Its official i just got it!

And to everyone on here ...

you all are inspiring in your own way. To dedicate a lot of time to just find out if you'll make it to a school or become a doctor like we do....means we care. I hope and pray that all of you will be where you want to be.

I got the Final Decision Made on my status page.
Interviewed 11/15 OOS
Not celebrating yet until I receive the acceptance in the mail.

Anyone know if status updates are made in batches or if we haven't seen a change in status yet that means we have to wait until next month?

I think last year some people heard the following day; this year, it seems like the first day has been the only day.

Either way, AutumnChild, praying you get in

Do you have an additional correspondence tab?

My status didn't change until around 5pm EST so don't worry guys! There's still time!

If you have Final Decision Made + the Additional Correspondence tab that = you're in!

and also, does anyone know how a letter of interest is looked at by the uic committee? does it make a diff?

IrishCalini! My status says decision made! There is an "Additional Correspondence" located to the right of Confirm interview date... I'm not sure I would call it a tab, since I can't click on the Additional Correspondence. It's just there! Does this mean.......? I can't wait to get my letter!

Ahhh! I have the same thing! This is my second cycle and I really really really really would like some good news!! Does anybody know how long the additional correspondence actually takes to arrive for IS. :xf::xf:

Rejected pre-interview. On my one year anniversary of working at the medical school. This is ridiculous.

Congrats! Mine went to my parents' place (they live ~45 min from Chicago) and it got there 2 days after my status changed online.

I'm so sorry to hear this b!! 🙁

ARRRGHHH still decision pending 🙁

I interviewed back in October, so this is the second time I've been passed over. GAH I don't know what the issue is. Time for an update/interest letter?

This is my second cycle also and I am SO happy to have the final decision/additional correspondence status change today!!! I'm IS also, I hope it'll take a couple of days?

this is your year!

For those who received the "final decision" and "additional correspondence" tabs, was it your first or second time being considered by the admission committee? I have good stats and felt the interview went great, but I'm getting the feeling it takes 2 admission committee meetings sometimes.

I would still give it through today about the decision pending-->final decision stuff. Also, there's still at least 4 or 5 more "3rd Thursdays of the month " until May 15th... so just hang in there. Hope you all get in!

For those of you who interviewed in the afternoon...is a 6pm flight out of O'Hare cutting it close? Also, I'm interviewing on a Tuesday if that makes a difference.

Am I going to miss my flight? It's a 6pm exact flight.

eek...i don't think you'll make it. If you do, it'll be really really close. Afternoon interviews go until at least 4pm, 4:30pm if you don't have the last block free. Takes at least 40min to get to O'hare, but that's smack dab rush hour time so it'll probably be more like 1hr+ (this is all driving btw, if you're taking the CTA it'll be somewhere around an 1-1.5hrs which isn't any better)

Autumn is right. It takes about an hour+ to get the Loop and to O'Hare. My afternoon interview went til 4:15...Assuming you can transfer from the PINK line onto the BLUE line...You'll be there at the earliest, 5:00PM...and if your flight leaves at six, you'll likely miss it.

You *may* be lucky and not have an interview scheduled at the 3:30 slot...or you can always try to request that..so you can make your flight....by the skin of your teeth.

Sounds like you'll be getting good news soon! Congrats!!!! :highfive:

I just received an email stating that my application was reviewed this month Post Interview but that they have not made a final decision. Anybody have any idea what this means in terms of chances?

This seems very strange to me as my stats are quite high, my EC+LoRs are great, and I thought the interview went reasonably well though I don't think I really clicked with them. I'm also IS.

In any event, it should be good news for those of you with no status update whatsoever. It probably means they just haven't looked at your file post interview.

Why is it that I turned in my app on 9/17 and my status is still application is in process. It's been 12 weeks. I'm in state and this is my top choice. According to an earlier post, this means I haven't even been looked at yet!

Just got the same email. I interviewed Dec. 8th, have good stats/LORs/ECs, and I'm IS. I think it might take a little while to rise to the top of the post-interview batch. As someone posted earlier, I wouldn't worry too much because there will be 5 more admissions committee meeting before June 1st (which they state as the day where everyone receives a final decision - i.e. accepted, wait-listed, rejected). I'm hoping January so I might have an outside chance at Chicago placement.

Thanks for the input! Yeah I basically decided to just leave the next day and try to fly in that morning so I don't have to pay two nights worth of hotels.

For afternoon interviewees, what time do we have to be there by in the morning? I don't have my snail mail form in front of me and I'm trying to work with my airline.

Thanks!!!! 😀

I had to be there by 11:30..most were there before then...just keep that in mind. I dont' know where you're flying in from, but it'll be pretty streessful unless you can land at O'Hare or Midway by 9 or 9:30 at the latest. (IE: land at 9:30, you are at the O'Hare stop on the blue line by 10:00..you will be in the Loop by 11AM and you gotta find your way to UIC..it will be tough..IMO)

Mine has been "Application is in process" for like 14 weeks now. You're not alone!

Agreed, unless you're flying in nice and early DocTraveler. Then you should be fine.

Are you a Chicago native Asyouwereatrio? You seem quite familiar with Chicago travel times being from Cali and all. Just curious

Hello SDN! I posted on this thread a while back about an interview I have upcoming on January 14th...pretty stoked about it but also was wondering if students who had had interviews already would have suggestions as to where the cheapest places would be for a one night stay? Any medical students care to comment?

One of the medical students actually PM'ed me with a ton of useful info, but unfortunately I won't be able to stay the night...any kind souls out there who would care to help? How much do hotel rooms generally cost in the Chicago area near the school?

Thanks everyone!

Hey you can stay at the dorms for about $75/night. Just call the admissions office, they should be able to provide you with details.

They told me it was $100/night...are they scamming me?

Yeah I am going to take a supppppper early flight. A 6am flight out of La Guardia so I'll be landing at O'Hare around 8 a.m.

Thanks for the info!

really wish they had a student hosting plan or what not...would have given me a good insight into the school. thanks for the heads up! any one else who's interviewed already have other plans other than the dorming option?

I interview in February, but I decided to just book a hotel room on magnificent mile for almost the same price. Check hotels.com there are lots of deals for under $100. And its close to all the touristy areas.

I would not recommend the Travelodge..I stayed there and the water presion was terrible...I couldn't get it hot and it just dribbled out...it made showering quite difficult! The maintenance guy came to fix it..and it worked for a bit and failed again. I switched rooms but it was the same ****...I was in a suite up on the 8th/9th floor though, that might've been why.

UIC offers housing for $75 on the Chicago campus. Not sure about the other campuses. Really really nice place and furnished with everything you could possibly need. Really wished I hadn't arrived close to midnight. I would have had more time to enjoy the comfort.

Hey, does anyone know if there are any restrictions on what type of computer and/or software we should be purchasing for the next year?

Hi all,

I also received an email stating that my application was reviewed this month Post Interview but that they have not made a final decision.
The interview went well and took place in mid November. Any ideas on what this means? I was really hoping things would go smoothly after the interview...🙁😕

I think the interview went really well...and my scores are okay; slightly above average. I'm IS.

Also, is it already too late to be thinking about Chicago campus? I was hoping mid nov. was on the earlier end of the interviewing season.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

I'm a current student and am not entirely convinced you even need a laptop (even though they say it's required). I only carry my iPod touch most of the time and use the on-campus computer labs. You'll want something for watching lectures at home + something portable for viewing Histology labs, but you could easily get a netbook + desktop if you prefer.

Of course you'll need a really big TV screen to go with the desktop 😀

Don't overanalyze yet - anyone who interviewed has a really good shot of getting in and they are still reviewing your app. Could be they're just busy with the the holiday season, and they're still doing first reviews of apps. They want to make sure the class makeup as a whole is balanced, so sometimes they're hesitant to fill up too many slots too early.

There were people in my class who were accepted late in the spring and still got the Chicago campus. You can always petition for it later if there's a legit reason you need to be in the city (e.g. spouse, sick family member)

Who's starting the UIC Class of 2015 facebook thing? 😛

Kaushik! You should start the UIC Class of 2015 Facebook Page! I second that! heheheh....

btw, I got the packet in mail today, it is an acceptance! I think I need someone to pinch me! J/K...

altoid25, and anyone else who had the decision made + additional correspondence on Thursday 12/16 should be getting something in mail soon!

Completed 7/15 ish
Interview 12/10
Acceptance 12/20

Anyone else waiting for hear from UIC, hang in there! Best wishes to you all~

Does anyone know when they are going to re-review applicants who have been on hold?
