Hey guys, I withdrew my acceptance today. I would have loved to attend UIC but the out-of-state tuition ($70K) just was not appealing. Good luck to those still waiting to hear back!

Hello everyone, I was wondering if there are any current students on here that have participated in the summer pre-matriculation program? If so, can anyone give any information on the program? (i.e. what classes are like, schedule, anything🙂) Thanks

Hey do they have the same secondary for 2012? If so, please post or message me questions🙂

Thanks!

So does that mean they'll accept/reject and create a waitlist june 1? It seems pretty late but at least they gave a date. Maybe they've already weeded out most of the rejections and all of us decision pending people have a good chance? Maybe there's only like 30 of us and we all get in!!! :xf:

:xf::xf: wishful thinking!...
but barely any1 has gotten rejected yet, i had only seen one maybe two post regarding rejections.. sorry to be negative 🙁

I'm still just shocked that they're still going to accept people.

I don't understand why they would run the risk of losing people they'd accept by letting them know after May 15th...

I used to think "Decision Pending" meant there was still hope. But, I was talking to someone who works closely with the medical school and she said the admissions committee predicts less movement this year because they accepted more students earlier in the year and the number of applicants increased significantly. Gah! This is horrible!😡

ugh! That is awful. Waiting until after May 15th is definitely a way to lose people I think. I am most likely going to proceed with my other state school at this point. Emotional roller coaster for sure...

yeaa i also heard they over-accepted 🙁
the year before last they did the same thing and there was no movement on the waitlist 👎

Yea, I don't expect the waitlist to move at all this year. I interviewed in March, and they already mentioned that they had admitted 150 students more than what is needed to fill the class (which was filled by Janurary, apparently),

Really? That's the first time i've heard about the WL not moving last year. I've read a couple posts saying how UIC's WL tends to move quite a bit since it's a state school. How confusing. In any case, is it true that if we haven't been given a decision yet, we're most likely waitlisted?

not last year but the year before so the 2009 cycle... last year there was a lot of movement because they did not accept more than all 4 campuses can hold..

but im still praying.. UICOM is my last chance for this cycle

Oh, my bad. Totally didn't realize you had written "year before last". Crazy how things can deviate from year to year. I wish you the best of luck.

So since the deadline for students to have only one acceptance remaining is May 15th I assumed that UI (like other schools) would have made their decisions by now. I called and they said if I'm still "Decision Pending" that means they'll still consider my application for the May Adcom meeting.

Is it really possible that they haven't filled all the spots by now? Does UI not have a waitlist?

Going back to this post. Why would they even have a May AdCom meeting if the spots are indeed already filled?

I guess we'll find out soon. If they do have an adcom meeting this month, isn't it supposed to be tomorrow? (following the 2nd to last thursday trend).

Here's hoping there is a meeting tomorrow. Good luck everyone!

I'm fairly positive we are going to have to wait until June. :poke:

Maybe they just want to wait until after the Rapture? I mean no reason to make decisions if applicants are going to up and disappear on you...

For those already accepted into a specific campus, what have you done since then? All I did was mail my transcript and immunization form (chest x-ray result & varicella/hepatitis B titer). Do you know if there will be any more registration fee? I have only paid a $100 deposit.... Your answers will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Ugh....I've been waiting since I interviewed in October. Anyone else that far out?

You should post in the allopathic class threads of accepted students. You'll get more answers that way.
Your best bet is to call the admissions office.

anyone hear back yet? I remember Dr. Girotti mentioning that we would hear something by mid May at the latest...

for all you decision pending people (like me), i just called the admissions office, and they still have one adcom meeting to go, and we should hear back by "early june." i tried to get a date but she just said early june again. fyi, when i called she asked for my amcas number to make sure there were no decisions made on my application, and she did inform me that i was still under consideration. so if you're really curious you might call and see if they will do the same for you.

Thanks for the info. I still think it's ridiculous that we have to wait that long. I am going to need to sign a lease soon at my accepted school...

Thanks for sharing. It's so ridiculous and I think quite inconsiderate that they're doing this. Aren't schools supposed to give final decisions to applicants before May 15th? Even if it's WL? I feel like this is the only school that still has people decision pending!

Same boat here...alot of time/$ lost whether UIC lets me in or not...haha

Hey guys, I think they have final decisions up on the status page now. When I logged in instead of seeing the usual "Decision Pending" it now says "Applicant is Wait Listed" 👎.

"Applicant is Wait Listed" here as well. Kind of proud that with my stats I even got an interview and not even a rejection. Not sure if I am going to hold out for an eventual acceptance. I kind of already have the decision made for SIU...but...I don't know. Most people seem to think that the clinical experience is much better in Peoria (I would choose that campus) than in Springfield or even Chicago (as a student). However, SIU is $56,000 cheaper over 4 years and I am drawn to their PBL curriculum. UIC Urbana's first year intimidates me because I was not a biology major or hardcore studier in college and I might fare better with the active learning. Then again, the 3rd and 4th years are more important. I am going down to look at apartments in Carbondale this weekend but I think I will hold off on signing a lease. 😕

Applicant is Wait Listed too... Already got accepted at my in-state though so 😛 too OOS tuition anyway.

Do I have to wait for them to mail me something to withdraw? Out of curiosity do they provide a waitlist ranking?

My status turned to final decision made .. allow 2 weeks to get correspondence mail.

According to 'the chart', final decision made after May = rejection.:scared::scared:🙁

I wish the best for everyone who are waitlisted... :luck:

I'm sorry. 🙁 I hope you have other options!

I hope we get a letter telling us the approx. location on the waitlist like they did last year. As much as I would love to make a firm decision and get things rolling with my other school, I am honestly torn. If I can find out that I'm in a low point on the waitlist I can at least have the decision made for me.

I got the "applicant is waitlisted" too today. Hmm.
Do we have ANY info on the waitlist? How big is it? It seems like they did rejections today too...

Wait listed as well...I wonder if there will be any movement on the waitlist. I've already prepared my app for the next cycle already.

Waitlisted here as well. Hopefully they'll tell us the position on the waitlist and there may be some movement. Only other waitlist I'm on has pretty much a promised there won't be any movement ("the class is full at this time")

Sigh. I guess it's time to refill out the AMCAS.

Does anyone have any idea about wait list movement? The letter informs you where you are on the list based on quartile. It also says the 1st and 2nd quartiles have more reasonable chances of getting in but I was wondering if anyone had anything more concrete. Good luck everyone!

There's a letter? If so, I guess I haven't gotten it yet; I also found my status to be wait listed when I checked on Friday.
Sigh..the saga of waiting continues

I just got the WL letter in the mail today too. Last year I heard they took a fair amount of people from the WL but I've heard they over accepted this year so not sure how it will pan out.

All we can do is hope I suppose. Best of luck to everyone.

i got placed in the 1st quartile... how many quartiles are there? and does anyone know approx how many ppl are placed into each?

Haha, quartile means that they split the group into 4 parts. No idea how many people.

Also placed into the first quartile here.
