I got a missed call from a number with a 407 area code, and called back and got a recording for the admissions department so I imagine it was for an interview invite, i need to stop putting my phone on silent.
Interview on 1/15. Wish me luck!!!
Interview invite: 1/25. File Complete 9/29
BACKGROUND CHECK CLEARED AND RELEASED ONE STEP CLOSER TO STARTING MED SCHOOL
accepted 2014 UCF
Waitlisted, upper third...keeping my fingers crossed for some movement!![]()
When did you get a call kjsmith? And did your status change on the UCF page?
BTW, there was another guy on this forum who was upper 1/3 and ended up getting an acceptance. Since its still pretty early, I would not lose hope by any means!
EDIT: it was reidmike.
REL called me at [looking at call log] 6:52pm yesterday night. My status DID change, but I do not know if that was before or after he called ( you actually reminded me to check that). It says:
Current Status: Waiting List (info link: Applicant has been interviewed and based on the committed decision, has been placed on the waiting list.)
Yes, I'm feeling optimistic about getting an acceptance some time in the near future...I do remember reidmike getting waitlisted and then accepted in a timely manner.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone 😀![]()
Hey Guys! So I had my interview Friday and I feel that it went really well. 🙂Totally loved the school, the faculty, and the students. They were so enthusiastic! There seems to be a great future awaiting UCF. I am already super nervous to hear about my own future here in about 2 weeks!!!
I'm pretty sure guests can come to white coat ceremony. Good question on 2nd look weekend. I'm thinking it would be casual, but does anyone know for sure? For the white coat ceremony can we bring guests, if so how many? Do we have to dress up for second look weekend?
GO ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!
ACCEPTED UCF 2014!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you guys are having great luck this app cycle.. Im still trying to get off this UCF waitlist, not lookin too good but still Hopeful!
Anyway, I remember from my interview that they said podcasts of the lectures are a possibility, but most lectures are required attendance. I found a couple digital voice recorders on the wal-mart webiste, and would recommend this one as best for recording the lectures:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11089377
only 35 bucks, and im sure if you search around the internet you can find a free shipping code for wal-mart. Good Luck to all accepted and still waiting to hear, hope this helps!
I'm in the eligible for interview status also. I'm really hoping to get an interview invite!!! This is my home city - my family still lives there and I would really looooove to be part of the class of 2014. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Does anyone know how often they send out interview invites?

Just got my interview invite today. I had almost given up hope of getting one from UCF and I'm ecstatic. Does anyone know how many people UCF is planning to interview this year?
Good luck to all those waiting, I was complete late September so there's hope!
We will interview about 325 this year. It's a real long season ending somewhere in March or April for most programs.....we're barely moving yet....keep the faith!
Hi all,
my application status continues to show "FILE COMPLETE - READY FOR REVIEW". Anyone know how long it takes for the review to be completed and to be eligible for an interview?
can someone please elucidate for me UCF's curriculum? Is it lecture or PBL based? How long are the "class" times on average for each day? Which residency programs are the school planning to establish in the new hospital or nearby vicinity? Have the professors taught med students before?
Just some of the questions I have. Thanks!
Got waitlisted but I'm in the middle of the upper 1/3 list. Trying to not get too excited but I really hope I end up getting accepted here!
The curriculum is a mixture of lecture, small groups, clinical skills, simulation, animation, with consistent md/patient interactions in the local hospitals all 4 years, with a thread through the first two years that allows for chasing down something in health care that you always wanted to do --- called research but it is not necessarily bench, but can be anything associated with h/c. Really a new breed of curriculum where all is intertwined and you learn by hearing cases, lectures followed up by small groups and clinical skills pertinent to the subject being taught. The curriculum is not restricted by the kingdoms of departments like all of the other md programs which are already established --- they cant get to a curriculum like UCF has because their kingdoms are territorial so they can only teach courses supported by a department, maybe in tandem with other departments at times, but territorial nonetheless. Because of the interactive curriculum students must be in class to achieve for themselves and to work together for their classmates. Required class time for lecture, labs, small groups, clinical skills amounts to three days per week with Wednesdays and half days on Thursdays and Fridays. The W-Tr-Fr can be used for your preceptor time with live patients, your "research," additional clinical skills, sleep, study, etc. All of the professors have taught med classes; this group of faculty are progressive, being able to teach in the methods of lecture, small group, clinical skills, seeing all of the benefits of the learning process. Most of the 15 hospitals in the Orlando area that are our training partners have been teaching med students from UF, USF, and FSU for years and have established residency programs on their own. There is a new VA begin built at the Lake Nona Med city adjacent to the med school that will bring about 80 residencies and there is also a Nemours Pediatric Hospital being build at the Lake Nona med city as well that will be a clinical partner for training. Please visit www.med.ucf.edu and go to the Academic tab for additional information regarding the curriculum as well as a curriculum schematic.
Hey,
I'm new to the forums and I will be applying to medical school next year, UCF being my top choice. I know it's kind of early, but I was wondering if anyone knew how many students UCF was going to accept next year and what type of students they are looking for (i.e., research oriented, socially diverse, etc). I hope to join you guys, faith2, reidmike, etc. in 2011!![]()

Yes it is true a diverse student is favorable professionally and personally, but leadership is very important considering you will be the third class, and it will be important for you to mentor the 4th year class. I know that is one of the things I am looking forward too...
APPLY EARLY PLEASE it will make such a differnce if you send your apps the first day AMCAS opens
Good LUCK!!!!!!!!!!
