GO CUBS!! 100+ years of misery but this is the year! Haha
And this is the mentality that allows economics to predict that the Cubs will not win the World Series for awhile. Though with the new owners, you guys have a real shot since they seem like they actually care about winning instead of taking advantage of a cult. 🙄

Yeah I got the CBC a couple days after January first and I was accepted in October. Nobody has posted on sdn to my knowledge about a post-interview rejection so far...but obviously sdn isn't indicative of the entire applicant pool
Umm, sorry, but what is this "CBC e-mail" that you guys are referring to?

Hello All!

I posted earlier about how my decision was deferred. I interviewed in December and received an email in January saying they were keeping my file active (no decision was made as of the last committee meeting). I just received my acceptance letter today! Don't give up hope and let UIC know you are interested (if you are).

Good Luck to All!

My application was complete mid-septemberish, and my status is still "application in process" is this normal, or should I call them and see whats up?

O please you sour fan😀. Cubs may not have won a world series in forever but no matter what the Sox do (like win a world series 4 yrs ago), the whole nation still sees Chicago's team as the Cubs and not that other team from the southside. I love our rivalry and looking forward to April!! GO CUBS

PS Economists can suck my balls

I don't need to be a fan of "Chicago's Team". I'll be a fan of the team where fans actually follow the team instead of casually going to the games because they are "Chicago's Team" lol 😛

EDIT: Oh and I forgot, 4 yrs ago is better than 100+ 😛

Yup, there's nothing more obnoxious than sharing a red line train packed with drunk Cubs fans after a game.

Got accepted today by mail! I was complete in September--Interviewed on the 14th of January.

OOS
3.6 GPA
33 MCAT

Loved the school.

Hey I just got an email, post-interview, saying that I was going to be placed on hold, that no decision has yet been made on my candidacy, but I'm still under consideration.

Not the worst thing in the world, but still kind of a heart breaker. I would love to go to UIC more than anything, but my question is, realistically, what are the chances they would come back to my app any time soon, and if that, what are my chances of an acceptance? I didn't have the best MCAT in the world, but I hope that I shined through with everything else (good GPA), but who knows.

I haven't had anything particularly new happen in my life though, so I wouldn't know what to update them on if I wanted to write them anything, but does anyone think there's anything I could be doing between now and the final decision that may help my chances? Thanks a lot!:scared::scared::xf:

Also got the hold email today as well.

Doesn't matter to me anymore, no chance of chicago campus at this point, so that's it for me with this school.

Congrats! 😍 I see you were fortunate enough to have a quick turnaround. I interviewed right before the adcom meeting as well so I didn't have to wait very long either.

Got the acceptance packet yesterday, lending further proof to the fact that "decision" post-interview is a good thing! 🙂

Sent the placement preference card and paperwork back today. For those who have already received site placements, how long did you have to wait after sending back your paperwork?

I got mine back about two weeks after I sent it in.

I e-mailed an update to admissions pre-interview in early December but heard nothing. I e-mailed againthis week to ask if it was received and finally got a response from a responsive person in admissions. Apparently UIC has had almost 10,000 applicants this year and that was the response for why I am still an "applicant in process" since September. According to this source "Applicant in process or Application in process means your application is either under review or ready for review. Keep in mind that we have received approximately close to 10,000 applications. " 🙁

Anybody know when the next committee meeting is? I'm accepted to the RMED program and waiting for my final committee screening to hear about an official acceptance....

just got an interview invite after being in "applicant in process" for several months. So there is hope for those who are still waiting. I was complete in Sept and sent an update and LOI a month ago.

Congrats!! Are you IS/OOS? For those of us obesseively checking our statuses how will we know about an interview invite? Will be on the first screen or after you press "next". Also applicant in status forever. Really wished they'd give me a chance 😉. And I sent an update a month ago too.

It seems like they only come via snail mail.

based on secretlife's post above, it seems like updating them is a good idea. especially if you tell that what you said here- how you'd love to go there more than anything! i have a feeling that a lot of people who are in limbo there are probably just waiting to see what happens, rather than being proactive, due to other acceptances. I am in the same boat as you as far as being "still under consideration" but since I am pretty much set on another school, I am not actively pursuing it. I can't bring myself to withdraw, yet, but I probably won't update either. So if you do, I bet that will move your app up the stack and past mine. 😳 (mine only being above yours because i interviewed longer ago, of course)

I've been "Application is in Process" since mid-October...Ugh!!! Hopefully that changes soon....🙁

After 4 months of no word, I finally called admissions today and the *VERY UNFRIENDLY* lady at admissions told me they had sent me a letter last week. She wouldn't say what the decision was. Do they only send out interview invites via snail mail, or do they do both rejections and invites?

check your status page. it will tell you if you got an interview.

Status page says a final decision on my application has been mailed to me. I'm assuming that's bad.

yeah if you haven't interviewed yet there is really only one final decision to be made 🙁

did anybody apply to the urban medicine program and get accepted yet? how does the process work?

As far as I know, they receive applications up through the beginning of March and then review them all at once. I feel like I read a March 15th date somewhere... So I wouldn't expect to hear anything until at least late March.

Yeah, I don't believe they review the applications until the deadline--if they're interested in you, you will be invited for a *mandatory* interview during Second Look Day (which is typically last weekend in April). After that, you should hear within a week or so of your interview if you are accepted to the program--so you typically do hear before May 15 so you can make a final decision of where to attend if UMed is a factor for you.

(This is assuming they haven't changed protocol from last year.)

If you have questions about the program, let me know.

Are you in the program bambi?

I seem to have lost my access to the website. Anybody else experiencing this problem?
When I called the admissions office, the lady told me to send an e-mail about the issue so they will be reminded to fix it. It's been a week like this. I've followed up with another e-mail but I'm not getting a response.
Is this just their roundabout way of rejecting me? I've never even been marked "complete". 🙁
I'm getting really depressed. 🙁

...You all mean pre-acceptence right? So, meaning... we apply to UIC indicate interest in UHP and then get considered late April? Or, do you mean those already accepted get considered for the UHP acceptance in late april?

Thanks.

From what I read, I was under the impression that you had to already be accepted but correct me if I'm wrong bambi.....perhaps they make exceptions for those applicants w/ later interviews and/or those who haven't had the opportunity to be reviewed by the march 15th date?

The wait for my site placement letter is killing me! 😱
I can see that they sent it yesterday (most likely), but being out here in CA means it probably will be Friday by the time it comes!

bluskye, how do you know they sent it out yesterday?? just wondering because im waiting for my site placement letter too. did you also get your packet with the january batch? the wait is killing me too!!

Very Interesting....I was recently accepted. Received my package on the 25th and sent my deposit/site preference card in on the 26th. I received my placement this past Saturday.

I wonder what the method is to distributing them.

on your status page...there is now a checklist of "pre-enrollment requirements". The date they have down as having "received" my acceptance form and deposit is the same date that my placement letter was postmarked.

UHP is different than UMed. UHP is the Urban Health Program, which is for minority students. UMed is the Urban Medicine curriculum for those wishing to become physician leaders in urban communities (usually associated with serving the underserved).

I do not know the "admissions" procedure for UHP--I think it's something like...you're a minority, you're in (once you're accepted to UIC, that is). For UMed, you usually apply after you're accepted--however, if you have yet to receive an interview (or think you might have a later interview in March/April) or you're post-interview waiting a decision, I would recommend emailing the UMed office ([email protected]) to see if they recommend applying pre-acceptance. I assume that they only give out interview invites for the UMed spots to accepted candidates.

Got my placement letter and I was placed in Chicago...this was my first choice so I'm pretty excited about that.

Well this truly throws a wrench in the "first come, first served" theory, since you interviewed after some people who didn't get their first choice (though were accepted at the same time, in January).

aaaah I didn't even see that somebody mentioned UHP because the original post that you responded to was about UMED. I was reffering to UMED as well...that's what I applied to. We were allowed to apply prior to acceptance this year. The application was available in September I believe but they sent out an email saying they wouldn't review them until after the deadline. As you mentioned I don't think there is any "application" for UHP...

yeah it's definitely not strictly "first come first served"...I just think the consensus is the earlier you are accepted the better chance you have-ish. On the letter they make sure to include a line about placing people as best as they can according to their preference AND for the best "class fit" or whatever...

Quick question, for my personal curiosity - what's the name of the Dean of Admissions/who is in charge of selecting who gets an interview at UIC?

Has anyone been accepted off the "no final decision has
been reached on your candidacy, but that you are still under consideration."

This is POST INTERVIEW. Anyone know how it works? As in, do they review these files every month in addition to recently interviewed candidates? Is this the same as being waitlisted?

Any help would be appreciated.
