I called this morning to hopefully get some info on my status since I'm going on week 10 post-interview. I wasn't given any particularly useful information about my situation, but was told that the committee will be meeting tomorrow and next week and figured you guys might want to know.

Also, cyanide I believe people were notified of continued status via snail mail. Not completely sure though.

Good luck tomorrow Case buddy! You'll be great. :luck:

Haha, thanks cleveland-buddy!

Just interviewed this week. I went into the day with very high expectations but the school surpassed them all. Just a great day overall with most likely the best lunch I've had on the interview trail. UC is definitely the only school that gave me a photograph to remember the school

Now for 10 weeks 😱 of waiting. Seems a bit long, eh? It's going to be a long two and a half months...

Hahaha, yeah it is. Those pizzas were so good.

Did they tell you it would be about 10 weeks before you got a decision?

I'm at week 7 now with no news whatsoever.. although I know some people have been waiting even longer than me. Just curious. :/

I spoke too soon. Accepted today via phone call. 🙂 I think it's interesting that the admissions committee here tries not to talk about how much merit scholarship money they give out... it would certainly draw more applicants, but I guess they don't want people applying just for the sake of money.

Anyway, chin up to those who thought their interviews went poorly. I thought I bombed mine here. 😛

Nice, glad to see you got out of limbo. 🙂 Still waiting unfortunately... at this point I just want some kind of decision.

P.S. how much scholarship did you get? Feel free to PM me if you want. I'm just curious.

Yep, we were told to expect 10 weeks before a decision is made. They hinted that it may be sooner but somewhere around 8-10.

and congrats cyanide! 😀

Hey everyone,

I just signed in online to check my post-interview status at Pritzker, and I found out I had not been accepted (post interview). It's a fantastic school, and I wish the best of luck to those interviewed/interviewing!

BTW I interviewed at the end of September.

Do you guys know when/if Chicago gives people merit notifications? I know that some people get it in their package, but in general, when do they usually offer?

Thanks,
Koolkat

Most people seem to be getting scholarship offers when they're accepted.

Just opened my mail to find a Pritzker scrub top. 🙂

Yes, I think this is correct. It's an unusual (but great) way that Pritzker does it.

I gotta check my mail...I hope I got the scrub top also!

Hey has anyone on the continued status been accepted yet? Additionally, have any of you continued status folk sent updates? Thanks!

I predict that there will be news tomorrow:xf:

Just called the admissions offce--decisions were mailed out today. Unfortunately for me, I was placed on "continued status." And, yes ColeonTheRoll, I am a wizard!

This is weird. I got the snail mail continued candidate letter like a month ago, and I just got an email from one Juana Villalpando containing the exact same letter as a PDF. Rubbing it in much, Pritzker? 😉

Has anyone with an acceptance had their status page change yet?

Got the "continued app" letter in the mail today. I'm fine with this (anything's better than a rejection!), and I'll definitely be sending a letter to Pritzker over the break. I interviewed in early November, for those who are curious.

Is anyone here considering Northwestern vs Pritzker post interview? Without the merit aid issue coming to play (Northwestern gives little to none), can u share your impression ?. Thanks!

Dear Pritzker,

Our meeting was love at first sight. But it's been 3 months, two weeks, and two days, and I haven't heard anything from you. Please don't break my heart, Chicago!

Yours,
Panda

Once again, did anyone do Northwestern here ? I am debating about the need for my Pritzker interview. Unfortunately, I was unable to schedule both together, and I loved Northwestern and its location. I am debating another trip to Chicago. Putting money aside, why did u fall in love with the place? How does it compare ? Thanks!!!

Hey BrainBuff--
I interviewed at both Pritzker and Feinberg and liked each of them. To be honest, like you I absolutely loved Northwestern and it really felt like a great fit for me. I felt that its location was really unmatched by any other medical school I had visited (around the country, not just in Chicago) and the people I met on my interview day really seemed like people I would love to attend medical school with.

I did also really enjoy Pritzker, however. The people were also incredibly welcoming and the school has an amazing MD program (notably, an 88-person class and a large amount of merit-based financial aid). The location is certainly not as ideal as Northwestern (my opinion, anyway), but there are many factors that go in to choosing the right school.

If I am fortunate enough to get accepted to both medical schools, I would definitely plan on re-visiting them in the Spring. My advice to you would be to visit Pritzker and decide for yourself. It is a great place and if nothing else, you can get yourself some authentic deep dish pizza!

Hey, thanks HankMED. I really appreciate your input. Because Pritzker is so obsessed with the so called "fit", I have always thought that either you like one school or the other. Let's see how it goes. Thanks again!

Definitely go for the pizza they give you for lunch. It's DELICIOUS.

Finally got a decision this morning after 12 weeks of waiting.

...ACCEPTED! Woohoo! Got a scholarship offer along with the phone call as well (to verify the above).

Congrats Cole!!!! Your patience has paid off! 🙂

Something that brings me back to life! I actually found out by snail mail that I had been continued (as opposed to a previous response noting my online status with a rejection) - I'm excited to have the chance to continue to be considered at this school!

Congrats, Cole!

Wooooooo!!! Future classmates, maybe?

I knew it would turn out well for you. 🙂

Congrats!! What a great early xmas present. 😀

You'll probably be getting the scrub top in the mail soon -- mine got delivered home last week and my mom sounded really confused on the phone. "They sent you one of those.. you know, things doctors wear.. except they're not giving you the pants until later..."

COngrat Cole. You are quite deserving of that acceptance. Do you think you willl be matriculating there due to the scholarship? 45k is a pretty good incentive.

Hey, I interviewed at Pritzker in late October, anyone who interviewed around then hear back yet? Its driving me crazy having to wait so long, Pritzker is definitely my top choice :-(

hey, for those of you who were accepted, did anyone ever figure out if the "Accept" option is binding? or are you just putting "undecided" if you're not 100% sure yet?

I interviewed 9/28 and didn't get a decision until Monday. This is despite many people interviewing later than me and receiving decisions almost instantly it seems. Don't worry about it - there's probably some behind-the-scenes hooplah that's holding the decision up.

I'm very excited to be interviewing here in the near future. Out of many interviews, this is the first one in a city I've never been to and am completely unfamiliar with. I have the better part of the day before my interview to explore the city/undergrad campus/whatever a little ... any suggestions?

Got my scrub top in the mail today! Does anyone know if they send everyone mediums? Or are there smalls? I can fold mine in half and it'd still be too big!

Haha I was thinking this. Hopefully there will be an option for me to get one that isn't a bajillion times too big. They should totally ask us to put our size on the forms we have to send in.

Anyway, unless a miracle happens elsewhere I'll probably be around in the fall to get a new one. 🙂

I also interviewed & got in to both schools. Feinberg provides students with more free time, more resources for research, and a dramatically better location. They also probably have better surgical training and are more in-tune with modern healthcare technology. A friend of mine at Feinberg mentioned that UChicago still doesn't have a fully electronic medical record system. Its 2011. Feinberg has had one since the 90's.

Pritzker, however, seems like a family. The administration seemed incredibly warm and inviting. Students also seemed really happy. UChicago might also match a bit better and they may have a better reputation in academics if that's an interest of yours. The small class size, also, is a huge plus as it will come into play when want meaningful clinical experiences and responsibilities in the clinical years. I've heard that Northwestern Memorial is crowded with interns, residents, and fellows -- and the students tend to miss out on more responsibility during medical school.

Does anyone know if Pritzker has rejected anyone post-interview yet or has everyone just been placed on the "continued" list at this point?
