It's really too bad that you put your picture as your icon so that everyone already knows what you look like. If you didn't, I would definitely be getting you back for this.

Maybe something along the lines of

Awwwww look! It's Erik's very 1st fishing trip! He looks excited, and a little unsure of how he got there. Is he fishing, or did the fish jump up out of the water with the intention of biting off his distal phalanx?

YAY!!! I guess my dream sort of came true! It moved FIVE SPOTS!!! YES!

Just heard from admissions office that they have accepted through #28. . Did I miss something or did the number jump considerably?

I'm thinking the best thing to do is just not ask questions and CELEBRATE!!! :soexcited: (I'm feeling that if I get accepted I am going to do that exact dance!)

Hey, 28! That's great. Go go gadget everyone please let go of their spot because it is May and it is time to start making decisions ...legs.

SWEET! 😀 Wow, we're somewhat on track with 2008 😀 I'll post more tomorrow - I'm moving back to AZ today!

Let's hope this means good things for Phoenix too.

Just curious, Jturkel was your spot one of the five that moved today or is your's still coming too?

He told me he hasn't withdrawn yet, he's still waiting on something in the mail. He will be withdrawing once that letter comes.

That is awesome! I am just loving this wait list movement! It is making final studying a lot better!

Hope your trip went well today Madein! Welcome back to AZ 🙂

I was gonna complain about finals, but then...

nope. not me

....so annoying. got accepted on the 28th and the dean said it was in the mail. a week later....nothing in the mail. i hope it gets here tomorrow. i called up the school and asked about it. she was like, oh, i will scan/upload/email it to you and i was like thanks so much!....dont have that either lol. though i must say it was super cool that when she asked who i was, she knew me.....i guess the entire admissions office and staff listened to the CD i send them b/c she told me she really liked it. i was completely thrown off guard lol.

and i hope to withdraw to give you guys my spot soon....if only they would send me the damn paperwork already!

You sent them a CD? Piano performance? You sir, grande cojones.

No, it was a mixtape of 80s love songs that he selected to describe his feelings for Baylor. Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart repeated 13x.

You crack me up. I can't wait to meet you.

28? That's great! There are probably two things contributing to the rapid movement. The first is obviously that people who are holding multiple acceptances are withdrawing from UA, but I think the other is that people who are on the WL with other acceptances are probably also withdrawing from UA's WL. That means that since we were at #23, then if say #24, 25, and 27 withdrew from the WL then we could have moved 5 spots up the list with only 2 accepted people withdrawing. I think that makes sense, right? It does in my head at least, because they aren't updating WL numbers every time some one on the list withdraws. Whatever the reason, I hope the list keeps moving so we can get some more of you SDNers in!

haha. yup....i did

....and i included a mixtape 🙄

and don't hate on me if i like that song haha. though i sent in the mixtape with the version with the wedding singer from Old School! I also put "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" by Kylie Minogue on there too. lol.

good god. as of an hour ago, im done with undergrad. real weird.

anybody here happen to have a link or a file with the total cost of attendance for IS and OOS for this coming year? I seem to remember seeing this, but all I can find is old, painfully low tuition information.

They gave us the following information at second look:

estimated cost of attendance (10 months):

resident: $37,893.00 (with parents, commuter) $47,423.00 (noncommuter)

nonresident: $55,227.00 (commuter) $64,957.00 (noncommuter)

You crack me up. I can't wait to meet you.

Haha, thanks. I can't wait to meet you and the rest of the crew as well. I kind of want to wait until after May 15th to do that though so I don't fall in love and then get heartbroken on the super small chance I get pulled off an alternate list. Lrk is going to think this heresy but I actually had a dream last night where I got pulled off the Mayo alternate list. I don't know how I would react in real life, but dream Shep was incredibly disappointed. I guess my subconscious mind trends heavily toward Phoenix. I really hope I don't have to make that decision in real life. Cross your fingers for Shep's Mayo failure!

 At the start of the application that would have been 100% true. Now that it is coming to an end, I have changed drastically. I really like what the UA has to offer. Plus, all of my family are here in AZ. Those two reasons were actually making me question whether or not I would go all the way to Mayo before they kicked me to the curb, which sealed the deal.

Hope your trip went well today Madein! Welcome back to AZ 🙂

Thanks MedHopeful! 🙂 It went well. I've got a bunch of unpacking to do now, so I wont be as active on the forum for a few days - but I will still call Tucson today unless someone else already has.

lrk, I think your ideas about people withdrawing from the WL make sense, and it's very likely that that is happening.

Here's to hoping for some more movement :xf: at either Tucson or Phoenix.

GO SUNS! Nice way to start the series 😀

Just wanted to let you guys know that I withdrew from UACOM-Phoenix today. Best of luck to you SDN'ers on the waitlist!

Tried calling UA - no answer. I'll call tomorrow.

Thanks for letting us know jizzle! 😀

Congrats man, Mayo is a great school. I would absolutely would love your Phoenix spot, but let's hope it at least goes to one of us on SDN. I feel like the last kid picked for dodgeball in gym class. Phoenix, I promise that I can catch and throw. Put me in coach.

Wow! I just read that link's poll and it was very encouraging. Then I tried reading what those people wrote underneath... Yet another reason I am very, very excited about UA- we aren't like that. In case I haven't said this before:

Thanks for being awesome! I avoided these boards like the plague during undergrad because I was under the impression everyone on here was going to be a know-it-all/jerk. And, if that other board is any clue, I was right. Except for this board! You have all been awesome and made the process way better. 😀😎

I agree, some of those people were being just outright mean to one another. Why can't people just have a nice discussion like on our forum and encourage everyone along!?!?! Thanks for being awesome UACOM forum!

I was thinking that exact same thing. Let's just say I'm glad those of us here have a much better camaraderie. Thanks for being great!

Grats on Mayo dude!!!!

Thanks! I hope you get in too; I need someone else to complain about the cold weather with me. If not, UA is a fantastic school and Arizona is a great place to live. I actually plan on coming back to the Scottsdale Mayo for my rotations in two years. Good luck!

Good luck to you too, bminz and thanks for the congrats! :luck: to you getting my spot!

Thanks BMINZ for the link. Besides the poll that pointed out a majority of people (56% or so) were going to wait until the last minute to decide (which gave me great hope), I really enjoyed the social divide of the posts. It seemed like a classic battle of the haves vs the have nots, where both sides were under the complete belief that their way was the more correct way to go about it. In addition, I really loved the sense of entitlement some people felt about their multiple acceptances and the way they voiced their side as if no one would gain from them giving up a spot too early. This seemed stark in contrast to what I see on this thread with everyone excited about a new spot being thrown into our pool, wanting to help out each other by the spreading of acceptances equally. What seemed most intriguing was the clear and blatant misunderstanding that each side has about how their actions affect the other. I found myself very much aligning with the position of those who said to limit acceptances early to just a school or two, thereby helping the process, the admissions committees and fellow future med students. Though in doing so, I fully realize that this is mainly because of the position I am in and can see first hand how giving up spots would help everyone else. I guess it just never occurred that whether we received multiple acceptances in October or are still waiting on our first, we all view our own application process as an unknown and perhaps slightly agonizing. Thus we make assumptions on how others ought to behave based on the limited circumstances that we are familiar with.

Also, I submitted an LOI to Mayo this past Monday reiterating my interest and basically saying "I will accept if I get an offer". I was pretty shocked to actually get an acceptance a few days later. Just throwing that out there to anyone on the waitlist for any school...

Good luck!

Thanks jizzle, if I get your spot then maybe we'll bump into each other at Mayo if it as an option for an elective/sub-i. I volunteered in the ER at Mayo during my undergrad and the atmosphere there is really fantastic. Also, thanks for the advice. I already sent Phoenix a letter of intent, but just in case if the adcom is listening...

I'm not sure if anyone has already rechecked the acceptances for the Phoenix campus against the time that the emails were sent out for the waitlist...any correlation??

Anyone who was rejected from Phx been able to receive feedback from them? Did they send an email or note out about getting feedback by any chance?
