I still do not have a date next to additional correspondence? Does anyone else have one? Does this mean they won't send out the packets until after Thanksgiving?

Does your status say that a final decision was made/that it's being mailed?

Congrats on the decision made,,,, it means your in if its post interview...

I am still at decision pending. I have been kind of looking at it as a rejection, but I mean they haven't really sent me a rejection letter yet... Does anyone have any idea what my chances are now. Is it even possible that the look at me next month and all of a sudden change their minds and accept me... or am i going to wait until may for my rejection. Also does UIC have any waitlist movement?

Decision pending does not mean it's over. They will continue to review your life every month. Hopefully you will hear good news in December.

UIC has a huge class they need to fill for their 3 campuses, so I'm sure there will be plenty of movement later on. G'luck!

ACCEPTED!!!!

Acceptance letter received today, postmarked for 11/23, the big packet is so cool to see sitting in your mailbox.

Was there a date next to additional correspondence?
I still don't have a date next to mine.

No there does not have to be a date next to the AD tab and there is no date next to mine.

Does anyone know if UIC accepts update letters pre-interview? Or should I not bother?

i don't know what uic's adcomm is like, but i feel like it doesn't hurt to update them and show that you're interested. that said, it would probably be better for you to call their office and ask how they feel about updates.

the no date next to correspondence doesn't matter. packet in the mail today.

Congrats to all of you that just received OFFICIAL word via the mail...now you can pass on your knowledge to the next group and attest that post-interview final decision and the correspondence tab (no date necessary) ~= acceptance...and no CBC email until after January this cycle (per AMCAS).

For those about to send in your site preference card.....which campus are you all going for?

Good luck to you for those of you still waiting!:xf:

Shoot, my family and I are out of town. So I can't check the mailbox until this Sunday 🙁 I really want Chicago track. What about you guys?

ditto...I live in Chicago and still didn't get anything😡

Some Chicago people got theirs the following Thursday too. I think I got mine on Friday or Saturday and I'm currently on the east coast.

Does it help to call? The person answering will actually tell u if ur file has been reviewed? Cuz I've been "ApplicaTION in process" for FOREVER.

Yes, it does in a way. It helps to call to see where the application is. Because when I gave her my AMCAS number, she was able to look it up pretty quickly. They must have some system going on. And she said it was still with the committee.

I actually didn't start looking at the application status until recently, and I submitted my application in mid-August. So I'm not sure how the switching between "applicant..." and "application..." really works. But yea, if I hear or read:scared: anything else, I'll let you know.

does u of ill except mostly in state students? i was rejected pre-interview with a 33Q and 3.87 gpa from a wisconsin school.

hm nothing in the mail yesterday :/

Being a state funded school, UIC favors IS students. But over the years it has developed a reputation for accepting larger number of OOS students. For example, in 2007 they accepted about 35% OOS.

true, but getting to one of those accepted seats you have to make it past almost 5000 OOS applicants since they only interview about 300...

Do they really get that many secondary applications or is that just from AMCAS?

the numbers in the MSAR are for primaries. i think at any given school ~50-70% of that number submit the secondary as well. It's probably on the higher end of that for schools with short and/or cheap secondaries, and on the lower end for schools with tedious and/or expensive secondaries. so if they got 5300 last year, i bet its higher this year. i'd guess the total # who submitted secondaries is around 3500-4000?

ACCEPTANCE!!!! just received it in the mail!! 😀 😀

sooo excited, especially because I didn't think my interview went too well..

Historically speaking, when do the Chicago spots fill up? I'm going to pick Chicago as my top choice on the site preference card (which I just received today). Should I feel confident that I will end up in Chicago?

According to last years thread it looks like historically Chicago campus starts getting full towards the end of December/January = after the 3rd round of acceptances it seems. However, I do know someone who got Chicago campus after being accepted in March (obviously not the norm but it is possible).

Also, for those of you still "decision pending" don't think that it's over yet! With just a quick look I saw that there were individuals last year who got accepted in November who interviewed in September so they really do keep reviewing you. It doesn't mean that you are automatically waitlisted.

Got the official acceptance today! So happy because UIC is my top choice! About how long does it take for you to get the campus placement confirmation. I should still be good for Chicago, right? Also, is the placement totally first come first serve or do sometimes they already have in mind where they will place you based on class cohesion and whatnot? 🙂

Oh Yeah... Congratulations to everyone who got accepted so far!

got my packet in the mail yesterday! sent back a card requeting chicago 🙂

They claim it's first come first serve w/ the caveat that they still want it to be balanced throughout the campuses or whatever so take that for what it's worth. At this point I would think you still have a good chance at Chicago since it is only the second round of acceptances. It took about two weeks or less to receive my site placement. My letter was postmarked the day they marked receiving my acceptance paperwork/deposit.

Thanks! Is there a facebook group or anything, so we can get to know each-other? Since I am nearly 100% sure I will go here I thought it might be nice to meet some others who are in the same boat.

Doesn't look like it. Make one!👍

K... I think i figured it out. If anyone is interested type "UIC COM class 2014" in the search box, and hopefully it pops up!

Does anyone happen to know if a pass/fail grading system is used at all 4 sites? All I know is that Peoria has it.

I'm not sure, although I would imagine so. I know Chicago is P/F (w/ honors lol)

i did my interview in rockford so i know little about chicago track and how it's different from the urbana track in general. does someone know how chicago fundamentally differs from the rest of the tracks (i know the order of the material you learn is somewhat different, but beyond that, i know nothing else). anyone have any idea?

I received the "final decision made on 11/20" status message with an additional correspondence tab, but still haven't received a letter in the mail. Is anyone else still waiting?

Got me a big envelope from the school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Good luck to you all!!:luck::luck::luck::xf::xf::xf:

Class of 2014!!!!!!

😍😍To all those still waiting, don't give up hope and pray to the Lord. I be praying 5 times a day! 😍😍

My status has been "Recommendation(s): 4 received from AMCAS, expecting a total of 4, awaiting Admissions Officer letter review" since 10/5. Does this mean that they haven't even certified my file as complete?

you should probably call the school about that...I know when mine said awaiting admissions officer review the lady on the phone completed me right away. They just have to check your letters and make sure they are all okay...
