The 200 figure has been quoted numerous times throughout this thread- someone called the admissions office, who said they send out an initial batch of 200, followed by and additional 1500 in November:

I contacted UCSD. They send out secondaries in two waves. The first wave is the "immediate invites" who are allowed secondaries based on stats. This is about 200 students.

The second wave are sent secondaries in November, and for these, the adcoms looks over the whole AMCAS applications to decide if they want to send secondaries.

All in all, UCSD sends about 2000 secondaries from about 5600 primaries received.

"Please come to the School of Medicine Admissions Office, Room 180, Medical Teaching Facility, no later than 7:55 a.m. and plan to be on campus no later 2:30 p.m. "

It does say "Report at 7:55am and you can expect to be done by 2:30pm", or am I just nuts? That's quite a strange way to put it..

I don't think you should worry. I got my secondary last week. But I don't know when they stop sending them out.
 
I'm on hold for a potential interview later in the app cycle? Should I write UCSD a letter of intent explaining why I feel that the adcom should interview me? What kind of things would I say in this kind of letter that I didn't say in my 4 page autobio in the UCSD secondary? Thank you for your thoughts!

I'm going to assume most of the early dates. Brian told me that at least Oct. 1 would be talked about, but I'm sure dates far later than that will be considered.
 
hey does anyone know if the adcom will notify us this week after their meeting today? will they call us or just notify us via snail mail? --thanks
 
I think last year's thread mentioned a call for the first group... It's so weird to think our fates are being decided right now in that meeting!

Haha and the UC Drama moves from the Irvine thread to the UCSD thread lol. Here we go again! Good thing Brain makes things a little more transparent than UCI.

Very true! I have a feeling they will tell Accepts first or at the same time as WL. . . at least I hope so after all the UCI waiting. But I think Brian will both know and tell us when we will hear back, if we don't hear anything today or tomorrow. Here's to hoping our luck holds true for SD as well!

BREATHE everyone! Talked to Brian.. dean's reviewing files one at a time today and tomorrow!
 
Question-- I haven't scoured the UCSD thread nearly as much as I could've, but does anyone know the breakdowns for post-interview acceptable pool versus acceptance?

Pretty sure that it's around half half.

I wish I would have taken better notes at that meeting with dean Kelly. I wanna say 35-40% but I'm not 100% sure.

haven't yet received the secondary. Does anyone know when it will come out? People say the second batch of the majority of applicants comes in November. anyone received it yet or am i rejected pre-secondary.
 
Waitlist. Lesson learned: don't mention the zit on your chin, even if it helps your personal story make sense.

I've gotten accepted elsewhere so this is a blow but it isn't as bad as it seems. Congrats to everyone who got accepted here.

Call the admissions dept (got the phone number from the webpage) and ask for Brian. He's a really nice guy and he'll help you out. Good luck!

Yeah, he is incredibly nice! Was it awkward at all with him not having an acceptance to tell you about? I imagine he handles it pretty well, but I guess there's still the possibility for awkwardness nonetheless.

To me it wasn't but to him it probably was. I had a bad feeling about my interview here and I was anticipating a waitlist so I was prepared. I could tell he was trying to find a nice way to put it (and, actually, he did a really good job of it). He asked if I had any questions and helped me out where he could. I was scared of calling but I just took the plunge because I really wanted to know. Anyway, I had an interview at UCSF that I think went better and I'm hoping to hear good news from them; it's at least some light at the end of the tunnel.
 
I talked to Brain, he said that one of my interviewers got my form in late (probably the one who forgot to read my file before our interview LOL. Its ok though cuz he was awesome) So I won't be talked about until Nov. 16th. At least I don't have to sit and speculate about today. Good luck to everyone who has decisions today!

BTW Brian is awesome with how transparent he makes everything. He specifically told me he did not want to leave me in the dark and told me EXACTLY what was going on. If you guys want to know about your app just call, he will not be irritated by it.
 
just called, ACCEPTED!!! 2 acceptances in one day! interviewed 9.24

has anyone received a call from the office instead of you calling the office for an acceptance notice yet?
 
Complete mid-september, haven't heard anything back. Is this normal? Shouldn't I have gotten an interview vs. hold decision by now?

Anyone complete in September or before that has NOT gotten a decision?
 
I've been complete since mid September... no news either ... just waiting and wishing

mid sept here...same boat as you with no invite or hold.
 
I got an interview today, was complete on 9/9/09 (creepy eh?). I'm out of state and got a secondary on 8/3/09, so am I some sort of special golem?
 
Accepted!!! Dean Kelly called me. Interviewed near the end of September.
