When I have some free time, I'll be coming through the old posts to see how quickly the WL moved last year and the year before (mostly because I probably have more to gain than anyone from gleaning as many details as possible). If someone will call each week or so, we can compare movement and hopefully get an idea of what we expect the final count to be.

On the bright side, this means I'll be on here often in the coming weeks and months!
 
Man, I am very frustrated. 46 is *right* in that range of unsure. So, no idea at phoenix and no idea at tucson. I am right where I was 3 months ago. Barf. 😕 Am I supposed to plan on getting in, or plan on not getting in? blahhhhhhhh.

And, ML should have gotten waitlisted. I'm sorry man. You'll get in someday. Just keep pushing.

Dude, if I were you, I would plan on getting a call from Tucson. Start comparing campuses!

Sorry mathlink, the adcoms must not have all their facts straight. Keep trying though! Like was mentioned, I've heard of docs and dentists who took 5 years to get in. You'll make it!
 
Phoenix will be notifying everyone today of their status. I just talked to someone over there & they said everyone will know by the end of the day. :xf:
 
ehandber, let us know as soon as you're accepted to either campus - it will help us know where they're at on the WL 🙂
 
Thanks for the support guys. It is helpful to have you guys to help me stay positive! I think I am just growing tired of not having anything to plan on. But, I am thankful for getting on the waitlist in a way that I still at least have a chance!

I hope that one of them starts moving the list soon and lets me in! I realllllly want in, and I can't wait to give everyone the news. But first, I have to get the news.

Soon, ADCOMs, please?

I hope you're right. 25.5k is better than 27k. 27k is a 18.7% increase.
 
Ehandber, you're good as gold. I understand that 46 must be a little stressful, but 46 has been accepted at least each of the last 3 years.

As for me, I'm not gonna quit. The only way it will never happen is if I give up. And who knows, a miracle could still happen with St. Louis, Loma Linda or Phoenix. Blasted optimism.

46 is definitly not bad. It's going to require patience, but I am 95% sure we will get past where we were last year (55).
 
I just don't want to get myself into the situation where I am "planning" on getting in, and then I don't. But, I also don't want to waste all the effort of planning on re-applying.

Hopefully PHX will solve that for me soon by letting me in off the waitlist. Come onnnnn lemme in lemme in lemme in lemme in! 😀

ehandber, b/c you got the email Thursday, you should be in the first tier; and if the first tier is like last year, I think it has about 20 students, and I think they went through the first and into the 2nd tier. So you I bet you hear, the question is . . . when?!?!?!? For some of us, it's IF, and when?!?!?!?!? :bang:

Did you interview at those 3 schools?

Schools I'm waiting to hear from are Drexel and West Virginia.
 
I don't know what I am leaning toward anymore. I suppose what will happen is that (if I get an acceptance) when I get accepted, the first campus I get accepted to will get me all excited and therefore likely get my attendance. My family is pushing for me to go to Phoenix still, but I think I might academically be a better fit at Tucson. Just because it is still a university setting. I don't know...

And, I am well aware that my "frustrating" situation is still better than many many people have, so I am thankful for it. I will acknowledge though that this process has definitely succeeded in making me feel pretty bitter. Just gives me all the more respect for you ML, and other multi-app-ers. I feel like the ADCOMs can't possibly doubt your commitment.

But, as far as my situation, here's to hoping! (Even if it feels like forever.)

Congrats to everyone who got good waitlist numbers. I'm predicting the waitlist goes to 64 (or deeper) this year in Tucson... my favorite number. 🙂

As for phoenix accepting 40/48 from the waitlist a couple years ago... I'm pretty sure that they offered 40 acceptances from the waitlist, not that only 8 applicants were accepted pre-waitlist release. But, if it makes anyone on the phx waitlist more hopeful... then you just "don't stop... believing" (to the tune of journey).

And... good luck ML. I'm still pulling for you, buddy.
 
So... any word from PHX? I thought they told someone earlier that they were DEFINITELY going to let everyone know today, no matter what their status was.
 
I'm definitely calling PHX in a couple of weeks to ask about how many students have come of the WL, about their tier system, etc. And I'll probably call Tucson to see where they are on the WL. I'm still curious about the size of this year's WL - over 120 at least, while I thought last year's was only 100. I'm going to ask about that too. I'm guessing they expect to pull more people off it?

Of course, if anyone else is itching to know, by all means call them and let us know!

So I guess that PHX is not going to actually email us tonight? Its 5:30, can't imagine they're gonna stay there till midnight or anything... Now, are they going to be working over Spring Break?

Just added that I'm IS 🙂 I think Ilovewater is OOS, and paiger and sunny1 are IS, not 100% positive though. Could you guys confirm?

Did you get a Phoenix waitlist confirmation email? I'm assuming that is the notification that us waitlisters who opted to stay on were supposed to get.
 
Yea, I did. But, I was hoping to hear what happened with the other SDNers. Also, I figured that they would be filling any spots that had opened up since last thursday on the same day they sent the final notices.

So apparently my intel was not good for phoenix today... Unless they are going to really go with "by the end of the day."

So, I'm pretty sure that if I don't go into medical school I want to go into the CIA/NSA, so that I can date Sarah Walker. I don't even think my current girlfriend would mind.

Yea.... well, it seems that the PHX update is definitely not coming today. I wonder if that means it will come on Monday, or over the weekend, or if the info was just totally bad and could be in a few weeks.

WL Notifications sent 3/12 for both campuses (odd – hopefully that’s a sign we’ll reach 65 or more, like 2008)

PHX tiers: About 51 (may be more - recall error) total applicants in 3 tiers, around 19 in each; someone was told by Tara that 40 came off; apparently there is some fluidity in the tiers, and a student from 3rd can get pulled before someone on the 2nd, which happened.

Don’t know if this is consoling at all, but we had less rejections among SDNers than 2009.

nonlocality from last year had some mad math skills, and created the following graphs. I think it would be good to use them to at least plot our position in comparison to last year. Does anyone here have some skills in tracking trends?

The dream's not over unless you let this dumb process beat you and decide it's over for you. Please don't let that happen! If you want to follow this crazy path then full steam ahead! Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and realize that it's coming back from stuff like this and succeeding that really makes a difference!
