Got an interview invite today (I guess they were hard at work on a saturday). For those who are still waiting, there was one date available in Nov, 1 in Dec and 2 in January. So it seems like they've almost given out all interview spots. I don't know if I should be excited cos I feel like this is essentially an interview for a spot on the waitlist but we shall see. On to Chicago and good luck to all those still waiting 🙂
according to the podcasts there is no interviewing for the waitlist at chicago. good luck:xf:

I don't think this is correct. They interview through February so I wouldn't worry yet if you haven't heard back.

Yeah, I fit in that category--intervewed 9 weeks ago today and haven't heard anything at all.

How strict is the word limit? Anyone know?

You could try to lock (not submit) the essays in with a little bit over the word limit. If the computer accepts that then you probably can go a bit over--I would try to keep within the limits as much as possible.

How long does it take to get from campus back to the airport? My flight leaves at 7pm... I don't know if I should be nervous about that haha. Also, are cabs the best way to get between the airport and campus?

Depends on which airport. From Midway it would probably take maybe 15-20 minutes by cab with minimal traffic. O'Hare is farther, but I'm not sure how long it would take.

I took a bus from the airport to the campus. I wouldn't recommend it late at night, but if you're flying during the day you can get to the campus for less than $3.

I was accepted today!!! interviewed 10/25 so excited!!!! Congrats to everyone else who has recieved and acceptance and good luck to everyone who has recieved an interview

Rejected today...this was one of my top two choices (along with Mayo, where I was rejected on Wednesday). It's been a rough couple of days! Good luck to all of you here. Chicago sounds like an amazing school.

Did anyone interview a while ago (past the six week mark) and have still not received a decision (hold or otherwise)? Or am I the only one stuck in post-interview limbo?

Hey ColeOnTheRoll - you're not alone!

I'm in the same limbo in terms of hearing back following the interview (I interviewed just a couple of days before you). I really want to hear back concerning any status updates (nothing yet reflected on the website) - I really enjoyed my time at Pritzker during my interview day! I called today and left a message, so no verbal updates yet!

Ok, that makes me feel a little better. It's a little irritating though - we're going on eight weeks now. 😱

Accepted 11/19! Interviewed 10/18.

I'm sure you'll do fine! I remember hearing that the admissions office is really receptive to updates, so maybe you can help jog their memory that way. 🙂

Btw, I think we interviewed at Baylor on the same day! I have no idea who you are though! It's somewhat disappointing to have been in the same room as the infamous ColeOnTheRoll and to not have known it. 😛

Well I assure you I'm not that interesting; you didn't miss out on much. 😳

I would send a letter, but I'm not into grubbing for attention nor do I have any updates. We'll see, just keep on waiting I guess.

Pritzker graduate, now finished with peds and anesthesia residencies and starting as faculty in June-- regarding the updates to the admissions office-- if Pritzker is at the top of your list by all means send ONE letter that states that, but much better to have some sort of update to give them. for example, the december before I was excepted (didn't apply till november, accepted in january), I was the subject of a front page article (small town paper) detailing how I was running a marathon for the leukemia society (also when running marathons was a huge deal, now everyone does it)-- sent the article in with the letter-- accepted within a week. don't know if it's a coincidence, but once I was accepted I found out these updates do make a difference if they are something that differentiates you. Going to pritzker was a life changer. wouldn't change a thing about my route to where i am now. good luck to you all.

Can anyone describe their interview day more in detail- such as how the interview format is: conversation or more a set of questions? open file, closed file? I have been clicking back through the thread to find someone's discussion but have not found one. Forgive me if I missed it.

My interview is this week!

My interview is this week!

My interviews were laid back and conversational, and I know it was at least open-file in terms of activities and personal statement because I was asked pretty specific questions from there. It certainly wasn't a grilling my any means. My faculty interviewers were both really nice and more focused on answering questions about Pritzker and getting to know me as a person than, say, grilling me on Obamacare. The student interview was pretty chill too, though it's been a few months and I can't remember if he had already seen my PS and activities. On the whole, after talking to other interviewees on my day I got the impression that everyone had pleasant interviews. I'm sure there are exceptions but it definitely didn't feel like they were trying to stress us or trip us up.

It's a really great day and they're very nice at Pritzker. I wouldn't worry! :luck:

I think the student and faculty interviewers had access to your PS and work/activities, while the adcom interviewer had your whole file (I remember because the adcom interviewer asked me specifically about a class I had taken last year and what I had learned from it...)

I was on pre-interview hold for a really long time and finally got the rejected email on Friday. Pritzker seems to move fast...already taking people out of their on-hold limbo before Thanksgiving.

I'm a little bummed but oh well. It seems life the fit factor is so important at this school that a rejection means you most likely wouldn't have been happy there. If I move to Chicago it'll be to go to Northwestern.

I'm with bleargh.

Also, a lot of schools do this. If this is a factor in your decision you're going to have some narrow choices.

Hey guys, for those of you who have heard something (accepted, continued, interview complete), was there a status update in your Pritzker login in addition to having received a phone call, letter, etc?

Nope, it's been a month since my acceptance and my status still says "Interview Complete"

Hey guys,

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I hope that everyone has been eating lots of delicious food and catching up on some much needed rest.

For those who were accepted into Pritzker, what did you guys fill out on your Acceptance response form: 1. accept or 2. undecided

I like Pritzker, but I think it may also depend on how much money (if any) that they are able to provide. Although it says that neither decision has any impact on financial aid decisions, I wanted to see what you guys put down.

Thanks in advance,
koolkat 🙂

Hey people. I'm interviewing here on Tuesday and was curious if anyone has any last minute advice for me? Also, I'm going to Midway and want to know how far the school is from here and if theres a bus or cab

The school isn't far from Midway. It's about an hour bus ride (highly recommend it if you're coming during the day); I'm guessing by cab it would be maybe 30 or 45 minutes with little traffic.

No tips other than enjoy the pizza at lunch and have fun!

Dress warmly with a coat/jacket for the tour, come with plenty of questions, enjoy.

They are all low-stress, conversational interviews to see if you can interact well with others through your responses, non-verbal cues, and eye-contact. If you're interviewing for MD/PhD I believe you'll have 4 interviews instead of 3. Good luck.

I'm really glad I interviewed here. Btw anyone know how long we have to wait for a decision post interview?

They say 4-6 weeks (I think), but I'm entering week 9 with no decision...

It seems to be somewhat random, though I'm sure it's not. There are people that have interviewed after me and got their decision extremely quickly (within a couple of weeks), and there are also a couple of people on here that are in the same position I'm in. Who knows.

Is the bus you seak of a transit bus or the shuttle from Midway which I read you have to schedule on their website? Also, I remember you mentioned that the bus goes through some less than desirable areas of chicago. would you recommend taking it after my flight arrives at 6:40 p.m?

I'm going for the MD but 3 interviews?😱 Wow the most I've had anywhere else is two. Oh well should be fun still. 😀

It really isn't that bad. I rode the bus at 9:00pm, and while I was mildly frightened, I wasn't harassed or bothered. Personally I hate paying ridiculous cab fares, so it's worth it to me to pay $3 for a sketchy bus ride versus $40 for a cab ride. It's really up to you. If you've used mass transit before, I think you'll be fine.

Second this, I really doubt you'll have a problem. I took buses after midnight through Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and never had a problem.

Cool thanks guys. I remember when I took the bus from Pitt airport to the medical school, I was walking around trying to find my student host, not knowing that we were walking in completely opposite directiosn from each other. There was a guy who was standing by a tricycle with a bible open and he was screaming verses into the 45 oF air while wearing booty shorts and a very tight tube top 🤣. I simply lol'd and kept walking cos i was freezing

I laughed at your handle, and then realized it was at my own expense...

Interview invite yesterday after pre-interview hold!

Hey everyone,

I'm in the same situation as Cole - I interviewed on September 23rd, and still have yet to hear back (hopefully in the positive!). I want to comment on one thing in particular that really stuck out to me about UChicago (in addition to the just about everything about the school and the cool city life) - apparently, as a med student you can take a class in any department, any school (from business to law to...anything!) - which really means a lot to me as a business-interdisciplinary major. Can any current students (or anyone who knows a bit more!) comment on this and if this scenario actually fits well within med students' course schedules? I feel as if only afternoon/evening classes would be good fits.

This. Anyone who is going here, DRESS WARMLY. I think my blood froze in 2 minutes while waiting for the bus. Other than that, this school is awesome. Everyone is extremely nice and I would be honored to be accepted here. And 10 mil in aid for class of 2015? That is Boss. The current wait time now is 8-10 weeks so you should be hearing pretty soon Cole. And the class is also half-filled so...yea. 44 spots left if you ignore acceptances over the 88 limit. Here's to my 8-10 week wait:xf:

LOL I thought my flight back would crash due to the ridiculous turbulence that tossed us like rags and all I thought was "God, please let me live so I can get my Pritzker acceptance letter:laugh:" Shows how much I love this school now.

Are there any third/fourth years willing to talk a little about the clinical years?

Specifically, I'm wondering what your role is on the wards, and is there a clear role? Do you get your "hands dirty" alot, or is it alot of shadowing? Do you see a lot of horses (I'd imagine so given the patient population in Hyde Park) and a fair share of zebras? Generally speaking, do you feel like you were/are well-prepared for residency? Anything else I should know about clinicals/the hospital?

Thanks! Nothing like procrastinating finals...

Any folks going to be around on Tuesday?

For those who were placed on the continued list, did you guys receive this news by snail mail? And was it sent to your preferred or permanent address?

I'm at week 7 now with no news whatsoever.. although I know some people have been waiting even longer than me. Just curious. :/

Any folks going to be around on Tuesday?

Good luck tomorrow Case buddy! You'll be great. :luck:
