No they said a packet will take probably another day or two to receive in the mail (No e-mail either). I almost am nervous it was a great prank call by a friend as I assumed they wouldn't be calling till tomorrow and especially not Monday morning bright and early....

Same here. Perez completely caught me off guard. When I picked up the phone all I heard was " Jonathan" and "USF". I thought he was probably a student I had met on interview day. I had eight things going on at the time, and all I could think was, "How did this kid get my number?"

Congrats everyone! can't wait to meet everyone at second look and in august!!!

randomly got an interview for 3/16

Hey, I yet to have receive an acceptance packet in the mail and kinda want to decide on whether or not to buy a plane ticket for second look as I am OOS and prices keep going up. Can someone please provide details on exactly what it is and what is going to be addressed and the importance of it. Thanks.

From my understanding, it's completely optional to attend. The purpose of it is for students to see the school again to make sure that's where they'd like to go. I'm assuming second look days are used mostly by students with more than one acceptance to decide between schools. This is my only acceptance, but I'm going just because I want to meet my potential classmates, and because it's only a 20 minute drive from my house. I'm sure the same types of things that were addressed at the interview are addressed here, but less formally and with more time for more questions. Hope that helps some! See ya in April (if you come)! 🙂

With the addition of hospital tours, which were omitted from the interview day due to time constraints.

Oh yes! That too...I remember them saying that at the interview. TGH is awesome! Definitely worth seeing

Hey yall,

I guess I'm gonna go ahead and send an updated transcript to USF. I interviewed in October and they never responded, no waitlist/acceptance/rejection. On their website it says not to send an update unless you've interviewed and have "new scholarly" endeavors...

So I guess that counts.... straight A's in a bunch of upper level chemistry/bio courses.

Hello, I just got all my forms and transcripts in on March 4th so how long should it be now? Any guess will be fine.

No just the 4 year for now and then hopefully applying for med later on.

I don't understand either. If you're applying just for USF undergrad, I think you're extremely early...and if you're applying for USF med school, you're extremely late. Either way, something is off. I don't know about the timeline for the masters programs though...

Simply put I am applying for an undergrad 4 year program for biochemistry

Then I think you're in the wrong forum...this is for those who are applying to USF's med school.

As far as undergrad goes, most people submit those applications in August and hear either by the end of fall semester or beginning of spring. There are no interviews to do (or at least there weren't when I applied), just submit the app and hope for the best. Good luck!

Cool! A hunter/jumper in our class. Not sure who in our school rides if anyone.

I crossed over last August! I grew up riding dressage and was ready for a change. I went to Red Hills Horse Trials this past weekend, and it got me pumped!!

I've had my app completed since december. haven't heard from the school yet. Don't want to sent any LOI or updates, since it seems they clearly don't like it. But I guess they have interviews til mid may. do you think there is still hope? or is it only hopeful for the most competitive applicants?😕

Ahh I see thank you and hopefully I will be seeing all of you soon, I just moved from NY to FL and found Tampa to be a great area, and if im able to transfer there it would be all the sweeter. 😀

Keep annoying them, acting interested and keeping them fresh in their head will only help

Interviews end at the end of March.

Sorry probably not appropriate place to post, but desperate as I am too broke to fly back out to USF and look at apartments so as an OOS I have been looking at housing via internet. Can anybody make a recommendation for the On50 apartment complex across from campus? Thanks in advance.

There will be a housing guide released from the student affairs office in the next month or so. Housing is easy to get in this area, so there is no need to rush.

I lived there for a year and a half. Moved out last July. It's decent for the price you pay. I had the large 3/2 townhome and my rent was like 600 and that included everything. But they only give you a $40/mo electricity allowance and most months we went over that by at least 20 bucks.

The place itself is crawling with undergrads. I personally didn't know any grad students who lived there. My apt had a view of the pool, which was nice, but it was loud because people liked to have parties down there.

I personally wouldn't live there again. I didn't really have any problems with the office people, but the people who live in the complex bothered me. I could hear my neighbors having sex every so often, people would trash the grounds (there are ponds in the middle of every building and they're usually filthy because of all the **** people throw in them), it's just a very undergrad college place to live, and I got sick of the "college" life.

If you want any help or advice about places around USF, I've researched them exhaustively in my years living in Tampa, so I'd be more than willing to give you my opinion on places to look at or avoid. PM me if ya want!

got the email this morning. wait listed. interviewed in dec.

anyone know how the movement is from the wait list? problem is that FSU for example starts in June. What if I accept there, but later get moved off USF's waitlist this summer??? USF is my top FL choice!
Just hope I know before then!!
Also, anyone know if USF might be willing to give info on waitlist position? I would love to know my odds. I live in Tampa and dont want to move!

ok well no worries guys, i just called and they are unable to give wait list rank info out since they have not yet finished interviews. I was advised by the nice admissions officer Adrienne to email J Perez or to MAYBE call back later and they might have that information. Really though, i like all their office staff, they seem to be empathetic with our situation and really want to help us out. Guys, you know its not their fault if they don't have the info we desire!
Anyway. movement starts may 15 and continues even through the summer. She said that there is actually a lot of movement in the summer, sooo don't loose hope even then!

They probably will not release waitlist positions. You're best bet is to wait until the end of the month, and then call or send an email detailing your situation and ask, politely, for advice.

Waitlisted...trying to hope for the best 🙂

Interviewed 2/2, Got the email early this morning, and the letter in the mail today.

Don't live anywhere near the university if you want to have any peace and quiet, which you will need plenty of to study.

They will definitely NOT tell you where you are on the waitlist.

Nice! My mom used to do hunter/jumper (leased horses) and my friend does up in Maryland. I don't think anyone in our class does. If you do come down here to USF for school, you should have enough free time to ride during first year. Most of us have a lot of free time and start really studying with 1 week to go (as long as you're up to date on lectures and making study guides). We have an exam on Friday so I need to get back to studying. 🙂 Pulmonary block now...thank god we're done with msk, nervous system, and cardio. 8 more weeks til final exam! 🙂

P.S. for anyone else already planning on coming here, you do NOT need to buy a new laptop or printer. I have a really old printer from high school (laser jet) to print the random stuff I need (all my notes are on my computer). Plus, if you REALLY want to print stuff, just buy paper and use the printers on campus at no cost (so why waste toner/ink at home?).

A few of my classmates still use their 5+ year old Dell laptops. I would have used my old Dell since it still worked, but I had it for 6 years when classes started and wanted a new one anyway. I suggest buying a laptop on your own outside of school. It's much cheaper (theirs are like $1,300 and mine was 1/2 that), but they have warranties and replacement deals. From what I've seen, the people that bought computers through school have had the most computer problems. Mine has had zero issue.

Hi everyone,

I just got an interview invite. Does anyone know if their med school class is already full? I'm wondering if they are interviewing people for waitlist spots.

Thanks.

I'm wondering the same thing. I interviewed on Feb. 16th. They said I would hear something in 2-4 weeks but I've heard nothing so far. 😕 Anyone have any news?

I highly doubt anyone said 2-4 weeks, no one has been hearing that soon. Just be patient

They do not interview for waitlist positions.

The applicants who have been accepted have been getting a call immediately after the committee meets - which may be 2-3 weeks after an interview date. Everyone else hears a little bit after that.

They are not going to waste your time. There are still spots available. Just shine on your interview day and maybe one of them will be yours 🙂

They DO tell you that, and I DID hear within 2-4 weeks (3 weeks actually). I was accepted though. So like someone else mentioned, those who aren't accepted right away probably hear later.

I also received an invite this morning. I am a little discouraged tho b/c I have interviewed at 2 other IS schools and have been waitlisted and put on hold. I really want to stay in FL and USF would b great!

Yes, they did say 2-4 weeks on the Feb 16th date, I was there too. In fact, people who interviewed both Feb 2 and 9th have posted here that they were contacted 2-3 weeks later (same day for both).

I'm going to second look also! Im excited to meet everyone and get more info about the program!

Did any of you send updates post interview? If so, how long did you wait to send it? It's been three weeks since my interview and I am debating when I should send it.
