soooo since some people heard on 10/15 are we thinking maybe they make friday calls? so maybe another round today? if this is on a podcast, please accept my most sincere apology. but also relay the information from the podcast if you have it 🙂

fyi, my status still says "Interview Complete".

Hope that helps!

snail mail received yesterday postmarked 10/26. i'm a "continued" applicant, as defined in the podcast transcript. basically not immediately accepted. continued applicants are looked at each time the committee meets. if you are still on the continued list at the end of the regular cycle, your are placed on the waitlist. that's how i understood it. i interviewed 8/30 and live in the midwest. good luck everyone!

I got accepted yesterday!! So excited...trying to decide if I should still fly out for my Northwestern interview. Does anyone have any thoughts on Pritzker vs. NW?

Congratulations! How did you find out, if you don't mind me asking? Phone call or email? I interviewed mid-september.

Also re: NW vs. Chicago, having interviewed at both places, I would say it is definitely worth it to go NW. The school has some amazing facilities, and it is by far in the nicest neighborhood of the city (the students and the faculty call it the magnificent mile or the gold coast). They have great research as well.

Thanks! I got a call in the morning. I am intrigued by NW, but not sure it's worth the $$ and time to fly out when I really liked Pritzker, and the school seems to fit well with my interests. How is NW's financial aid?

Not as good as Prizker. Pritzker reduced its class size to 88 in order to be able to offer better financial packages to their students. Feinberg has much higher debt. If you're dead set on Pritzker, I can almost guarantee it will be cheaper than Feinberg. However, it's your call. You may end up liking it more than Prizker. However, you will likely pay more to go to Feinberg than Pritzker.

NW's average debt is about 150k, if that helps you to gauge things. They definitely don't have as much money to go around, but their curriculum, environment, and other aspects (research, dual-degree programs, etc.) are very different from Pritzker. It might be worth looking into the differences and seeing if NW sounds like a good fit for you or not.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!!

After being complete for almost 7 weeks, I was finally rejected. Gluck to the rest of you still in the running. UChicago is a great school.

I'm so sorry for this. I believe you will hear some good news from others soon. Relax 🙂😍
PS: If you don't mind, how did you find out? By Status page, email notice, or snail mail? Thank you very much

i'd like to know the same. It's been 8 weeks for good. This is my absolute top choice, but I'm not feeling too optimistic at this point. I kinda just want to know now to get it over with.

Hey were you at Feinberg this past Friday, by any chance?

Oh and for those monitoring this forum anxiously for news, I got my dreaded continued status letter in the mail...
I interviewed mid-september, FWIW.

i found out through email. best of luck to the rest of you! my status probably changed as well but i didn't check.

If I turn in the secondary now, do I still have a decent chance of getting an interview, or is it too late in the game?

hahaha yes, I assume you were too? I think I may know who you are.. though I could be entirely wrong. Sorry to hear about the continued status, although it's very possible you'll just get accepted later. 🙂

Hahaha yeah I was there on Friday as well. If you remember, we talked at lunch and I was sitting at the end of the table. We talked about your multiple acceptances and how good the first one felt.

Yeah I am kinda bummed out about Chicago because I liked the school so much. I will send them an update email and hope for the best!

Interview invite!

Application complete 10/5

I've been following this thread forever! GL everyone!

why is continued status so dreaded? i never really considered it to be a bad thing.. is it hard to get accepted from here or something?

So I keep watching these Pritzker admissions presentation videos and... 😍
This school seems absolutely incredible. I cannot wait to see it in person.

impressive.

so whats the deal with continued status? kiss of death?

I don't know if it is hard to get in after this point or not, but it's just that this is not a straight acceptance. I really loved the school and it would have great to get in and not to have to worry about being in a limbo for the next x number of months. I will send them updates and then wait wait wait every 2 weeks hoping for some good news.

Hey guys, just trying to figure out the whole transportation thing. Is it better to fly into O'Hare or Midway? Not sure which one is closer to the school. Where did everyone stay during the interview? Hotels? Student hosting?

---Thanks!!

Midway is wayy closer to the school than O'Hare. Southwest flies into Midwest only and doesn't do O'Hare. I believe there are multiple buses (Chicago public transit and private shuttles) that operate between the school and Midway.
As for housing, I am obviously not the best person to comment on this since I stayed with some relatives when I interviewed.

Midway it is. Thanks

That's pretty awesome. Thanks for the tip!

No problem. But a caveat: if you're a woman or afraid of "the people," I wouldn't recommend the bus, ESPECIALLY at night. It goes through some of the worst neighborhoods of Chicago. I don't consider myself a brat by any means and I was a little uncomfortable, but I was also riding it after dark.

A cab from Midway costs about $20-$25, so it's not too bad. Pritzker is AWESOME, good luck!

Also, ask them to go straight down 55th (?) street rather than go on the highway (it's a lot longer).

For those that are interested, I ran into a guy today at an interview that was accepted on Friday, interviewed 10/4, received a full tuition scholarship.

wow!

how much is a full tuition scholarship at pritzker? does anyone know the amounts the school tends to give out?

Well they say that they give out $10 million in grants, so 10M/88 = $113,636

That's just the average but it sounds like the awards are not distributed evenly.

Thanks🙂 I need to buy some serious winter gear, b/c December in Chicago is nothing like it is here in FL!

I am sorry if this has been covered before, but does anyone know the chances of getting off the continued status list and the rough timeline associated with it?

Thanks!

I loved my interview day at Pritzker!!! Everything went smoothly and was very low-stress. Good luck everyone! :luck:

Rejected 3.6/33

I checked my status online today for the first time since I was complete back in July, haha. This school was a huge reach for me, so no big deal.

For those that are curious, I e-mailed the office this morning inquiring about my status (I interviewed 9/28 or 9/29 and still haven't received any sort of decision), and I was told that the Committee was "still reviewing my file." I think this is distinct from "continued," as I specifically asked whether I had been "continued" or not.

Best of luck.

Yeah, apparently it can take them a while. I interviewed on August 30, and just received a "continued status" letter in the mail yesterday which was dated (and postmarked) Nov. 5. Which was lame, because I would really love to go here 🙂

For people who are worrying about the "dreaded continued list", don't. Really. I was kept on the continued list for months but I still got in, and I know this is true for many other students here. I know people who were on the continued list, made it onto the wait list, and currently my classmates. It is not a death sentence by any means.

Do try to keep in touch with admissions. Update them with transcripts, send them a letter of continued interest and let them know about anything that may have changed. You don't need to badger them, but sending at least a thoughtful letter can be a good idea. It also doesn't have to be immediately, in fact it's often better to wait until you have something positive you want to update (eg. I waited until the end of the next semester/quarter to send them my updated transcript, which had a positive impact on my GPA).

Anyone who got put on hold for later review get an interview or at least send an update letter?

Hold off on a letter for a little bit longer. They don't make these decisions on "hold candidates" until late December/early January at the very earliest.

I was put on hold last year, and got my rejection in late January. About 10-15% of hold applicants will get an interview invite. So chances are still slim. Update letters will be a must, but they're better sent closer to the actual time.

i have a question.
i've been complete since 8/30, almost 10 weeks ago. I emailed them around the 7week mark and called. All they said was that I was complete and under review. My status on the site says I'm complete and under review (the accomplishments bit).

Should I ask again? I feel like I'm on hold, but nothing is showing that I'm put on hold. Has anybody been complete for 10 weeks and not heard a wink from them?

I'm not quite at 10 weeks -- I submitted my seoondary/payment in late September so I'm at about the 6-7 week mark. I haven't contacted them yet, but I may soon. Maybe we have the same faculty member with our files?

Got an interview invite today (I guess they were hard at work on a saturday). For those who are still waiting, there was one date available in Nov, 1 in Dec and 2 in January. So it seems like they've almost given out all interview spots. I don't know if I should be excited cos I feel like this is essentially an interview for a spot on the waitlist but we shall see. On to Chicago and good luck to all those still waiting 🙂
