couple of things:
1. Puerta Del Sol grad housing on campus might still have rooms. That's where I'm living! One thing nice about PDS is that they let you move in early, like as early as July 31!

2. congrats on the WL acceptances!

3. still having trouble with zotaccount

4. omg, just saw the new stuff posted on the entering student website. SO EXCITED!!!! Can't wait to get started!!!

teachablemoment - the entering student website has links which talk about affordable housing. if you don't have that website yet, pm me and i'll send it to you. concerning your housing application, the date you applied to be on the housing waitlist is the date you interviewed and med students are on the housing admininstration's priority list. don't give up hope for pv/vp yet! (congrats on your choice by the way!! 🙂😀🙂)

carebears - the financial aid office got back to me saying that the problem is uci hasn't finished their processing of incoming medical students, so some functions (like uci email addresses and zotaccounts) are still unavailable. they said to try again in a week =/
 
Anyone else having trouble sending the sib questionnaire? I can't send the form. It says "operation not allowed"

i think you're supposed to save it to your computer, fill it out, then send the completed form to the email listed.

whoops, nevermind. adobe 9 won't allow saving.

Yes, we started school on a Wed and we had an exam on that following Monday. I imagine it will be the same for you. It shouldnt even really be called an exam, its like a 20 question quiz on the basics of histology. I wouldnt stress it. It has like 5 lectures on it. There will also be old exams you can look at, like there will be for every test. If you have places to be on that weekend or other events, you will be fine.

Word of advice - youll be taking histology and biochem at the same time, but the histo exam is first on that first monday and the biochem exam is the following monday. Do your best not to ignore biochem that first week, try to study it a little every day. I ignored it and the next week was like oooo man im 3 days in to school and im already way behind. Especially if you havent had an intense amount of biochem before (I hadnt), it may be overwhelming.

i sent an email to ask about the problem and the ms2 responded that the admissions office is aware of it and will fix it this week. to work around the error in the meantime, people have just been submitting scanned copies of their forms along with the requested pic.
 
zotaccount seems to be working now! 🙂👍

edit: uci emails are up too (yipa!)

i did most of this stuff while completing the financial aid forms so i may have forgotten something. if those links don't help post here again and i'll brainstorm for what i may have missed. alternatively, try giving the office of information technology a call tmw morning to see if they can figure it out: (phone number = (949) 824-2222) they are pretty helpful. 🙂:luck::luck:
 
Now that the zot account is up, has anybody seen their student loans applied to the balance?

I just accepted my loans and I'm wondering if there is another step I need to complete or something. Also, if you recently accepted your loans, how long did it take before they applied to the zot account?

just accepted my loans yesterday and completed the MPN and the entrance counseling today. my loans haven't been applied to zot account yet, but my grant has. I'm guessing the loans will be applied in a couple days. i'm gonna call tomorrow and make sure.

my loans and grants have been applied to my account, but it looks like only a third of each funding source was used to cover all the costs. is the money we take out automatically partitioned into different quarters?
 
I guess I'm not too smart for a med student. Can anybody help me with the email? How do we even get to the log on page? Where is it???

yes- you can see the summary of how much you get each quarter on the uci financial aid page

did anyone receive their white coat ceremony tickets yet or know when we should expect them?
