So I went into Application in process today just now from applicant in process that I was yesterday.

So we shall see what that means. I think it means they are done reviewing my app. I am wondering if it is still worth it to send an update to them at thisp oint or if they're mailing something to me soon. All my friends got their rejection like 3 months from being complete. its been 3 months now. So yeah. Not sure that's a good sign.

hmm thats interesting mine changed as well today from applicant in process to application is in process is that different from application in process?? haha what the heck is the diff should something be coming soon?? are interview invites by snail mail??:xf:

When my status went from applicant in process to application is in process after the committee meeting (3rd thurs of month), I was rejected a few days later. Keep checking the status.

Anyone else get a CBC email recently? I got one today (apparently they sent one 5 days ago, but I didn't receive it....but I got the one today).

ok, what does CBC mean? Criminal Background Check?

I have it on good word that the admissions comm meeting was pushed to next week. Don't call about it.

Yeah I got it a few days ago. Followed the directions, filled it out, submitted. Just got an email yesterday saying it was complete. Very pain-free, which is a nice change as far as the app process is concerned

Hey everyone. I'm an OOS and my first interview invite was from University of Illinois. I'm excited because I was born in Chicago and would love to move back to Illinois.

I got my interview invite in the mail and it instructed me to call. Does anybody know if I'll be required to pick a date over the phone or will an online calender format be made available?

Thanks and good luck everyone.

When you call the Admissions office, they'll basically ask you what date you want to schedule your interview for, and whether you want it in the AM or PM. The interview grid you see on the status page will tell you which sites are available on which days ... though it's not a dynamic thing, so it's possible some of the slots may be full by the time you call. Also, if there's been recent cancellations, they may be able to get you an earlier date. I would have a date in mind and give them a call asap!

Good luck!

Hmm I don't have a status page anymore. It says "The supplemental application deadline of Saturday, January 15, 2011 has passed. The Application is unavailable. Please contact admissions at (312) 413-5550" and no other status page has been made available.

Really? Are you looking at the Supplemental Application site, or the Application Status site?

https://s443-messieruic-comd-uic-edu.proxauto.comd.uic.edu/appstat/

I am still able to login and see my confirmed interview date on there. I would try and use that site. If you're still on able to log on, I'm sure the admissions office will give you available dates/sites when you call.

I was using the supplemental application status page. My in-state school has them wrapped together so I made a false assumption.

Thanks for your help!

Hey everyone - best of luck to you all.

So I'm excited to be interviewing with UI on Feb 16 at the Peoria campus. I am OOS (chose Peoria as it has an airport and an interview date >1 month earlier than Chicago) and was hoping someone could offer some perspective on the city/area. Anyone have any suggestions for hotels (other than the ones listed on the website) or, say how hard it is to find a taxi in the area?

Peoria area native here. :hello: Let me see if I can help. From the airport you can either call a taxi or rent a car. Peoria is a driving city much more than public transit. I am not sure what would be cheaper, though. For hotels, there are two that are close to the school which is downtown (Pere Marquette, which is downtown and historical, or Embassy Suites, which is in East Peoria on the river and is brand new), but I am sure they would be more expensive than the other hotels which are out by either of the malls. There are many inexpensive hotels/motels off War Memorial Drive, and you'll want to either call a cab or drive ~10-15 minutes to get to the school. I say call a cab because they are not usually available to catch, but there are many companies which you can call and they will come pick you up. Let me know if you have anymore questions. 🙂

this could have been covered already and for that i apologize. i have an interview scheduled on 2/17 at Rockford and i was looking for airports nearby but couldn't find any that takes flights from my area. which airport do most interviewees tend to use when going to rockford? i hope it's not o'hare.. it's such a long drive from chicaco

For Rockford...

I took a plane to O'hare used the van guilder (sp?) bus to rockford (20ish each way about 1.5hrs)

i live in chicago and have family in rockford, so i commute back and forth every now and then.

fly into ohare and take a van galder bus (http://www.coachusa.com/vangalder/) from ohare to rockford. when you get off the plane just follow the signs to the bus terminal or ask an employee to point you in the right direction. the bus stops at a bus terminal and two hotels in rockford (the clock tower resort and the holiday inn). the bus to rockford leaves every hour, the fare is about $20, and the ride takes about an hour and fifteen minutes, depending on traffic. i wouldnt even try to fly into rockford... trust me this is much easier. you could even stay at one of the hotels that the bus drops off/picks up from to make your trip super easy. taxis are almost non-existent in rockford, so you have to call one about a half-hour ahead.

i know that taking the bus sounds like a pain, but its really easy... everyone in rockford flies out of ohare and most people drive or take the bus. let me know if you have more questions... i know more about rockford than id like to admit.

There is a airport in the city of Rockford - Rockford international airport - airport code = RFD. It is about 20min from the airport to the UIC at Rockford campus and most people prefer this to the craziness of O'hare.

this is true if you are flying to/from cancun, orlando, tampa, ft. myers, palm beach, phoenix or vegas. i believe these are the only destinations that are serviced by this airport. even so, no one i know from rockford has ever used this airport. have you used it??

Yes I have used RFD for domestic flights - depending on the destination it may require more transfers. Another closer airport is Midway (MDW) that many people I know say is far less stressful than O'Hare for domestic flights.

Thanks for clearing things up guys. So, currently i'm searching through expedia to see any flights going to RFD and there is absolutely nothing. i've been using expedia for all my interview trips and it has never failed me thus far, yet maybe it's just dfificult to find one that flies to RFD. do u guys know of any other websites that could possibly find a plane to RFD or should i just settle on o'hare, which i don't mind too much since I can explore chicago a little bit.

midway is farther from rockford than ohare is. midway is on the south west side of chicago, while ohare is on the north west side. rockford is north west of chicago. ohare is not stressful. its just a big airport. however, the same bus line i mentioned before has a bus that goes from midway to rockford too. its more expensive and it takes longer than the bus from ohare. dude whats your beef with ohare? for someone who isnt from the area its definitely the best way to go. i lived in rockford for 4 years and have lived in chicago for 7 years. trust me, if there was an easier way to get to rockford i would have figured it out by now.

fyi. if you stay downtown, watch yourself at night. we have mad crime. just saying this cuz I live in downtown and I've had everything short of physical violence happen to me this past semester. My apartment was burglarized, my neighbor's car was broken into, and my other neighbor's car window was kicked in. I was pulling out of my parking lot yesterday and I motioned to a pedestrian to go ahead and cross and and he was so cracked out that he started screaming at me so I just peeled out and gtfo.

Other than that, this is a wonderful city with really great people (living in East Peoria, Peoria Heights, and Chillicothe, etc). Just wish they would stop cutting the police budget cuz downtown is madness.

I got an interview invite in the mail yesterday. I would absolutely love to come up to Chicago to check out the school, but from what I have found skimming through here, the spots for the Chicago campus will pretty much be filling up soon? It looks like there are interview slots open 2/23 in Chicago, and 3/23 in Peoria. I'm assuming 2/23 would be too late for me to snag a spot to go to the Chicago campus? The tuition is a bit of a sticker shock too for an OOSer. At this point it looks like I'll be declining the interview.

I'm scheduled 3/23 in Peoria. I wanted to interview in Chicago but February doesn't work out.

Anybody know if they give opportunity to see any of the facilities at the Chicago campus even though I'm interviewing in Peoria? Say I were willing to spent a little extra time in the area?

Anybody else have the same interview date or has already interviewed and is willing to share their experience?

I have it on good word that the admissions comm meeting was pushed to next week. Don't call about it.

So is the admissions committee meeting tomorrow? I interviewed in December and I received an email the day following the December ADCOM meeting stating that my application was reviewed but no final decision was made. I haven't received any such email in January

The general consensus is that the meeting should be happening tomorrow. There seemed to be no decisions made last Thursday.

I have no idea what decisions are being made or what emails are being sent out or if/when anything will be updated. All I know for sure is that there was no admissions committee meeting last week and there will be an admissions committee meeting tomorrow. I repeat, there was no mtg last week but as sure as the sun will rise, there is one tomorrow (thur, jan 27)

OMG TODAY IS THE DAY!!! What time did most people get a status change?

Good luck to everyone waiting for news today!:luck:

I just checked mine ... and I have the "additional correspondence" tab next to my interview information.

So I think I'm accepted? ...

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😍

CONGRATS!!!

Does everyones status change at once? or do they changed statuses thru-out the day?

additional correspondance tab + final decision msg..is that a yes?

According to the flow chart in this thread... it means we're in.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! WOO!!! Congratulations!!!

I interviewed on 1/14, IS if anyone wants to know.

Mine just changed... I hit refresh and suddenly it changed.... 😱

Interviewed 1-20 OOS

Thank god its still happening - I'm sitting here waiting and hoping. Are they going alphabetically you think?

Mine hasn't changed yet. I'm still decision pending...I wonder if they do them in batches? I guess I'll wait until the end of the day.

Anyone know if they do rejections or waitlists at this time?

It seems like they do them in batches or something but not all at once since when I checked and others had decisions but it took a little more time for mine to change.

For those whose statuses have changed- where did u guys interview at? status updates can be diff due to the diff campuses? is there one big overall uic committee or does each campus have its own?

Overall meeting with regional campuses teleconferencing.

Is there a tab that says decision made, or is it just a line below the yellow "additional correspondence" line that says that a final decision was made? Also, how do you all know that this means you're accepted? What would be on there if you were rejected?

I interviewed December 17th and my status still says decision pending. Is this bad news?

They do them at different times, so definitely give til the end of the day. I saw people posting that they had a status change for a couple hours until mine did at around five.

And I was wondering if anyone knew when the second look day is?

When you log into the application status page there is a button on the bottom where it says next, click on it and it will either say "Decision Pending" or" A decision has been made "and above it in the yellowish table with interview scheduling at the top there would be a new thing on the right-most area that says additional correspondence

I have that...but how do we know for sure that that wouldn't happen if you got rejected?

You don't? Its based on what has happened in the past which is that is what people that have been accepted had on their status page. I for one am not informing anyone I know that I have been accepted until I get a the letter in my hands (due in part to my really bad stats), that being said in last years thread and again in this year's thread it seems like a good sign to say the least...

BTW: Is there a post/ thread that discusses the pluses/minuses of each campus?

Yeah...I'm going to follow suit and not count my chickens before they hatch. I haven't heard of anyone *not* getting the "additional correspondence" tab. Also, what do you mean by "really bad stats"? Do you think that makes you more likely to get a rejection this early in the process? I thought they didn't start rejecting until May?
