Received an email rejection as well. Good luck to everyone else.

I got the rejection email this morning also. Good luck to everyone else! 🙂

sorry guys, that's a bummer. does anyone know how big the pool is now?

Has anyone been accepted from SDN? Running Diva?

As far as I know, there have been no acceptances given out yet, and the only movement on the acceptable pool were the rejections sent out last week

Thanks for sharing the number, GoldenBear. I'm surprised no one posted about their good news!

Any idea when the next movement will be? Think they'll wait until another 10 spots open up?

To be honest, I'm kind of skeptical about the "10 offers made." I know that this year will see fewer offers made, but only 10? C'mon, I heard more along the lines of 40 with most of the movement being around the May15 (or a result of the May15) deadline.

Thoughts?

Hm, it sounds like solid info, however it's a little unexpected. I'm not surprised there was finally some movement, but I'm surprised that there were suddenly 10 spots so soon after zero. Even if there were 10 offers, I think there'll be more, but I don't think it'll be a lot more.

i spoke to brian after the first rejection email and he said they were still over the 125 students thats y no acceptances had gone out

I guess we'll have to wait and see if people were accepted last week and post.

Until someone posts that they were accepted, i find it hard to believe there were 10 invites sent out on friday as well. 2nd hand information (or 3rd, 4th etc) is hard to believe, unless Brian confirms.

It is really quiet. Anyone hear anything about the waitlist lately?

Another week without any acceptances going out 🙁

What are you guys basing this off of? How do you know no one was accepted?

possibly... It definitely is the first time in the last few years
yeah does anyone have any idea why this is going on or where things are at on their front at this point? it seems so improbable given previous history.

I think people are assuming that because no one is posting about acceptances, no one is getting in. That may be a fallacy.

yeah i agree with that... though i think it would require a pretty small group getting in for there to not be someone who would post right?

either way, i wouldnt think its unreasonable to think that the waitlist acceptances are probably significantly fewer this year than in past years.

Can anyone call the office? I'm sure they would tell us if there has been movement and probably even how many spots. IT would be weird for them not to be honest when they have been all this time.

...nose.

Oze ... I think you just volunteered for the job (heh).

Actually, I called Brian's office Monday and his message said he was out until wednesday (not sure if that means he is back wednesday or back thursday). So we'll have to wait a couple more days to get news.

Ah. Had to look up nose game. Got it.

I'll try to muster the courage to do it tomorrow (if he is back tomorrow). I'm afraid of calling and having him tell me "oh, you mean you didn't get the rejection email yet?"

I think it's reasonable to assume that UCSD will have a higher matriculation rate this year because of the dramatically new (and better) curriculum. How MUCH higher of a matriculation rate is anyone's guess. All we know for sure is that they had a higher-than-expected number of people accept their offer and a higher-than-expected number of people keep their spot in the acceptable pool after they sent out the "are you still interested?" email. Thus, they had to do an extra round of rejections, and as far as we all know, there have been no acceptances from the acceptable pool yet.

Hi guys...as usual, my heart goes out to you. The waiting is by far the hardest part 🙁

I don't have any concrete evidence that the waitlist is or isn't moving. However, I spoke to one of my interviewers last week, and they told me that UCSD has not been making any more offers because the class was already overly full. I didn't press to find out any more detail than that...maybe people will drop their acceptances as other waitlists start moving. I am not sure if that statement is helpful to you or not, but that is what was said to me.

I am still keeping my fingers crossed for you guys!!!! :xf:

Hello all!

Just wanted to encourage all those in the acceptable pool not to give up! Just today, I got accepted to UCSD SOM after being in the acceptable pool since mid-March 2010. What's more, before I was in the acceptable pool after the interview, I was placed "on hold" for an interview in January, meaning I wasn't even guaranteed an interview. I felt as if my dream of getting into UCSD was defunct. So take it from me, keep your heads up. It is definitely possible to get accepted from the A.P., even if the rumor mill is on high-speed.

Good luck to you all! 👍

Hi! Thanks for the good wishes!! Guess I'll be seeing you around campus! 🙂 I'm super excited to stay in SD!

Hi,

I can't seem to find this information on the UCSD website. Could anyone tell me what kind and how many LOR's are required by UCSD? My school does not prepare committee letters.

Thanks so much

This is a question probably best posted on the 2010-2011 forums.

In any event, here is where the info is on the UCSD website (see step 3).

http://meded.ucsd.edu/asa/admissions/application_process/step_by_step/

The Loma Linda website

http://www.llu.edu/medicine/recs.page?

UCLA is basically the same as UCSD.

just got rejected via email. good luck to everyone whos still hanging out!

I just received a rejection letter as well. It's nice that they at least let us know we don't have a chance. Good luck everyone else!

Aw criminey! Now I am going to freak out every time my Blackberry vibrates, fearing "the email."

(Dstar, you said letter, but you meant email I hope? I ask only because I have been having U.S.P.S. mail problems ever since I moved ...)

It seems so unlikely. Most likely heading to Chicago, and I think I will really like it. Only thing I will really miss is the weather in California.

Chicago is amazing. I've lived there. The winter stinks, yes, but all I can say is layers do wonders. And do not be too vain to wear a warm hat!

Thanks for the advice. Definitely need to do some warm clothing shopping!

Right now is the best time to buy all that stuff. Who wants to buy down coats in the middle of the summer?

I wholeheartedly recommend Sierra Trading Post to find all that stuff. If you sign up for their email thing they always send you 20% off + free shipping coupons.

So - if I haven't been rejected yet, what the hell does that mean? I mean, obviously good things but I matriculate in like a month and move in 2 weeks, I don't have a lot of wiggle room.
