Interview Invite today 🙂.....the interview would have been on my birthday but I had to reschedule for a later day because I'll have class that day...

My interview was originally scheduled early November btw...so all their days have filled up til Nov. now.

For those of you interested. I was complete 8/26 (IS)

All the UC's screen primary apps, so it may take a while. Don't worry about all the interviews going out, it's still September and we have until March. Just start working on that 7500-character autobio so you can send the secondary off as soon as you get it.

sounds good - yea i got secondaries from Davis and Irvine, and fairly quickly at that, hence my anxiety (still no love from SF either). ah well, thanks for the advice though, I better get cracking on that...

no worries. ucsd took 11 days to send me their secondary after they confirmed my primary... and then I ended up w/ an interview

haha- I've been complete since 7/10 and I haven't gotten a hold or an interview invite. So I think we just have to bear with that for a little while longer.

Most likely if you have received secondaries from other UC's and not UCSD, then you won't get a secondary from UCSD. They only give secondaries to 1/3 of their applicants, and UCSF grants secondaries to 1/4. I wouldn't waste your time writing that monster statement unless you actually get the UCSD secondary. The reason is that most other medical schools want you to discuss events that occurred only AFTER high school. Consequently, you won't be able to recycle much of what you write for the UCSD app for use on other secondaries.

Well, I still have not received a secondary and its been over 3 weeks, but I did contact them about a week ago, and they told me the exact date they received it (which is when they first sent out an email saying they received it). And they said the file is still under review and it takes about 3-4 weeks to review it.

i got an email from them saying they got my primary Aug 24th, and got the email regarding secondary this evening

I was complete since 7/10 (no hold) and called the admissions office about three times, wondering about my lack of status. The admissions office is really nice and each time I called, didn't seem bothered about me asking.

Anyhow, there is hope for us all!! =) Good luck to the rest of you!

And I've heard that if you're on hold- it's good to show some persistence-- like by writing a letter of interest, updating them on the progress of your studies, extra-curricular work, leadership, sending more letters of recommendation. I have a friend who did that and ultimately got in. =)

I asked: "What is the status of my application?"

The first time, I was told that I was still under review but I should call back if I didn't get a status change within a week. The second time, I was told that I was still under review (but I wasn't told to call back). The third time, I was told that I was still under review and they had started making decisions about interviewing. I thought about calling another time to ask what I could do in order to improve my eligibility in the application process. Hope that helps. Good luck!

1) In addition to the activities listed in Section 5, please list any additional activities you would like us to know about. (includes fellowships, etc)

2) If you have taken a year or more off since obtaining your Bachelor's degree, please tell us what you have been doing.

do you guys know where i'd update them on activities i've done since graduating in may? it doesn't quite sound like it'd fit into 2 since it hasn't been a year yet, and "Sections 5 and 6 will ask you to provide information on activities engaged in while an undergraduate student." clause in the title makes me feel like it shouldn't be in this part at all, but i do feel my activities since them make me a stronger applicant.

Dang man. And there's another dude up in the thread somewhere complaining about how UCSD got their primary a week ago and no news.

UCSD got my primary on JULY 27th. I'm in state. No news. I'm going to email them now

last question before i ship this thing off! if one of the activities i'm putting in for my 5 activities is ongoing and i graduated in may of this year, what do i put as my end date? the current date or 05/31/2009, since it specifically asks for activities as an undergraduate student?

We have the exactly the same MCAT (except the writing score is different)--I haven't heard from UCLA though.

Personally I have one from UCI and UCSD. Heard nothing from UCLA, or UCD, not even a secondary from UCSF.

Personally I don't think at interview at one UC automatically justifies getting an interview at another UC. Its just too damn competitive out there. Cherish and kick ass on the ones you have, because those might be the only UCs that show love.

For those of you who got an interview, it says that we have to bring on our interview day: "a list of the courses you have completed since filing your AMCAS application and the grades received. An official transcript is not necessary and should not be submitted unless requested."
How does this work? Since I filed my AMCAS (which I did during the summer), I am taking my fall semester classes, and these classes are in process right now (not completed, and therefore, no grades received yet).

since you haven't "completed" the courses, then I guess you don't have to bring "a list of the courses you have completed since filing your AMCAS application".

Some people have reported that they aren't terribly strict. I wouldn't push it too far though.

Just email them and explain why you need a few extra days, they're cool about it. (unless maybe your explanation is that you forgot or you've been lazy.)

i was verified since 6/3 and i still have heard nothing, guess im done here🙁....so much for being in SD. 7/27 is too early to say no!! If i remember right someone said something along the lines of in nov they will review the people like us and send out final 2ndaries......could be wrong though i cant remember.
