I've basically already given up and shifted into Improve-app-for-next-year mode, but some small part of me foolishly keeps checking my email and this thread to see when the last Interview invites go out.

In the upper half of the upper third, hoping to hear acceptance soon!

I have a question about it though that I forgot to ask REL on the phone and he might be the only one who can answer this but here goes: I am OOS so does that make it harder to get off the "list" and get accepted? Will I only get a spot in the class if someone else OOS drops their spot or could it be anyone ( this being after all interviews are over and decided)? Thanks!

Don't give up hope yet. I'm right there with you. If we don't hear anything within the next four days, then we can give up and move on, but until then, you and I can continue to check our phones and email as foolishly as it seems.

I'm in the same boat. I remember someone from admissions mentioning that they have a limit for OOS applicants they can accept. Assuming all the OOS seats are filled, we would have to wait for an OOS applicant to give up their seat.

Hopefully we can get off the list before second look.

During my interview last month, REL stated that the class will be composed of up to a maximum of 25% OOS students, so I think that if they've met that quota then the waitlist for OOS would only move as these students drop their acceptances.

Mind you the OOS class composition statistic is verbatim from REL, but the rest is pure speculation.

^ Yeah, thats pretty much how it works. But, I do believe that he said its not a cap on OOS, its more like a minimum of IS of I think 75-80%. So they could accept 85% IS, just not 70% for example.

But, if REL would chime in to correct me, that would be great.

Pre-interview rejection today, complete mid-October. In state, stats around UCF's averages. Best of luck to everyone still in the game, I have heard amazing things about UCF!

😱 Already giving out pre-interview rejections? I'm still hoping for an invite but I think that hope should now be dwindling. Regardless, congrats to all those accepted, or whom will be accepted in the near future.

Hmmmm...end of the week and no rejection or interview...still praying for an interview here :xf:...but if the last interviews went out this week i guess it's too late.

I didn't hear anything either, so I'm still hoping lol. Did anyone else hear anything in the way of an interview or pre-interview rejection.

Same here, neither rejection or phone call. Bit confused, but we'll see how it pans out.

Yeah kinda odd that they started rejecting a few people but not everyone. Just wait and see I guess.

For those of you already accepted, was anyone able to find the facebook group for our class?

Hi everyone!!

I was curious, once we are on the "waitlist" and we are told our position (like upper third or middle third), do we move from that position if someone is given a higher score than us in a later interview session? Or do we keep that same position? What are your thoughts?

Since your position on the waitlist is dependent on the 'score' that you're given by the admissions committee, I think that people can move ahead of you in line for the waitlist.

However, since there are so many people on the waitlist, I think that the impact of someone with a higher score getting on the waitlist has on your position is negligible and that you still remain within the 'range' that REL assigns you (which is also probably why he doesn't give exact numerical positions). This is under the assumption, of course, that the admissions committee is giving comparable scores to candidates with similar qualifications.

Keep in mind that I'm not a member of the admissions committee at UCF or any other school, and this is pure speculation from the knowledge that I have about the process being an interviewee and my own logical conclusions. In other words, take this info with a grain of salt.

Thank you! I hope you are right! When do you think the list gets finalized (as in no more interviewees being added to it?)

Hm... I haven't received an invite or a rejection letter. Several of my friends have received rejections, so I find it kind of weird not hearing anything yet. Is anyone else in the same boat?

I'm still right there with you. What day of the week does REL usually call for invites?

He usually does not call on Monday's or Friday's. From what he has told me, they have two more interview days to fill out with about ~5 total offers remaining. He hopes to be done tomorrow, but certainly by Thursday.

About 10 have been successful, but it evidently takes some digging since it is a new and smaller group.....

Thanks for the reply REL...

You would think the search function would allow you to find the group by searching for the exact group name though..... It seems i am not as facebook savvy as i would like 🙁 lol

It is very troublesome to me why it cannot be found. I gave up electronic media like FB when I retired in 1988.....so FB is not my forte by choice. Others who do say all is fine....but if only 10-12 can find it...that is a problem.

Thanks for getting things straightened out!

Nothing to worry about, we keep open seats all the way through so you will interview for an open seat. The day was cancelled because of a meeting this Friday which needs admissions participation.

Thanks REL,

I figured it was something unavoidable, i just worried that there would only be wait-list spots opened. looking forward to it. Glad I still have a chance to snag one of those spots and become an Orlando native.

Are there anymore interview offers remaining? :xf:

I'm wondering the same thing, eek!! I'm in the same boat as you FloridaMD3 and looneytune too. I counted 4 of us that posted on here that still haven't been officially rejected for an interview yet. I'm hoping for good news for all of us!!! :xf:

I hope at least one of us gets an invite so that someone on SDN can say they got one of the last invites, if not the last, for UCF. Good luck guys.

UCF makes sure that each interviewee right up to the last date gets a fair shot at a seat in the medical school. They tend to score you and based on where you score vs. other applicants will determine whether you get a seat right away or otherwise your position on the wait/hold list. If people who interview after you score higher then you, you can be bumped lower on that waitlist, if they score lower you can be bumped higher or you can also potentially remain roughly the same position. So my understanding is that people who interviewed before who are higher on that rank list can potentially be pulled off if no one from the new interview group ranks higher then them. if the people from the new interview group rank higher they can potentially get accepted. Rel has stated that roughly 7 people are getting accepted each admit meeting from earlier posts on here.

you will have a fair shot whether you interview day number one or u are the last interview date as March 11th was supposed to be but may no longer be.

Good luck and don't fret. There are lots of people I know who have gotten into various med schools even with very, very, very late interviews and lots of people I know who had really early interviews and went to the very bottom of the waitlist or rejected. So interviewing earlier doesn't mean they necessarily like you more then a later interviewee or are going to fill their whole class up before the rest of the pool is done interviewing. Good luck

Guju,

I think you should know that its nice to see an encourager and a socially adept person on here. Thanks for being a ray of sunshine on these florida threads. I hope you get your spot at UCF for sure.

What would be more badass is if some of SDN posters end up together as classmates. 🙂

Is anyone afraid of the UCF's pending LCME accreditation in 2013? I wonder if the charter class students are loosing sleep about it. Anyone recall what are the odds/chances of not becoming accredited/becoming accredited, how certain is it? And what would be the repercussions for someone who is an US MD graduate from a non-LCME accredited institution...hmmmm

sighhh no interview for me 🙁 good luck to everyone else!!!

Did you get a rejection email? I got a call from a 407 number, but it was a wrong number 🙁 Oh cruel world, lol. I still haven't heard anything either.

Oh my god that's harsh...

I also haven't received a rejection/invite

Fact is if they wouldn't let them graduate from a US institution if it is not LCME accredited and an MD school. No MD school would be able to operate in the US that is not LCME accredited. And in fact, the graduation of a first charter class is part of what completes the accreditation process. So if anything upon graduation they will have finished the 5th phase of accreditation and now be on contract for an 8 year agreement as a fully accredited school.

This is in fact the reason why the first few classes were the most critical to choose because they represent the people who will help bring full accreditation to the school.

GujuDoc, thanks for the elaborated explanation of the LCME accrediation timeline for UCF. Do you belive that the graduates from UCF will have the same chances for residency as the ones lets say from UM of UF? Granted, the school and the program are new and the reputation is yet to be made, but it bears to ask if they will be seen in the same light (as competitive) once they're up against residency slection criteria as the ones from private, more established institutions (UM/UF)? boards scores kept same😕

I got an email this morning saying that I'm pretty much rejected but if for some reason (miracle) someone cancels their interview for the new two sessions then I'm on a list to take their spot. But who would be crazy enough to cancel an interview at UCF?!?! sighh. I'll try again next year 🙂

And that random 407 number would drive me crazy too!!

I recently received the rejection email. I would have loved being at UCF. Best of luck to all of you.

Just got the rejection also. Kinda sad since UCF has been my number one for years now, but I am really happy for all those that have interviewed and have been accepted there. Good luck to you guys. As an Orlando native, I promise you that you will be happy here.

Did those who interviewed on the 4th get an email from REL today stating the LCME pushed things back a week? I didnt understand exactly what the email meant. It almost seemed like I would still hear back March 3rd/4th like was stated during the interview. Or is it that the decision will be made on that date, and it will be another week until we hear back?

In fact, as I read it a second time, it sounds exactly like it was postponed a week. Silly me 😛.
I just wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know that your file will be reviewed tonight at the Admissions Committee meeting, but that the Admit Meeting for you has been changed to March 3 due to the LCME visit last week. I wish you well.

I am glad that this was brought up guju and i agree with everything u said... But, are omc and fl hospitals as prestigous residency programs as shands at uf? Also are they really considered full blown teaching hospitals like shands or jackson? These are things i was wondering and thinking about and talkng with my fam about tue last few days

I have been working at Florida Hospital for several years. Can I go anywhere and people know what Florida Hospital is? No. Shands? There is a chance. But think about what you want to do in the future. Do you want to go into an ultra competitive field? Shands may be best. Do you want to do family practice? Florida Hospital would be much better for that. PM me if you want to know anything specific about Florida Hospital.

Remember that the Florida Hospital Group is a part of the Seventh Day Adventist HC System which is one of the top 5 in the nation. They just added the UCH hospitals in Tampa area to Florida Hospitals.
