not been received...

i want a complete email too!! Not just a thanks for your $$$ email. ;)

yeah, I got a complete email today. But on my Status, it says big red X next to Letters Received and the statement says False. I'm so confused.

Maybe someone tipped them off that you think all the casinos are right around the corner.

Sorry lol, I just caught up to this thread. Was a bit amused with the NV business

I just got the complete email too, but still have the giant red X and "false" by LOR's on the status page.

I guess I'll believe the email?? Since it's what I want to hear ;)

Same boat here, received the "complete" e-mail, but still have the "false 'X'" next to my LOR's.

I got a call from another school in regards to future course work because my file was in front of the admissions committee at that moment; however, my status page still said my supplemental application had not been received. I mentioned my observation to the school rep who apologized for missing the check box on my status page. The situation is probably the same here, someone has not physically updated it yet.

Could somebody post the website Creighton suggested for photo resizing? I need it for another one of my applications, but apparently once you submit to Creighton they don't show you that link anymore.

Do any of you discuss the content of your responses? What you focued on a broad sense? I'm trying to get a taste of my approach for the question on most secondaries: "Please state your specific interest in attending ________________ Medical School"

I know it's important to be independent and set yourself apart, but it's also important to gauge your focus, length, and clarity as compared to others.

I had issues using the one provided on Creighton's supplemental, but http://www.picnik.com/ worked great.

Hope this helps.

How strict is Creighton in requiring a non-science course LOR? I just want to know to decide whether I should bother spending the money on the secondary since I have no way of getting a non-science LOR.

Form 1:

  • One letter from your pre-medical or pre-health advisor
  • One letter from a professor whose science course you completed for academic credit, and/or a professor who directed your science research for academic credit
  • One letter from a professor whose non-science course you completed for academic credit
Form 2:

  • Two letters from science professors from courses you completed for academic credit, and/or science professors who directed your research for academic credit
  • One letter from a professor whose non-science course you completed for academic credit

**Non-science Recommendation letters are expected from full-time faculty from any department not listed above. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • English
  • Foreign Languages
  • History
  • Sociology
  • Theology

fairly strict, when i asked if there was a way around it i got a no. You could call and see maybe the person i talked to was having a bad day.

They are okay with letter from a TA though.

With my letter packet, I got an A-okay from Creighton via e-mail. Based on what you guys were saying, their response took me by surprise.

 like I said i dont know. I wasnt going to have a non-sci lor, so i emailed creighton they told me tough. Luckily i got one in the end but . In the end all schools are fleixble if they want to be, i just think its on a case by case basis, which is why i always recomend calling and seeing what can be done.

Also koko you are crazy lol. Applying to this many schools is killing me, i seriously hate life doing secondaries all ****ing day. Youve done it twice now, you are a machine :p

It'll be over soon and then you'll wish that there was more you could do. At least you had most of your essays done in advance!

are you a FAPper koko eats?

as a reapplicant, did you talk to adcom about how to improve your app for this cycle? why didn't you get in last cycle?

i just want to know so i can prepare myself if I happen to become a reapplicant.

Not a FAPer.

I did speak with adcom at a few schools about why I didn't get in. Eventually, they started giving the same advice which was more clinical, better GPA, and more volunteering.

For some schools, I cited our previous communication in my secondary essays. For others, I forgot that I spoke with them until a few days ago so I missed that opportunity.

its ok i got a non-sci letter in the end anyways. Its odd how they told me that in the email though...guess the person i got was having a bad day! Ive noticed that i get different responces from schools depending on whether or not i email or call them lol.

My letters are still not showing up here. Anyone in the same situation?

Same, however, the e-mail they sent out seemed to suggest that they have received and processed LOR's, but each candidate's status page may not reflect his or her file's level of completion.

Here is the e-mail I received a few days after submitting the supplemental application:

"Hello from Creighton University School of Medicine!

We are excited to inform you that we have received all of your application credentials.

Your application for admission to the Creighton University School of Medicine is now complete.

Please continue to monitor your email for further information from us concerning your application throughout the admissions process.

Good luck and thank you for your continued interest in Creighton University."

Like I said, I still have a large red x and "false" for my letters status.

Hmm, I didn't get an email like that....

same i think its just really slow to update this time of year due to the flood of apps. Some schools say im not complete, then i call and im really complete they said it just wont show up for 1-2 more weeks.

Yeah, I got that email. Just wait for it, people.

I called and they said they received 1000+ secondaries in already. It will take this lady who enters it in about a week to finish sending out "complete" emails to those who are complete.

:scared:.

ahha ****...1000 apps, i wonder if this is the norm? Or maybe this is the year that finally apps have a huge boom...looking at stats over the pats 10 years app numbers havnt really increased a huge amount...guess theres always a 1st time for everything....

I am preparing myself for the email that says "We have never received this many applications and we regret to inform you..."

I feel like I heard that a couple times applying for undergrad.

this idea that there is going to be this unprecedented super-boom in apps this year doesn't seem rational to me...it takes a lot of time and work to get ready to apply to med school. a gradual increase, maybe. a clusterf*** all at once, probably not.

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the log-in page for Creighton? I think it's not actually the Creighton part that's giving me trouble, because I can't get into MCW's and they also use the 'oas' service thingy. I've tried rebooting my computer, reconnecting my internet cable, using a different browser...wtf is going on here?? Anyone know how to fix it? Obviously my internet is working fine, it's just that site.

I don't know. I can log in fine right now.

I agree with you, the past few years ive just been hearing that apps are going to raise a lot but they never do, either way  doesnt really matter to me since nothing we can do.

i'm hopeful that there might be less applicants this year than normal (don't ask me why though). but i hear you, nothing left to do but wait and pray (if you're into that sort of thing).

My "All Letters Received" box on Creighton's status page finally says "True" and has a green check-mark through it.

my status page for LOR says "False". What does this mean?

They don't have your LORs.
it doesnt necesarily mean they dont have them, thye just have not updated. They have my LORs but it still says false. They are inundated at the moment, it will get updated slowly.

Right. I'm complete according to an e-mail, but my status page doesn't reflect that.

If they use the amcas letter service how can it possibly take so long for them to get the letters? I mean it is all done electronically right?

it doesnt take long, but with 1k+ apps, it takes time to get them all make sure they are correct, and then go and update 1k+ peeps on the site. They said it will take another 2 weeks or so just to get caught up. And each day they are getting more and more. The normal applicant (i.e not SDN peeps) tend to apply in july and august, this is probably the time they get the most apps.

I told them that I went to catholic school as a kid and although I haven't gone to catholic school since then, I strongly believe in the values and look forward to meeting colleagues that have the same morals blah blah... you get the point :xf: Don't copy me or you're going to hell :)
