For those wondering, there is a delay between the office receiving material and having your status updated. But as long as you turn in the on-line application before your deadline you're okay, they won't penalize you for LOR or payment delays, or status update delays. So no worries, just get that autobio finished.

Cool, good info. Did you call them about this?

For those of you who are on the "pre-interview hold" already, when were your apps complete? Mines been complete since 7/10 and still no news. Do they not review them in order of submission?

So from last years thread, it looks like some people should start getting invites soon. . . waiting sucks

I'm thinking of applying here as a longshot (3.95/29), espec. since they screen pre-secondaries. Good idea? I'm OOS and URM, if that means anything.

if u are interested I would, URM always helps a ton and if they screen you through, you know they are interested so its not a waste of money, if they reject you, you lost 31 dollars to have a chance to come to an amazing school.

I sent a check on Saturday and it was processed today, so I'm complete here. Huzzah.

Hahaha. MLIA is the best site ever.

Thanks man 👍

I am OOS and have not received a secondary yet and there is no change on my status site. Anyone else?

Will they actually let you know if you are not going to get a secondary or is it more of a silent thing?

you will know eventually, it will be a while though.

How? You had already mailed your check?

Yeah, I mailed in my check the day I got the secondary request back in June so that it would be ready for whenever I submitted my secondary online. There was nothing on any instructions that said you couldn't do that so I thought I might as well since the paper trail takes a lot longer than online submissions.

any OOS get secondaries yet?? 🙁

Hey, I'm OOS too and I have four interviews so far (three from top20), but no secondary from UCSD yet. Whats going on? Why is this process sooo random?

yeah, I'm OOS and have this secondary and UCLA's, but not UCSF's. random indeed.

Maybe UCSF is a bit slower at processing the applications.

Also, around what time were you AMCAS verified, perhaps the OOS applicants are put in a slower moving lane that is ordered by AMCAS verification.

I was verified on 6/25

Just got this secondary! 🙂 Verified 7/24, Acknowledged 7/27. Guess they're probably quite busy around this time of year, so you shouldn't worry too much if it doesn't come around immediately.

finally, got some UCSD love (way behind the rest of the UC curve) after being verified by AMCAS in early June. I had just about given up on them. So for those waiting don't give up. And i am instate too.

I am strangely excited to write my autobiography.

Yay! Just got the invite today.

Does UCSD screen this harshest out of all the UC's?

My primaries were verified early June..

I believe they do, or they might be tied with SF.

UCSF might be tougher.

SF is tougher if you look at ther stats i suppose, but its really a wash, getting either of these is tough they really cut down a ton of apps.

Oh ok, thanks guys. I only ask because I received UCSF early July along with the other UC's. So I thought UCSD rejected me. I did take my MCAT 3 times >.< So maybe that raised a red flag for SD or something. Oh well. While they did take a while to send me an invite.. I'm happy to finally get it!

Wow just got a secondary invite! Mediocre stats, so I'm happy 🙂 Verified 6/29

what is a true autobiographical statement? do i have to say, i was born on this date to these people and lived at ...seems so irrelevant. ??

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UCSD sent me a secondary!!! i'm SO stoked right now😀 i thought they weren't coming out until mid july??

do you mind me asking what your stat is? I am considering to apply there but I feel like Id get screened out automatically... Sad story.

I was hoping you guys could help me with this. So, when I first started asking for LORs, I had no idea that waiving your right to access the letters was the preferable way to go, so I didn't waive my right. I had no idea that professors will write differently based on whether or not you could see the letter, and thought a little constructive criticism would be good for me. Now that I know what adcoms think when they see that you didn't waive the right, I asked for the rest of my letters with the right waived.

So, with someone who half-waived half-nonwaived the letters, what should I fill out for section 9 of the secondary? You can only click "waive" or "denial". I hope this doesn't ruin my chances!

you're a reapplicant and you didn't know this??? you're a reapplicant with a 3.9/37??? anyway, it's not gonna kill your chances or anything... only thing it would do is maybe diminish the importance of your non-waived letters. hopefully your other letters are glowing

Thanks! Yeah, our advisors are useless. Didn't even tell me that waiving the right is the better choice. But, what can ya do?

hey guys, im applying md/phd - any idea on how/if they screen us? UCLA apparenlty doesn't screen for md/phd peeps, wondering if that was the case with SD

"If you have taken a year or more off since obtaining your Bachelor's degree, please tell us what you have been doing."

So I just graduated and am applying while taking a year off, but I shouldn't tell them what I'm doing since it hasn't been a year or more? I haven't seen this at any other school and this seems a little weird, so I'd just like to check.

It's not like it's going to take me much time, I already have multiple copies of this "essay" anyway.

I don't call a 36 a mediocre MCAT. What are you talking about? You're in great shape and will definitely get accepted to at least a few schools.

Just to add info to the thread, I got the secondary invite about two weeks after I received the application acknowledgement and am a proud NON-California resident.

So there isn't total discrimination against us OOS applicants.
