This is probably a very dumb question!

But where do we check our status? I interviewed a couple weeks ago and would like to know!

Thanks all!

for anyone who is curious, i have been complete since the last week in july, and i have never been "applicant in progress". i just called them today to see if they received an additional letter of recommendation that was sent in for me, and while i had her on the phone i asked if my file had already been reviewed. she said that my file was either currently under review or ready to be reviewed (she couldnt say which). she said that counselors are available on thursdays to answer questions that i have about my status, but right now there really isnt anything to talk about because it is very possible that my file hasnt been reviewed yet. i interpreted it to mean that i had not been "passed over" and i shouldnt worry.

they dont seem to be doing things in perfectly chronological order, so i think we have a while before we start to get antsy. im IS and my stats are average for admitted applicants at this school.

have a good weekend everybody and try not to stress!

Hi everyone, I've just been lucky enough to get an interview invite for Dec 2nd.

Can anyone offer any insight into the Rockford interview? I apologize for redundancy, but I've searched most of this year's and last year's threads and can't seem to find the answer even though people have already asked. Thanks for your help!

I interviewed at Rockford. It was a pretty short and chill interview day. There's a tour and a presentation. The interview itself is really short. Just 30 minutes. It's a panel interview that consists of 2 faculty a student and yourself. It's pretty laid back. No one from my interview day got any particularly difficult questions.

Thanks a lot.

And really? Just a 1/2 hour? Well the shorter the interview, the less opportunities for me to screw up.

Yeah it's really short, but it's also dense. They ask a lot of questions in that time period.

Interviewing on the 30th, any insights into the interview day at the Chicago campus? I hear there are 2-3 separate interviews, is that correct? I've never done so many for just 1 school...advice would be appreciated! Also, any specific questions a lot of ppl got asked?

side bar: Anyone find it strange that depending on the campus, the interview day isn't consistent, specifically # of interviews? I wonder how they judge everyone then since some interviewed with only 1 person and others with more....😕

The day is pretty chill--depending on the time, you'll come in for a morning or afternoon interview (before or after the "group activities" at 11:30a--presentation/orientation to the school's mission, lunch, tour, etc.) There are three interviewers, each about 30-45 minutes.

I don't think it really matters how many interviewers one has; it is much more important to have an assessment of the person's ability to hold a conversation and talk about themselves in a non-socially awkward manner.

..as well as demonstrate their genuine desire to save the world as a physician. 🙂

I officially got my campus placement at Chicago over the weekend! I'm pleased, but also quite worried about the OOS cost! It's insanely/ungodly high...I mean, for goodness sakes, what are they thinking?! It's wayy above the average for even a private med school!

Haha..good point!

I have been complete since 7/22...and I have been "applicant in process" the whole time! I never went through the "application" phase. I have a feeling the two are the same and we are trying to read too much into it. Or maybe I'm just on hold or something.

I feel your pain. I have been applicant in process for over two months now👎.. But I was in application in process for about a month prior. I thought if any school was going to show me love, it would have been this one.😡

Any guesses on when the adcom will meet next for more decisions?!?

It's times like these that I'm glad I'm in-state 😀

Sorry for the extra debt my fair state is going to put you in 🙁

See ya in Chicago!~

Has anyone else noticed that UIC charges $40000+ a year for your sophomore and junior year (an extra $10,000 for the summer).

It really doesn't make its in-state price all that much cheaper than many other private schools out there (that are also located in less costly neighborhoods)

I could really use an interview invite...+pity+But 👍 to those receiving good news today.

"A final decision was made on your application on 11-18-10. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone."

Oooooh that doesn't sound good!

Is there going to be a CBC email this round?

I have add. correspondance tab (11/18/2010) and "A final decision was made on your application on 11-18-10. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail." Got it 2:50 ish pm, refreshed all day cuz i know they did adcoms today.

Sorry if i sound like im repeating the same question, but that means acceptance right?

Those of you with the "decision made" status, when did you interview?

oct 29th for me
based on past threads, it can either be today/tomorrow for the status change.

Most likely an acceptance. I've talked to the admissions office this year about the CBC emails and they said they wouldn't be going out until sometime next year (2011). So I don't think people should be waiting on CBC emails until January hits.

I have today's date next to the additional correspondence tab...the previous people who were accepted had nothing in the box. That sort of scares me...

The best thing you can do is....? Just wait and see what happens. No need to go nuts on something that seems anonymous. Just relax, wait it out.

Do you think they are still updating statuses, or do the people with "decision pending" have to wait until next month...?

Hello,

I've read on this thread that the third thursday or second last thursday of the month is when the ad com sits to decide on acceptances....however, does this also apply to interview invites? Or is it a rolling process for interviews...thanks for the insight.

A.

Ugh I still have decision pending as of now. They don't all change instantly at te same time right? I should just keep waiting?

Mine says that too, but I just interviewed 11/10

When did you interview?

Decision pending status today, but pre-interview, so.... I'm guessing rejection. 🙁

I interviewed 10/29.

In last years thread, half of the people heard the day of the adcom meeting and the other half heard the next day. Here's hoping for the same thing this year..

So for the people who already got accepted, was there anyone whose status changed the day after the meeting instead of on the same day?

Just wondering if it's definitely a hold if we are still "decision pending" as of now.

I agree i have the same message except mine doesnt have a date.... hope its a fluke

I also have the "Final decision" status! And there is a date (11/18/2010) listed in my Additional Correspondence tab.

Now I'm getting neurotic over the date/no-date placement in the Additional Correspondence tab...I really hope this means good news though! To people in Illinois who got accepted, how long did it take for you to receive your envelope? I'm thinking a couple of days after the status update?

Fingers crossed 🙂xf::luck:) for good news!

Edit: I interviewed on Oct. 4th.

it means an acceptance. UIC doesn't do rejections or waitlist this early (they said this in the interview)- everyone last year who got the final decision message was accepted.
Just curious, but has anyone else heard this during their interview day or anywhere else? I'm probably being really neurotic regarding the date in the correspondence tab but, if this statement can be validated by others, it would at least relieve some anxiety. Thanks!

Kaushik, when your status didn't change last month, did you get an email about being on hold?

Kaushik, when your status didn't change last month, did you get an email about being on hold?
No, I did not. Didn't receive any emails at all. And my status on the website continued to say "Decision pending." I just randomly logged on to check my status today and it changed to the Final Decision one. I reaaallly hope that this means it's good news! :xf::luck:

I interviewed last week, and got the final decision msg- I have additional correspondence w/ yesterday's date (11/18). Agree with Kaushik- hope this means good news!

My status just went from application in process to
"A final decision was made on your application on . Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone."

Strangely there is no date for when the decision was made but as I did not interview, I am presuming this is a rejection.

Hm... that's strange. I thought they don't do rejections. You simply stay in decision pending until the cycle is over.
