BWSTW: lol, I used to go to the cosmosphere a lot for the IMAX theater during middle and high school years.
Where are you from Lostking? You seem to like Salina a lot haha. I become depressed whenever I go there =D

I have only been to the "free" part of the cosmosphere once - then found out last month that if you are from Reno county you get in free. 🙄
I haven't been to an IMAX theater since grade school. I need to check it out again. lol

ha when I went to the cosmosphere for the first time I just stood at the front door with my jaw on the floor looking at the SR-71. lol I was like 12.

No I'm from the Wichita area... The more I think about rural primary care, the more I think I want to do that. I really want to spend some time with a couple of those kind of docs and see what it's like. I just think I would enjoy that life, but really have nothing but a preconception of what it would be like.

Does KU use the highest score from each section of your MCAT? Or do they use the latest score or average?

composite score of each of your highest scores from each section

i believe sandra mccurdy said it during a KU open house last year when explaining why it was beneficial for KUMED hopefuls to retake the MCAT if their scores were not competitive the first time.

Well, guess we are down to two weeks left of waiting - if they are on the same schedule as last year anyway.

Julies, any particular reason why you weren't accepted if you don't mind me asking? =). Mine was shadowing...yea just that.....this year I'm more improved and ready to roll at any time =D

She said basically that they said that they thought that I did not have the best clinical experience. I work in a pathology lab and have a ton of health care experience because of this job. I work with tons of drs and know how the system works. I do not get to see patients so I do not have the best idea of that aspect of medicine but I have done quite a bit of shadowing. They also commented on my volunteer experience being lacking but I did work while in college so they said it was not that big of an issue. The main thing that she stressed was just that I was competitive but the other people were just more competitive. She didn't really tell me too much about what i could do to improve.

Let's get things right this time shall we? =D.......if not, there's always next time lol....but let's not make that an option =D

Since no one else would give more opinions on the ethical question about giving the organ to which recipient, I would like to say that I was just joking (recipient that is a best match but an alcoholic etc)....the answer I posted was just to attract more opinions. It would not be an answer that I would give during an actual interview so I hope I didn't misguide/steer anyone wrong =).

Yeah, ummm hmmm, Sure, - like we believe you now...😉

j/k 😀

I had a dream last night that my MEDS page said I had been granted an interview in Oct. Here's to hoping that dream comes true! :xf:

It's coming next week....looks like you're ready to roll =)

Yeah, I'm just ready to hear something!

Anyone taking classes this semester?

I thought every in-state applicant gets an interview.

Not yet. Patiently waiting... or is it not so patiently waiting? ha ha ha

I think everyone does essentially. 3.2cGPA and 24 MCAT with "no red flags".

Anyone hear anything from the KU camp?
It has to be next week.....possibly from Mon to Thurs.......and no later than that. The next and final stage is here, get ready guys lol. Anyone brave tried calling them yet?

Last year they notified everyone on a Friday, so it is possible we won't hear anything until next Friday.

Agreed, we should know by friday at the latest. It sounds like they had an inordinate amount of EDP applicants last year which potentially delayed the process. Regardless, can't believe everything starts next week. Definitely excited but I'm disliking the nerves/doubts I've developed regarding my application. Felt so confident until now haha. Hope everyone is managing ok, best of luck next week! I'll be sure to post something as soon as I hear. If anyone has any general questions regarding the process/interview, feel free to PM me. Obviously I have limited knowledge but I would still love to help out!

Which makes me wonder if they will be sending something today, but so far it seems like they are on the same track as last year. I guess we'll find out when we find out. :xf:

Yeah that would be awesome. The secondary/welcome email they sent back in July did explicitly state that interview invitations would go out "early september". Possible we'll hear something before Wednesday but not counting on it. Planning on a lonnngg weekend.🙄

Yep, last year they notified us friday before labor day. Hopefully, they do it earlier this year. It sucks to have to wait until the last minute especially when you have to tell your job. Going to be a long week!!!!!

Actually, it was the end of the day on Friday last year. Not to get anyone discouraged or anything🙁

Don't have doubts about your application. I am sure that if you felt confident before that you have a solid application. They would be lucky to have you so remember that. Plus as a re-applicant your chances are better. Most of us do not have a perfect application, there are always holes somewhere. Let your passion/desire and determination be heard. When it comes down to it that is one of the most important parts of medicine. 🙄

Do we need to start a pool on when they will notify everyone? he he he

I am going to agree. Friday 4:30. Maybe 4:45. I think last year they updated the MEDS page first, or for mine anyway. Then the e-mail came in the evening, kind of late. But I was not invited for an EDP interview so maybe different if you are.

Just got an interview invite. Looking forward to it, best of luck to everyone else!

Finally, fortune smiles upon me 😀

Good luck guys!

Congrats you guys!

Did it show up on your MEDS page?

Ok, I didn't get an ED interview (which I already knew that), so now I am keeping my fingers crossed I get one for RD.

...so now I am keeping my fingers crossed I get one for RD.
I'm sure you will. Although last year during RD, I was interviewed by a faculty member and a student. The student asked me what I would do if I didn't get in that year. She said that she didn't get in her first year, and it was a good experience to be forced to spend another year thinking about it. Naturally, I said I would be back next year knocking on the door. I don't know if that caused them to test my patience, but I do know plenty of people in the same situation. So keep this in mind: if you're not the perfect applicant, they will likely try to beat you around until you're the right shape.

Yeah, I am prepared to do this all over again. lol

Bumped out of ED, they invited me for october RD interviews in wichita or november in KC.

Congrats on getting your interviews guys! Best of luck to all and especially to BWSTW! I'm also invited for ED interviews but not revealing the date due to not wanting people to look around finding me during the event lol (who's this drak guy eh?). =D

Same for me. I am a little bummed about ED, however I am non-trad so kind of expected it. Looking forward to November. Good luck to all those that received ED interviews!!!

Interesting, are you really an optometrist =)? What made you to switch careers if you don't mind me asking =)? Best of luck though! I'm just waiting to get in and then study my butt off and then go save people. I'm tired of being unable to do much for the people around me who are getting sick, especially cancer patients =(. I like EM though =).

Congrats on your interview drak and ksidoc! Sorry it's not ED (ksidoc), but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Yes, really an optometrist. I am switching careers because I feel very unsatisfied with my current profession. I want to have a greater impact on the people I see and a greater part in their health care. Mid level practioner is not enough to make me happy for the next 30 years of my working life. I agree, EM has a strong draw for me; one of my closest friends is an ER doc and LOVES what he does. Has great stories and has a huge impact on the health of those he sees. Don't get me wrong, EM has its pitfalls as well, but the energy and level of involvement at work is much more than I will ever see as an optom.

BWSTW, did they ask you for an interview?

No, they kicked me back into the RD pool, which is what I was expecting, and really meant to do apply for in the first place. :smack:
