For the employment history section of the secondary app, does that refer only to paid employment? Or does that include employment for which we were not compensated for??
so if they screen would they automatically throw out an app to someone that has a bcpm of less than 3.0? what if they are urm, does that matter? not to mention an mcat of 17 :'(Yes but it is pretty low cutoffs. But I think I read they will not send it out if you dont have a MCAT score yet.
employment you weren't paid for sounds a lot like volunteer workFor the employment history section of the secondary app, does that refer only to paid employment? Or does that include employment for which we were not compensated for??
I have no idea what their cut offs are but unless you have listed an upcoming mcat date on your primary, they might screen you out with scores like that. I don't know that they look at URM status during the first screening, but I could be wrong. I don't know how much URM is going to save you with an MCAT of 17so if they screen would they automatically throw out an app to someone that has a bcpm of less than 3.0? what if they are urm, does that matter? not to mention an mcat of 17 :'(
"Employment" typically refers to paid jobs.
You should put the average number of hours per week you were on duty plus time for any floor meetings, etc. The committee knows what RA's are. 🙂
Urgh, they still haven't uploaded my letters and the online status is yelling at me "User needs to submit letters"
I wanna yell back at it "I DID! 3 weeks ago!"
lol, I'mma call them tomorrow morning.
i JUST got off the phone with them and they looked me up and were like "yep, we see all your letters here, we're gonna complete you today" 🙂
I feel really dumb asking this, but where exactly is that status page telling you if you are complete or not?😕
UIC only requested three letters but I sent five to AMCAS which went to all schools including UIC. So will UIC look at other two that I haven't listed on the secondary or not?
Anyone know for sure/ Any guesses?
So, does this mean that right now, everyone's status is: "Application is in process"?
look earlier in this thread. someone posted what all the statuses mean and where you can go from each oneis there a difference b/w "application in progress" and "applicant in process"????😕

Also am applicant in process. But per what people have said in here, I guess it dosn't mean anything yet.
Right.
you say august like it isn't tomorrow. haha i'm guessing you mean mid to late august?
if anyone doesnt have there letters downloaded just call them up and they do it on the spot just be super nice i just submitted my secondary yesterday and am complete today
or everyone can just chill out and wait a few days because they don't take THAT long to upload the letters (keep in mind that allot of us are checking the status pages probably too often)if anyone doesnt have there letters downloaded just call them up and they do it on the spot just be super nice i just submitted my secondary yesterday and am complete today

Hmm, I didn't waive my rights to see my letters. Hadn't thought much of it at the time, but now that I'm submitted and everything I am kinda curious to see the letters.
Might as well since I can... but there is nowhere on the website that displays the letters. Lol, oh well.
Yea, i don't know what I was thinking at the time. I guess I was just curious and thought it was kinda silly for there to be laws that give students rights to these things... but then you are all but required to waive your rights. Kinda silly.Isn't it frowned upon to not waive your rights to see the letters? Besides, letter writers generally decline if they can't write a good one for you.
Got a quick question...for being employed at UIC they ask for Pct. Time - what does Pct. stand for?
Zip, do you know how accommodating the admissions office is in dealing with this type of thing? Am I completely hosed?
Looking forward to hearing from this school, although I'm afraid if I do get an interview, Zip will be my interviewer and make me cry.![]()
Very funny. I am NOT mean. 🙁
Hey zip, do you know when the admissions committee starts reviewing applications and sending out interview invites?
In response to the applicant who submitted an online secondary application and then realized that their extracurricular activities page was not correct/blank, as Zip points out, things happen. What usually doesn't happen is that those things are anticipated by the IT guys that program the application. However, in this case, and I am NOT (/cough) tooting my own horn, we anticipated this particular situation. Woot us! So admissions should be able to "reset" the submission allowing you to correct the erroneous page and then submit the application again. If all things work correctly (crosses his fingers) then you will be able to submit the application and not pay again. If anything occurs other than my above interpretation of how the application will work, then post here, and I'll look into it specifically. I don't know your Amcas ID, but call College of Medicine Admissions and tell them to contact supplemental application web architect, and let him know your amcas ID.
Oh, and if everything works as intended, then that was my code, otherwise it was a bug introduced by one of my programmers 😉.
Have I said again how awesome it is that you are on here? Thanks Zip, those stats make me feel a little more confident about UIC.
Being stuck at "Application is in Process" for a month is scary. It reminds me a lot of dating. 🙁
Well at least the later the interviews start, the closer they will be to first decision in October. I just hope applying early pays off still. From those stats I definitely feel like a competitive applicant but who knows what kind of ECs they are looking for and such.Would love to go here, especially at the Chicago campus.
maybe those people are the first people who are going to be looked at, but they're still in a holding pattern for the next 2 weeks too until "active review" beginsThanks, Zip. If UIC doesn't start reviewing until 2 weeks from now, how come some applicants are getting "Applicant in Process" and others are still at "Application is in Process"? I'm still at "Application" and I've been complete for a couple of weeks now.
