oh. i was wondering about in limbo as being not on hold. pretty much just at the secondary received stage. how long does it usually take to get some kind of decision?

No idea. I'm waiting and it's been months.

So do you know if a pre-interview hold is a rejection or are they actually going to look over your application again? If yes, how long might that take?

mee too! i've been on hold for awhile..waiting patiently--gotten no love from other UC's--all i got left is SD and SF.

fingers crossed! give me a chance!
 
Does anyone know if UCSD even sends out rejections after secondaries, or is putting you on hold their way of telling you they don't want you?

I don't know, maybe they'll starting pulling up hold people pretty soon in the new year? That's what I'm hoping.
 
still have not received a secondary from this school, but not rejected yet. anyone else in the same boat? they told me my app will be reviewed again in dec, but my primary has been complete since August.
 
do they send out interview invites in batches?

im right there with ya.. and my primary was complete in june!!

im thinking if by next year we dont get the secondary they are not really interested in our autobiography 😉

Got an interview invite today for March 29th. Sucks that it's so late but hey I'll take it!

as someone in the know mentioned earlier, there is no such thing as interviewing for a waitlist spot at SD.

anyone know if its the same in other UC's?
 
accck app complete early sept and i still haven't heard about a hold or a invite. do they do straight rejections or do they put everyone on hold and then reject?
 
Also got an interview invite, but for March 16. I was complete in early Sept. I thought I would get no UC love. It seems like UCSD is picking up on invites before the holidays?
 
Invite today for April 5. Yikes.

Submitted 10/11, complete 10/15 (my fault), IS.

Wait so they do reject pre-secondary? I thought they just dont get back to you. I was complete aug3 and still no rejection... Dunno what that means

Yeah, I'm still waiting on a secondary. I've chalked it up as a rejection.

But I wouldn't complete the secondary even if they sent me one.

Aww yeah. Im not holing out hope. But can someone just confirm there are pre-secondary rejections? So i can take ucsd out of my excel spreadsheet. Lol. I cant find any here but its hard cuz im on my iphone

im the the same boat! i'd say wait till the new year before completely taking it out 😉

i called brian around 9:30 this morning and he said he was working on a stack of files, but mine wasn't in it. he told me to call him back in a couple hours. he is super duper nice. if you think you were up for review, just give him a call and he'll tell you. otherwise, i think we have to wait a few more hours for phone calls to go out. brian's # is posted a couple posts up....

Cool thanks. I actually have his number and I know I was up for review (called friday), just anxious to know the result...

I remember him saying we can call to find out if we're up for review, but you're saying you think its okay to call them for the final decision? Somehow I feel like that's less acceptable....?

If anyone got called two weeks ago, let us know what time of day they called would you? Thanks!
 
on my acceptance day a couple people said they called at 9 in the morning and Brian said to call back at noon, so i called him then and he told me the good news. ... and ya, Brian is probably the nicest person involved with any admissions committee in the country.

I just gave Brian a call this morning, who said that not many phone calls went out yesterday, and gave me the news.
 
i was complete around october 13th or so, and just got an interview (sent out on december 11th) for april 6th. 🙂

check back and see if any slots open up for you to be interviewed earlier

Not necessarily - people get interview offers at least through February. (I found people on last year's thread getting interviews in February...and I'm pretty sure there were folks even later than that).
The waiting is awful, but not without hope! 🙂

Note: No June interviews! Sorry I had wrong information on that... 🙁

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I just got an email saying I was on hold and would like to know what I can do. I've heard its a good idea to send an update letter along with the fact that you're still very interested. Any thoughts out there on that?

I actually just sent an update email a few days ago, but didn't get any response back. I wonder if they got it or not.

Hmm, they usually respond when you send them an email question or an update. Maybe they are on holiday break.

I didnt get a response till about a week or so after I sent mine, so no worries, im sure they got it🙂
 
Anyone know if a post-acceptance update letter would seem weird?.. I'm thinking stuff that might help for scholarship considerations.

Dear UCSD School of Medicine Applicant -

Our admissions committee met last night and discussed your recent update/letter to us. We treated the letter as an “appeal” of our decision to place you on interview hold and gave your file close consideration. I'm sorry to inform you that your status will remain unchanged.

Although this is not officially a rejection at this point, I should point out that it is very unlikely that we will be making many more interview invitations. Official notification should come by mid-February.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.


I guess that's a no... 🙁

sorry man. were you on hold before? or just placed on hold?

seems like they are almost out of interview invites
