Everyone should just grab a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and relieve some stress. 😛

They ruined the PC version; no dedicated servers, 9v9 max, no custom maps, no mods, random player hosting.... and an increased price tag of $60? Really? For a 5 hour campaign?

I picked up MW2 on Tuesday for the XBox 360 and have been relieving stress daily ever since.

I actually got my letter yesterday and was notified that I have been ACCEPTED! It sounds like I'm going to be a doctor! YEAH!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I'm so happy for you!!!!! You deserve it!
👍

Congrats!!! That's great news, impressive that you were accepted now instead of in March! Best of luck to you, hope I get to be in your class! :xf:

jaydoc24, do you live in KC?

That has to be why yours came yesterday...

Anyways CONGRATS...you deserve it buddy! 🙂

My friend in Manhattan got his yesterday (acceptance) so I'm sure yours is in the mail today.

Grats Jaydoc! Man I bet you're feeling like the king of the world right now. As I said before, you deserve it more than most. As for me, I'm bracing for a hold letter. Mail comes in a couple hours :xf:

Hmm...didn't get the letter today. I'm going to speculate that they sent out acceptances first.

No matter what your letter says, stay confident...that is all I can say. If you love medicine and you want to be a doctor, then you BE A DOCTOR. Do not let anyone or anything stand in your way.

I have listened to some of my family (yes, I typed F-A-M-I-L-Y) ask me why I have not tried going to PA school or nursing school or some other medically-related field. Well, there obviously is nothing wrong with them, but that was not what I wanted. I applied to KU 3 times to get here and was let down hard twice, but I promise you all, this felling I have right now is worth every bit of the wait. I have many people who are very proud of me and my persistence, and the feeling is hard to describe. I will never forget how I felt yesterday, in my entire life.

That feeling can and should belong to you all as well. So if you don't get the response you were hoping for, don't get down...make a phone call, find out what you need to do and do it. Be a doctor.

I look forward to meeting you all next summer, in the meantime, I'll stay active here in the forums and root for you all as you have for me.

👍

Wow....Nothing at all. Cmon KU what's going on?

No letter again today. They must be trying to test my resolve :scared:. I guess they've been deciding things on the fly and just hadn't finished them all before they started mailing.

Woo-hoo!! Congratulations! I know the feeling that you referred to in a later post- indescribable. Look forward to meeting you in July!! Only 250 days left to go.

Sounds like I'm going to have to check out this Office craze... Just the little quotations you've all put has made me laugh out loud.

Just the little quotations you've all put has made me laugh out loud.

You mean "Just the little quotations you've all put has made me LOL."
Don't revert back to English, this is the internet!

Okay, here's the latest theory on the letters. They are sending them out in the order of your interview letter group, so group A was sent out first, B second, etc. I was in group D and another student in group E has also not received a letter. His friend received her letter and she was in group A or B. Jaydoc mentioned interviewing early in the morning as well. So, what do you guys think (besides the observation that this speculation is pointless, because we all know it is and has been since day 1).

Do you guys know who ultimately will make the decision on whether or not an applicant will get accepted? Is it Dr. Barbara Atkinson? Or Sandra McCurdy?

The final decisions are made by a vote, each committee member votes.

nope...ugh.....someone from my interview already got his. group F. Completely at a loss for words.

Quadruple checked the address and it's good in amcas...

😡:scared:🙁😱 Just got my letter today -- On hold...

Well, I will know my status tomorrow. Wish me luck! ...I guess there really isn't any b/c the decision has been made already.

Good luck to you November interviewees, may your letters come with much more haste than mine!

Well, I kind of expected this (as I mentioned above), but I still can't help but think 'what if'. I've got a couple good friends that just got in this year (that I want to room with) and I'd love to go to the same school and be the same year as them, but the dice don't always roll in your favor. I think I've still got a good shot at getting in this year. I just hope I get into KU--otherwise I'll probably end up going somewhere else because I don't want to wait another year. My MCAT is about to expire and it will be tougher to get up-to-date faculty LORs next year, among other things. So, I'll just continue :xf: for March. I might be a little silent until around that time (like Marele took a break from the boards until January 😉).

Good luck to the Nov interviewees and congrats to those of you who were accepted already!

"Accepted"

Congrats! 👍 That's awesome news!

Ozmy, I'm sure that you will have success in March. I am trying not to get my hopes up for an acceptance, but I keep thinking "maybe, just MAYBE I will get an acceptance instead of on hold." The thought of a rejection does haunt me, though. Did you apply to UMKC or KCUMB also?

Good luck to those interview this week! Hope that the whole Thanksgiving holiday doesn't delay your letters more.

Grats UTKD! I knew they'd be crazy to not accept you given your achievements. I'm thinking of writing an update/clarification letter to better explain some things about what I'm doing now and my app. Do you think that is appropriate or should I just wait?

Congrats to those who are accepted!

Good Luck to everyone!

Oh man, Facebook.

Haven't touched that in a long, long time.

Idk Omzy...

They already have everyone ranked, so I don't know how much that'll affect it unless it is something that obviously was misconstrued.

However, if you feel that it's important by all means send it. One caveat though. I wouldn't send it now. I would send it later on in the application cycle. That way, it's I've DONE this since my interview, here's where I am headed, and that's why I am still competitive after Nov, Dec, January, and possibly those pesky February interviewees that'll be on hold.

Good luck man, can't wait to meet ya in July. In the mean time, Temple won't know what hit 'em. 🙂

me too! I <3 facebook. I'm a dork 🙂

To all of those on hold, a ray of hope and correct mathematical analysis. Enjoy:

60 ppl / interview session
- 10 accepted
- 20 denied
- 30 on hold

Sessions: - Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb (5 Sessions)

Fill to 195-200 spots…Let’s go with 195.

195 Class Spots
50 EDP
25 Special Programs / Deferrals
50 Accepted

195-125 = 70 left over

30 hold * 4 sessions = 120 ppl + 60 (Feb Session) = 180 people waiting until March

70 spots / 180 hopefuls = 39 % Acceptance
50 / 180 Waitlist = 28 % Waitlist
60 / 180 Rejected = 33 % Rejection
___________________________________

(Also Related a 44% Chance of being accepted or Top 10 Waitlist ///// [(70+10)/180]

Keep your head up Omzy, previous estimates were incorrect and we all can’t be that pessimistic…

incorrect. there are SIX interview sessions. TWO in January. don't question my stats! haha

anyways, you have about a 25% chance of getting in in March if you're put on hold. I'm not saying Omzy should be pessimistic, I'm just saying you shouldn't be overly optimistic. Talk to the hundreds of people who were put on hold till March in past years. Most likely, On hold till March = waitlist. Generally, waitlist=don't count on it. There's absolutely NO WAY you can calculate your stats of getting in off the waitlist. If you had been waitlisted yourself as some point, then you'd understand. They send a letter to waitlistees with the number of ppl off the waitlist per year over the last like 5 years. There's absolutely no correlation or pattern from year to year. One year it's 30 ppl, the next it's like 3.

To all of those on hold, a ray of hope and correct mathematical analysis. Enjoy:

If I remember from earlier in this thread, Jayhawk was accepted through early decision this year and will start with us in the fall.

Two sessions? Well that maybe true, however Sandra commented several times during my interview day that the January and February sessions have much less than 60 people. She even said "we have conservative rolling admissions" so I can honestly tell the last 28 people that trickle in each interview in january and february that they all can get a spot."

So maybe 6 sessions, but the revised analysis wouldn't change the percentages much... 😛

Anyways...the previous estimate only scaled to 175 spots, not 195-200. Already...the chances even with the previous numbers are better than 25 %

yeah, I was accepted EDP, so I'll see you all in July!

Thanks UTKD, those percentages do add up and seem to be about what I was thinking. So, somewhere between a third and a half chance at being accepted in March. Not bad, I say. I honestly think my application is the caliber that might be passed over for EDP and first-round RD and then be accepted or put at the top of the waitlist after hold. I was right about being put on hold. Hopefully I'm right about this. Interviewing at Temple on Wednesday, wish me :luck:!

Congrats to those that got accepted! and good luck to Omzy! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Wow, I've been offline too long; work has been keeping me too busy. UTKD~ Congrats on your acceptance!! Omzy~ Hope Temple went well, but really hope to see you on Rainbow Ave in July.

237 days left. What's everyone doing with them?

Thanks for the good luck wishes guys, I just interviewed there on 11/25 and I think I did much better than I did at KU. I guess I just wait and see what cards I'm dealt now. This might become interesting...😳

Just got my letter today. Accepted! Anyone else hear back?

Hey guys, I am a current med student at KU and would be happy to help answer any questions for those waiting to interview, already accepted but unsure or those that are totally set on coming next year. Just send me a message!
