Thanks Brrooother! I was wondering why you decided to go to the Phoenix campus over the Tucson campus. I was accepted to both and am really trying to figure out which school would be best.

Thanks for your input in advance!

Hey colts,

I was trying to PM you, but they must have changed something and I can't figure out how... anyway, I'll figure it out later, but briefly: it really comes down to the best "fit" for you. I know this becomes sort of an eye-roll-worthy phrase during the application process, but it's so true. I was accepted to both Tucson and Phoenix and was pretty sure that Phoenix was the right school for me, but I did a re-visit just to make sure (which I would highly recommend). I definitely felt that I would be more than thrilled to attend either school and was SO excited to be accepted at either, and I almost hated having to choose!

For me, I decided late in undergrad to be pre-med and ended up spending eight years getting two separate degrees, so I was really looking to get away from the large university campus thing. I also was extremely drawn to the small class size at Phoenix - I felt it added a layer of pressure to always be professional and put my best foot forward, and I felt that would be good for me (in addition to creating a tight-knit family of students). Although there are similarities between Tucson and Phoenix curricula, the curriculum at Phoenix also attracted me to that campus (mainly Capstone weeks and LCE), and the different opportunities for research and shadowing (both schools have this, but I liked the more independent do-it-yourself approach in Phoenix due to the lack of attached teaching hospital). I absolutely don't feel that one school is better than the other, it was purely the environment I saw myself thriving in. I think the schools both create great medical students and doctors, and for me, the Phoenix campus's approach to medical education (although some could say it is risky being a newer school) was what I was looking for.

If you have more questions or want more specifics, PM me so that I can reply (please forgive my computer disability!). 🙂

Congrats to all those accepted, looks like those acceptance emails went out Friday after all. 🙂 As much as PHX would have been my preference for the same reasons Brrooother mentioned above, Tucson is still a great school and I'm sure we all (or IS at least) have a decent shot there.

And for all of you counting on Tucson for your first acceptance, I'm pulling for you even more than for myself! :xf: As much as I would prefer not to have to move cross-country and pay higher tuition, it certainly beats wondering whether I'll even get my shot. Good luck! :luck:

Anyone want to call Tucson to see if there is a definitive release date for this week?

Also, after the long wait period for this application season, I've had time to rethink my interview strategy....and in hindsight, bursting in the interviewer's office and yelling "waka flaka" probably wasn't the best idea for an introduction....

Although, it did work surprisingly well for some of the MMI prompts.

Appropriate? perhaps not....Awesome? Most definitely 🙂

Haha, ridiculously awesome.

I just called and Ann said not earlier than Wednesday, probably Wednesday or Thursday. Refresh buttons have relief for another day or so 😉.

for Phoneix, does anyone know roughly how many ppl are waitlisted vs rejected?

:xf: to everyone!

Difficult to say since this is their first year of independent admissions. Just speculation but I think many more will be rejected than waitlisted...if you consider they have around 16 interview dates @ approximately 20 people per day, that would mean around 320 interview. There are 48 seats, but rumor around here has been that around 90-100 have been accepted outright due to attrition. That leaves around 220 for waitlist/reject, and with a class size of 48 I doubt they would need a waitlist of more than 40-50 at the absolute high-end. Going with the optimistic prediction of 50 waitlist, that means 170 out of the remaining 220 will still receive an outright rejection.

I don't think that was the last round... at least I'm praying that that wasn't the last round.

It's only Tuesday after all.

I received that email earlier than intended due to veteran benefits. The actual wave is to come in upcoming days. Please do not worry. And try to disregard what unsaid til then 🙂

Will repost info when appropriate.

Accepted to UA Phoenix on Friday afternoon!! Looks like 90 people received acceptances thus far, and from the interview day, and I remember being told they accepted 125 total peeps last year. Good luck to the rest of you patiently waiting!!!

Congrats, Nevryn!

and to all my other SDN buddies that have been enduring the agonizing wait with me...

Oh snap, it's on like donkey kong.

Within the next 2 weeks, we will have a rough idea of what the next year will hold for us, so hang in there and try to focus on something completely non-med school related for awhile.

With this in mind, I've arranged to play full court basketball with some friends all afternoon for the next few days so that I cannot be clicking away and worrying.

Limetime- How is everyone holding up in your part of WA? We are buried deep over here and losing power. It is definitely an adventurous beginning to March!

We got a little relief yesterday, but it is snowing again now. I saw how bad it was looking your way. We have power....for now. Did you get canceled? We didn't, but it started to worsen after work started. I was thinking a couple weeks ago that we were going to get off easy this year...ya right! I just have to say that Punxatawney Phil lies...lol.

Neuro...sounds like a great idea! I wish we cold be outside up here instead of trapped near the all-too-tempting Internet machines.

Good luck everyone!

Understandably so. It's ~80 in Tucson now, but by the time summer rolls around, it'll be 120 here and 80 in Washington.

i am relieved that the date is in the much foreseeable future... only a few more days until i know i am not in, or i know i am maybe in.
the latter will indicate resetting this waiting process, which at this point is all one can ask for

Does anyone know how many have been accepted in Tuscon so far?

Good luck to everyone tomorrow - or Thursday - whenever the rollout happens to be 😀

This next roll-out will also inform everyone who is waitlisted/rejected by email, right?

As I understand it, from looking at the graphs for last year, the Tucson waitlist may not come out for another week or two.
