Just withdrew my acceptance to UACOM-P...really liked the school, it was the hardest decision I've had to make.

thanks for letting us know and congrats on your other acceptances. hopefully, we will see some movement on phoenix's WL tomorrow.

I'll be doing the same later tonight. Hopefully the seat goes to one of you SDNers 👍.

To champaigne and hoot: are you in state or out of state?

several pages ago someone said that it was speculated there would be greater wait list movement this year than last year - does anyone know why? just wishful thinking or fact based? just trying to keep hopes up 🙂

Because of dual acceptances from both schools and an increased number of OOS applicants/acceptances.

Just though I'd let you all know that I spoke with the Phoenix admissions office, and was told not to expect any movement off of the waitlist until Wednesday at the earliest (that is if there is any movement). Students have until 5 today to withdraw, then the committee has to meet, etc.

Good luck, everyone. And congrats to SO!

News from Phoenix...Received information from a credible source that UA-PHX is pretty overbooked in terms of the amount of acceptances they handed out so hoepfully waitlist movement isnt going to be slim to none. :luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:

When I was accepted at the Phoenix campus I looked at the acceptance list some time in late February and it looked like it already had around 90 acceptances for 48 seats. Not to bring bad news for anyone hoping to get in off the waitlist. I gave my seat up so I hope a SDN'er gets it!

thanks for letting us know! The more information we have, the better.

Can we please make a time machine and jump to July where we all know the final outcome?

neurojunkie, you work in research, right? Make it happen!

Arizona Gov Brewer signed House Bill 2410 recently giving honorably discharged veterans automatic in state tuition rates.

If any of you veterans are on the fence and currently OOS this could be a deciding factor!

Governor Jan Brewer is the number one 'against' factor on my benefit-of-attendance analysis. :barf:

PsychDO has graciously accepted the tedious task of updating your weekly WL movement graphs :bow:😎:highfive:👍 Thanks! Here's an update, and the movement seems very linear.

I'm not aware of why this might be so, I just know that there are several factors that affect WL movement, including the movement at other schools. Hopefully anything admissions did/does helps out WLers 😀 All we can do is guesstimate.

If we want to piggyback off the admissions committee's predictions for the year, we need to know how many WL spots they have given out. I think they usually expect 50-60% of the WL to be pulled. Last year we knew there were at least 123 spots, 123x.6 = 73. There were probably more spots though, so 73 may have been 50-55% of the total. I'm going to stop speculating now. My best guess is it'll be similar to last year. K, I'm done. 🙂

Challenge accepted. However, in order to get proper IRB approval, we may not see a prototype until late June/early July. However, I can assure you that after a few minutes of tinkering around, you will be able to move forward in time by AT LEAST a few minutes.

Also, what about funding? We're gonna need at least an R01 for this. You get started writing the grant, I'll catch up later and maybe do some editing.

Well said! Gave me a good laugh!

No worries. I have an old grant that I need to spend down before it expires....and being that UA research funding regulations won't allow for me to spend grant money on a commercial espresso machine (see below), I might as well build a time machine for my fellow SDNers.

Luckily, my watch is constitutively set to "coffee o'clock". Having an espresso machine of that caliber may actually end up being problematic, because I know that I would want to convert it into a backpack, install a remote power supply, and take it everywhere I go.

i think i'm hoping someone will come up with a magical equation that'll tell us at what number and when the wait list will stop - boo having to be patient. thanks for help with the speculation!

I think we'll all hoping it goes up to 97 or 120 at LEAST.

What's your waitlist #? I'll add you to the list and you can be part of the speculation/waitlist tracking graph.

And then you convert one of those beer hats into a coffee hat. Hands free!

Love it! In the same theme, I want the Margaritaville battery powered frozen concoction maker....it's 5 o'clock somewhere...

has there been any movement from phoenix at all...or should I just give up all hope???

Does anyone know if Tucson has seen any movement as a result of Phoenix?

Someone in a previous message said that Phoenix won't be making any decisions on the waitlist until today because their committee has to meet. I assume that they are going to meet every week or so to decide on the waitlist candidates.

I think they said today at the earliest, so they might not release seats until later in the week.

Yes, I was told Wednesday at the earliest by PHX. If anyone has a spare minute, they could always call and ask what's going on.👍

I called, but didn't get a straightforward response from Joy. She did say that, to her knowledge, nobody has been taken off the wait list yet. She also said that they are anticipating Tara making calls approximately every 2 weeks, if seats are available. But I was not able to get news on if any movement will occur today or if there are any seats currently unfilled.

If anyone has any updated info or wishes to call in, please do let us know what you hear. Thanks in advance!

Called Tucson today and they said that the WL was sitting at #18 as of this morning. Good luck everyone!!

Does anyone know if the waitlist is still at 18? I assume it is below 22 since we haven't heard anything from jdog.

I am trying to figure out how to make it bigger, but here is the first installment of the waitlist. If you squint, you can see that we're right on track with last year's waitlist movement (last year it hit waitlist position #23 on 4/26).

jdog40 accepted 4/25. Go wildcats🙂

Were you accepted to Tucson or Phoenix jdog40? I called Tucson this morning and they said they were only at #18 still. Hmm, maybe the person who answered was just behind in the tally?

On the plus side of things, this year has the steepest slope for a waitlist acceptance curve yet.

My guess is that's because the waitlist was published later than most years...Still a good sign though

it's good to see all this movement happening at tucson and congrats to everyone who has already gotten good news!

on the other hand, nobody seems to have heard a peep from phoenix. it's been a week since people have firmly committed to their seats, so i hope movement is on the horizon. anybody hear anything as of late?
