Congrats Erik! I got accepted this morning as well. I'll be at the 11:30 (gold?) commencement. Not for me, as I graduated last year, but for my friends who are graduating. I'll cheer you on as well.

I'm so thrilled! It's finally happened. I can't wait to meet all of you guys. Fellow waitlisters, hang in there, only a matter of days now till you are accepted.

It seems almost certain that this year the list will make it into the 60's at least. I think the OOS applicants add to the movement. Good luck everyone waiting!.

Also, as a note in response to Shep's post about the fin-aid packages. I spoke with Yolanda, and I guess they are using the online application for UA scholarships for the first time. Apparently it only went live last week, so this explains why a lot, or perhaps nobody, received their packages till quite late.

Also just wanted to point out in the last nine days we have moved EIGHTEEN spots! That is crazy movement! I agree with this definitely getting into the 60's hypothesis!
 
Just called the admissions office in Tucson, and found out the number is at #47 today.

I'll have an updated plot after work 👍 A May 15th number of 47 with historic precedence would yield a final number of 78-80. If it keeps moving like this, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm guessing next will see good movement, but the last week of May might be more 2008- or 2009-ish.

No I got in to UA a while back and withdrew a couple of days ago. Had to call them to see if they got the withdrawal and also checked the number.

Just got my final exam score back in one of my classes. I was just ONE POINT away from getting an A in the course 🙁

Oh well, at least tomorrow is graduation and hopefully Monday brings some good news about med school!

Sorry it's late. This week has been pretty extraordinary, with today being the most extraordinary. The trendline could be higher, but I'm holding out to see when it flattens out. This updated plot has two possible secondary trendlines on it with dashed lines - one matches 2008 and 2009 post-May 15th, and the other matches 2007. I'm sticking to a conservative landing zone for now, and I did increase the maximum spots to 75 - just in case. 🙂

Last night was "A Perfect Storm" of celebration. I highly suggest none of you repeat my choices if you have stuff to do the following day.

It seems like the WL is actually moving at least as well as other years, which means that I will likely get to meet all of you down in Tucson. 👍

I think that May 15th is more of a day of request rather than a strict deadline. Looking at last year's flow it seems like there is definitely a great number of people that withdrew way after May 15th without penalty. I am STILL in shock about all this movement!

Its not super strict in the sense that they'll rescind their offer of acceptance if you have multiples after May 15th, but it is frowned upon. The other thing that contributes to people withdrawing after May 15th is people who are accepted after May 15th. If you have only one acceptance in hand on May 15th and then get accepted somewhere May 17th, they don't expect you to make an immediate decision (ie you withdraw way after May 15th).

This helps quell my biggest fear: that all this movement is really just what was going to happen later this month, but for some random reason it occurred all last week, and the rest of May will go at a snail's pace. I think you're right, lrk.

I'm making a request to the WL gods. I'm requesting that each remaining week in May see movement of 6 spots, or the equivalent of just Friday's movement (53 by this Friday, and 59 by next). That way, I should get in the first week of June 😀

I also just want to make a note about the last plot: when I increased the y axis to 75 it threw some of the trendlines off. They will be fixed in the next plot.

And to think, last year every one seemed to be up in arms about OOSers being allowed to apply this year, but it looks like its made the WL movement go crazy. Two more spots and we'll pass last year's movement with a couple months still to go.
 
I raised the trendline, but I'm keeping the landing zone conservative - my guess it will land in the mid 60's or higher. 😀

Congrats to all who made it in so far! And where are the Phoenix acceptances? Are they reconvening the admissions comittee before sending them out?

I'm totally stoked that I was accepted at Midwestern (beautiful campus, facilities, and inviting faculty), but I still am hoping to be pulled off the Phoenix Campus waitlist (not least because it would mean $20,000 cheaper a year). Anyone have news on Phoenix?

Also, lrkoehle, it has been exciting to see the speed of the waitlist movement this year. But if it was only in-state acceptances, then it is possible that Arizona residents who were between spots 40-50 might have been between 25-35 if the policy had not changed and likewise 80-90 might have been 55-65. I do not know the actual amount of OOSers accepted, but maybe some IS people who were just pulled of this week would have been accepted a month or two ago. IS appplicants in the higher numebrs who will not be accepted at all might have been accepted otherwise. Again, I have no numbers to back it up, but I could still see a case for residents being dissapointed in the new policy.
 
Just wanted to make a note that as of 3:30 today we are at 54! 😀 I've updated the plot and master list to reflect the change. I also wanted to remind us of a little glimpse into the adcom's thinking: It looks like the total number of WLers pulled represents about 52-62% of the total size of the WL. If that's the case, and the WL is 123 deep, they thought it'd reach somewhere between 68 and 75. I think it'll hit that.
