Every other month since my interview in September I've received an e-mail by the Monday afternoon after the third Thursday of the month (i.e., the Monday after the adcom meeting) that says that a final decision still has not been reached.

I haven't received that e-mail this week, so I'm pretty hopeful. However, I haven't received anything in the mail yet and I can't find the site where I check my status.

What is that site?

-EDIT- Nevermind, just found it. Still "Decision Pending". I haven't received that e-mail yet though. Some people have said the adcom meeting is actually today because of match day last week, but other people have gotten updates in the last week. Has anybody gotten that e-mail?

Hi VisionaryTics,
I am in the same position as you. I was interviewed on Oct 19th and ever since have been getting that email about hold...Thankfully, I have a med school to go to.. otherwise life would be hell! lol..

That's so true! It should make you laugh at loud that my life is hell!

uic is probably my only hope of getting in this cycle. ive sent in an interest letter and an update letter in the past couple of weeks. is there anything else i can do? adding a lor? contacting interviewers? ahh. i. hate. this. process.

I was surprised to have received an interview invitation today.

For those who are still waiting for interviews, check your status!

Best wishes!

I can tell you for sure that the adcom meeting was today. I just interviewed at the UIC this Monday and they said that due to match day they'd be meeting on March 25th and they also told us that this year 81% of students have accepted their acceptance offer compared to 60% of last few years so they're hoping some of these students will withdraw in coming weeks in May before the May 15 deadline. The dean was also very adamant about not having more than 300 students in their class this year since last year they overshoot the target by thirteen students, which he said was a big deal. They also received nearly 1000 more applications this year compared to last year so according to him, they had to increase the bar in both who they interviewed and who they sent acceptances to. So that might be a reason why so many of you have been on hold for so long.

this is a little strange how far away from each other people have gotten their status changes... somebody said monday and someone else said last night... which is also strange because i've heard several times that the meeting was in fact today.

This has been the strangest waiting process as I've done this last month, and this week is way different getting decisions-wise than every single round I've heard of... maybe this means that they're still meeting, maybe this means I am to clinging too much hope. oh well.

Best of luck people. Congrats to the people who got in and for those who are still in limbo, I feel your pain.

haha... ok then a guess for sure that the meeting was today! I'm baffled.

status change with additional correspondence tab in the past hour or so. Safe to assume acceptance? interviewed 3/16

I got the "no decision made" email last month, now I see a "final decision" status but no additional correspondence tab that I'm aware of. Is this likely to be a rejection?

They said barely anyone gets rejected. Most people get put on hold. They said they only reject people that had really really bad interviews.

you don't see additional correspondence in the top right corner? its not really a tab....just the words

Well I felt like my interview went well and they didn't reject me last month, so I'm unsure of what the deal is. I guess I'll just wait and see what comes in the mail.

When did you interview? They just had the meeting today so you may have been included in that.

Interviewed 1/28/10. Like I said, I'm not freaking out about it, just curious as to what the decision will be. There's a blank square where I think the "additional correspondence" box should be according to other posts, but I can't remember if this blank box was always there or not. Either way, I've gotten really used to patiently waiting from this whole application process, so I'm not too excited.

Lots of good info. Thanks!

So can someone tell me this is not bad news? This is pre-interview:

A final decision was made on your application on . Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

If it's pre-interview its a rejection.

Don't lose hope! Last year I did not make it to any medical school and was on the waiting list for UIC...This year I have been accepted to Rush and Rosalind Franklin. I truly understand your pain... I really wish you make it to UIC.:xf:

congrats to those accepted! i also have the decision has been made with the words additional correspondence on the top right. is this an acceptance? it occurred to me it might also be a waitlist? what do you all think?

Dr2b2014,

I did not have a date embedded within the "final decision" message.

Same here gtoia.

I have a message saying "A final decision was made on your application on 03-25-10. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone." and there's an "Additional Correspondence" tab on the upper right-hand side of the page w/o a date attached to it. Reading this message board makes me hopeful that this is an acceptance. I'm just crossing my fingers!

Just a side question, does anyone know if all of their seats for the Chicago campus are taken and that all further acceptances are automatically placed in Urbana, Rockford, or Peoria? Thanks!

did you all find out what campus you were placed in when you got your acceptance letter in the mail? My status change online said "decision made" to expect correspondence in the mail within 2 weeks. I also have the additional correspondence tab.

i can't believe i'm in! now, decisions, decisions...

I'm not accepted yet but I do know that you don't get campus placement with your acceptance letter. They send you a little piece of paper asking you to choose between chicago track or UPR (Urbana-Peoria/Rockford) track and then they do their best to put you in your preferred tracks. At this point, most if not all of the chicago seats are filled but you can always file a petition for chicago track if you were put into UPR track and absolutely didn't want it. You have to write a letter explaining why you want to be in chicago and why they should grant you a petition (like if you have a family to take care of in chicago). Petitions are already being accepted but you can only file for petition after you get placed somewhere which doesn't happen until after you send back the preference card that comes with the acceptance package. More petitions will likely be granted in the coming weeks in May as a lot of OOS students withdraw their acceptance due to high OOS tuition at UIC.. if they've been accepted at a cheaper in-state school. Hope this clears up some stuff.

Accepted 🙂

I have the "decision has been made" message too, but no additional correspondance tab. Although that could be because I'm RMED, and mine says "RMED offer" instead.

Thanks Amdavadi! This info helps a lot 🙂
I hope you hear something soon!

No problem! I just interviewed last week so I'm not expecting to hear anything before April 15th, the date of next AdCom meeting, when our files will be reviewed.

Should we have done anything else by now? All I've done is included their school fafsa number when I filled the thing out.

I was asked to submit some documentation to verify certain details. You should be able to find out whether they need anything else from you by logging in to my.uic.edu and navigating to the financial aid offer section.

Interestingly, all 5 people I kept in touch with from my interview day got accepted.

Interestingly, I have not been accepted.

How does this piece of information help me/pertain to me? Between this comment and the "your life is hell" comment, I'm starting to think UIC and SDN are in some kind of demonic cabal trying to make my life miserable.

Where did you already get your University ID number to set up your account on my.uic.edu?

Thanks,

I also got a final decision status this last Friday with no date attached. It's frustrating how ambivalent this is. Looking at UIC threads from previous years, there have been people accepted and rejected post-interview with either a date or no date, so there is no apparent meaning attached to if a date is included.

There also seem to be only one or two people on SDN per year who were post-interview rejected before May, so I'm hoping that the fact that almost everyone this week had no date attached means that they're all acceptances.

Best of luck to everyone, we'll see what happens when those letters arrive.

My status is still "applicant in process" and this is pre-interview. Are there even still interview spots or is this just a silent rejection?

My final decision message now has a date of 3/29 embedded, did this happen for anyone else?

Just checked; my fiancee's did the same. Still no words in the final spot at the top of the status page, though.

Ditto. This is certainly an untraditional month as far as status updates goes.

I got the "final decision was made on your application on 3/25/10" too, but I also received an email from the associate dean of admissions with the subject "Your offer of admission to the University of Illinois College of Medicine." It was regarding a waiver for the non-resident portion of tuition. At first, I thought it was one of those emails they send to everyone, but then it talked about responding to to the "offer of admission you've been offered" and concluded with "we look forward to your matriculation in August." I want to say it's a done deal and jump for joy, but the neurotic pre-med side of me can't believe it until I see that acceptance letter come by snail mail.

Any OOS' get that email?

Good Luck to all!

I'm out of state and didn't receive that email. I doubt that they offer in-state tuition to many OOS applicants, so congrats!

I got this email and I will PM you.

Congratulations! That's really awesome. I'm OOS as well.. do they only send this non-resident tuition waiver to the most desired applicants? Anyway, great job!! 🙂

Thanks,

I received my UIN in an e-mail from the OSFA the same day that I submitted my FAFSA, in late February. The subject line read "OSFA Notification (2010-2011)."

Thanks cal! I wish I could tell u more, but I'm not quite sure how the process works.
