Just got a call from Dr. Brooks yesterday! I'm so excited and I can't wait to meet everyone! 🙂

Random question that probably has no meaning at all behind it but.... Why do some people get calls from Dr. Brooks, and others from Mr. Perez??? Does this have anything to do with those applying to SELECT, or is it just a random, you get half the bunch type thing?

Random "who's in the office and can make calls" type thing

Thanks! 🙂 Yes I'm definitely going...does anyone know what day it is in April?

You should have gotten an invite with the date. There may also be 2nd date if the first one fills up.

Any current students want to post a match list? I'd be interested in seeing the results from yesterday.

Thanks

Question!

Is there a Facebook group for those who were accepted?

Also, post-acceptance, what grades do we have to maintain in order to keep our acceptance?

Wouuld reallyyy appreciate clarification! Thank you!

The acceptance packet says you need to send transcripts and successfully complete your degree. I guess the specific grades depend on your undergrad or grad program, for example, I need C's to pass while some majors need D's.

🙂. I'm just happy for my friends matching where they want to. I know a lot of people in that class. I'd say 25% of the class if not more. The kids who graduated college in 2007 as well as a couple of the nontrads in that class were the kids who I were friends with moreso then people who were my age. So this was their year.

Its impressive that one of the kids in that class and the 2 I knew from UF med are all going to end up together at UF for rads residency. lol.

Wow, that's exciting 🙂 btw you are so helpful and nice to everyone, I'm rooting for you. GL girl.

Hey everyone, just wanted to make sure I'm not missing it, but there isn't a fee to pay along with an acceptance right?

Just got the call this morning!!! USF here I come this is the cl I've been waiing for 😀

heres hoping for waitlist movement.

I dont know what to do if i get in here and UCF.

tough decision.

Does anyone know if they are even still inviting for interviews? At this late in the game is there any chance they'd be more willing to tell me if they've reviewed my application if I call them?

Canhasnaps,

If you could read the above and get back to me that would be well appreciated. I'm starting to get concerned. In 3 days its officially april and I've not heard anything either rejection or interview from this school. And unlike other schools no one is really helpful in even giving general insight into where I am with them. Confused what I should do. its getting harder to sit tight as its nearing the end.

Email them and nicely ask how much longer they will be interviewing. I know they sent a round of invites out this week, and they have all been really good about answering questions. No news is better than a preinterview rejection!! Keep your hopes up and be positive. They know how stressful this is on applicants, and I know that a brief, friendly email would not be looked down upon. Good luck 🙂.

who did u email? The mdadmissions email or Mr. Perez?

I emailed Mrs Kinsella. The mdadmissions email goes to her. She has been extremely nice every time I have spoken with her or emailed back and forth. I asked someone in their office about the rumor that they do not want correspondence and I was told that is completely false. After that, I have had nothing but positive feedback from the admin office.

I honestly don't know. I haven't been by the office in a while.

I asked someone in their office about the rumor that they do not want correspondence and I was told that is completely false. And that issue with correspondence had to do with post-interview updates, of which you are allowed one before the committee meets and votes on you. The other issue had to do with general politeness and not being annoying. There has never been a "no contact/correspondence" policy with USF. I think the issues earlier in the year had to do with people abusing Adrienne with either multiple requests for the same info and/or general rudeness.

How do you know what the exact situation was? I was not rude to adrienne when I saw her. I just politely asked since I was in the area whether there was a way of finding out the status of my application to which she said no. But the issue was it would be nice if they did as they did in the past in the old era at least give some idea if u are still really under review or even been reviewed yet. they used to tell u these things easily. Also, 2 years ago when I went in to ask something and I just made a small comment that when REL was there he said something related to the situation I was in there to discuss she snapped at me for the mention of REL's name.

I can assure you I was not rude as I know when I've been rude but that was not one of those times. It was cleared up by someone else at the time. But my point is do not assume its always the students at fault. Sometimes it is. But sometimes the office has been quite rude when they want for no apparent reason. I've seen it happen and heard other stories.

But whatever. Looks like I just got the rejection email after hearing nothing for months.

Whoa....that was a general comment and not directed towards you or your specific situation at all. That was me going back to what I was telling people, in general, at the beginning of the admission cycle.

Guju, I don't think he was speaking specifically of your situation. I think he was just speaking of general rudeness by students and annoyance of the admissions office. I am sorry that you received a preinterview rejection...I will keep my fingers crossed for you for the other schools you are applying for.

I should probably read through the entire thread before posting this...buuut I'm going to post anyway:

I was recently waitlisted at USF, the program is my top choice (and I'm an out-of-stater!)...but in doing some research about admissions I read that post-interview USF either gives an acceptance or waitlists (so no outright rejections for those who have been interviewed). I know the adcom no longer gives information regarding where you are on the waitlist, but has anyone else heard of this? Am I destined to remain in the pool of waitlisters with everyone else who wasn't outright accepted after their interviews? I've got hope beyond hope, but if there are 200+ on the waitlist and I've no clue where I am on it...well, that tends to make me nervous:eyebrow:

Most of the waitlist movement happens in May and June. If you haven't heard anything by the end of June, it's a very slim chance. Historically, ~60 people are accepted off the waitlist.

Got the email for an interview invite back on Thursday evening. Scheduled my interview with Adrienne and will be interviewing on April 12th 😎, which seems like the last day since the only other option they gave me was a single slot that opened up for April 5th due to a cancellation (a bit short notice for me).

Yikes, this is bad news for me 🙁 Still waiting for interview...But congrats for the offer!

Can anyone else confirm that April 12th is the last interview day?

Thanks! I was honestly expecting a pre-interview rejection since that's all I've been getting lately, and was pleasantly surprised I was invited for an interview.

And let me clarify, I'm just speculating that it's the last day. Adrienne just might not have mentioned the later dates so that people that need time to make travel arrangements can do so. I say give them a quick call to get the official word. Worst it could do is show that you're still interested in the school.

:luck:GOOD LUCK!!!

Anyone interviewing for select this monday? I'm literally 2 minutes from LVH Cedar Crest campus if you have any questions about the area or hospital in general.

Yea, I understand its just speculation. Thanks for your thoughts on calling. I will try that!

I didn't see anything about the CAMLS project in this thread, so I figured I would add this link for anyone considering USF. This is a pretty amazing project...chalk another one up for USF moving up the ranks!!

Got the call yesterday afternoon from USF COM offering me an acceptance!!! (I interviewed March 29th.) I am so so excited to go home and attend medical school! Can't wait to meet you all during orientation, and then attend the white coat ceremony August 12th 🙂

Here's to 4 years/a lifetime of hard work ahead of us!

Has anyone had an experience of interviewing and not hearing back either way? I interviewed about a month ago and never heard back- is this a bad sign?

I remember Mr. Perez informing my interview group that each interviewee should know the admission committee's decision within 2-3 weeks. Additionally, he invited us to call the office if anyone had not heard back after the third week. Hopefully good news awaits you!

Interviewed for select 4/1, accepted 4/21 🙂

Finally got the rejection email after not hearing anything for 6 months. Good luck to all who are still waiting for news!

Anyone from the 4/5 or 4/12 interview group hear anything yet??
