There are still several spots and a giant waitlist. It's bound to happen. I have a hard time seeing either of us getting rejected out-right....but then again, I have absolutely no idea as to how my application is doing in the applicant pool, just trying to be hopeful.

But, on a semi-related note, there's a pretty sick coffee market called Savaya in Tucson. They have coffee from all over the world, their own roaster, and they taught me everything I know about coffee tasting.

I say we make this happen when we show up for orientation!

You should! I am hoping to do a 6 week tour of the western US and hit up Yos, Tetons, Zion (and the narrows!), Ranier, the Bugaboos etc (okay, so that last one is in Canada. But it is still awesome). This might be my last big chunk of vacation and I want to take advantage of it!

Those are far more expansive than my plans. I'm going to San Fran, and maybe Alaska, depending on how things go.

with a giant cup of Guatemala's finest. Hand-picked/roasted, after all, we were just there.

I may not have been accepted yet, but I have already started looking at motorcycles to reward myself with. I take the course this weekend.

That sounds like a really bomb trip. I was thinking of going south, hit the beaches and the cheap latino food (my passion - my body shows it xD). I was hoping to hit Costa Rica and camp out by a public beach for a few days - all on a motorcycle journey of a lifetime.

I haven't planned out my reward yet too much yet, but hopefully I will have reason to think about it soon! 🙂

If you end up heading down to costa rica, let me know. I spent 8 months there and I have some tico friends who are very hospitable. Also, I can tell you what NOT to do.

I offer an open invitation to come along! That sounds like an offer I cannot refuse. When I get this a better planned out, You all shall know first.

I feel like your "what not to do" list comes from experience : P Do share!

I like how this thread has turned into a "what are your summer plans" conversation instead of a "I clicked my e-mail refresh button 30 times in the last 2 minutes!" conversation.

We're doing a better job of pretending like we aren't obsessing today!

Oh, Rainier. Gorgeous mountain. I just did Mt. Adams this last weekend and it definitely made me decide that my mountaineering is best left for the summer months.

As a WA girl, Rainier is dear to my heart, but definitely safer in Julyish. Every year rescuers are sent after some unskilled climbers in the winter and spring. The route from the highest visitor station is more like a hike than a hard core climb, but other routes are more intense. Baker and Shuksan are also amazing climbs.

As for Costa Rica, love it, got married there, can't wait for the chance to go back!

Kona coffee is a fun one to try too, and I always have Costa Rican in the cupboard.

GL everyone!

Where did you get married? And did you know you can buy Cafe Britt online?

I got married on the beach just outside Jaco on the was to Hermosa. We rented a house across from Casa del Mar. Manuel Antonio was so amazing!

I will have to look for the Britt online...thanks for the tip!

Not to ruin the moment, but I just had a meeting for a clinical trial I'm involved with, and our meeting spot was in the Admissions Office right across the hall from a conference room containing Ann Braucci et al., I know, this is Tucson, but there were people in the Admissions conference room, and they were doing stuff....whatever that may be.

Talk about being distracted during a meeting.

Aw, and we were doing such a good job of not talking about admissions!

Congrats on the possible wedding, man! Alaska can be gorgeous in the summer (and a nice break from AZ weather).

Alaska sounds really cool. I have a few friends living there now and they love the summers. I totally recommend a cool wedding spot!

Wow...I don't know how you focussed staring at the meeting...props to you! So, when does the official obsessing begin on this one?!?! Jk....I know it began a long time ago 😉.

I feel like the obsessing really begins around 3pm, since Phoenix sends out their e-mails close to 5.

@PsychDO...that sound reasonable...I will rest my resresh button until later...lol.

@neuro... I am thinking you could go all CIA and install secret listening devices in the conference room...ok probably a bad idea 🙂.

The CIA mission sounds like a go. I'll also have to slide my folder into the acceptance pile while I'm at it.

As for the Alaskan wedding, it's really just a matter of whether we can afford it.

The lab kind of/sort of pays the bills, but a wedding is a whole different story.

Can you slide mine in too?

I totally understand about the cost. It actually turned out cheaper for us to do the destination thing. Good luck!

Bah! I can't wait for March, for this all to be over. Of course, I may end up being number 70 on the waitlist or something, and have to continue obsessively checking SDN until August 1st lol. Good times.

I'm sure I'll be right there with you. Be strong!

PsychDO, I need the blueprints on the time machine that we discussed. This is taking way too long!

How sure are you guys that today is a release date?

Just stepped outside and called. "The committee just finished their meeting and they're likely to go out in the next half hour or so."

Time to distract myself with cell culture...talk to you all in about 30

Wow....Neuro.... Thanks for calling and letting us know!

GL everyone! May our refresh buttons make it thru this afternoon.

Is it just Phoenix today or Tucson too? I know there was only supposed to be one final wave from Tucson, but with Neurojunkie's fine covert ops mission, it looked like Tucson maybe up too?!?!

@Neuro....so now do we depend on the tiny postman that delivers the emails through a series of tubes when the Internet is broken? 😉
