U go to edit. If it won't let you delete it because you've not donated, then just edit it and put a period or some random letter or character in place of it. That's all u have to do.

Thanks! 🙂

No problema. Gotta help out a brotha or sistah depending on whether u a guy or girl. Don't need to tell me which tends to be u. lol 😀

Congrats on USF. 🙂

Thanks! Def my top FL choice. I am sure you will get into UCF, according to my phone call and email from them, they have been able to make it through half the wait list the past two years. :xf:

CONGRATULATIONS MDeadmau5!
Do you know if all calls were made yesterday for those that were accepted? I also interviewed on your day and did not receive a call, so now I am worried that its going to be bad news 🙁

hey blackbelt,

not sure if all calls were made that day. i got the call saturday afternoon. it was a pretty brief congratulations. he said that i would get an official letter and packet soon through snail mail. he said that they like to call the accepted applicants. i didnt really ask about if all ppl found out their decision that day or any waitlist info. im sorry. good luck

Listen organicchem2, how do you know what type of physician I will be based on an SDN post? I know for a fact I will be a great physician - as proven by my acceptances.

DocTraveler - I don't doubt you will make a great physician one day and also congratulate you on your acceptances. I also totally understand your desire for anonymity on this site; I hesitate to post for the same reasons you mention. However, I couldn't let your statement slide that your acceptances "prove" you'll be a great physician. Might want to be a little more careful about your phrasing since I think we all know it takes a lot more than an acceptance, or multiple ones, to become a great physician.

Hey everyone,

My application was complete early January, and I have not received word yet about an interview request. It has been a month -- has anyone submitted their application around the same timeframe and gotten an interview request already? Thanks in advance!

As most of you know, being a good doctor has nothing to do with where you go to med school or how many you get accepted to AT ALL!

Anyone from the 2/1 interview group hear anything back yet?? I loved this school and am excited about getting an update!

complete 8/20/10, still no words from usf. most likely I am out of the game.

Contrats to all who got accepttance.

No word yet! I think they said it till take at least 3 weeks and from the looks of SDN sometimes more.

Hi everyone! i cant wait to meet you all! (second look in mid April?) I am excited to start USF COM in August!! wish you guys good luck if you are on the waitlist! and congrats to the accepted!!

If you are accepted expect about 3-4 weeks. If you are waitlisted expect a letter in about 4 months, give or take a week or two.

Accepted via phonecall this morning! 🙂 Interviewed 2/1. Can't wait to go to second look!

I'll be applying in next year, thus would love to hear more details. Do you mind providing with your scores and whatnot so that to have an actual feeling of how the cycle is rolling in this year?

Congrats to all accepted applicants!..

Thanks looneytune, can't wait to meet you too. And ceng2doc, I'll PM you 🙂

Congratulations! You were all worried for nothing. The best chance is usually always in your home state. It probably won't matter much if you get the interview at SUNY Buffalo now.🙂

Thanks Maxwell and Docjlud, you guys are too sweet 🙂 I appreciate it.

Does anyone know how late USF interviews till? In their email for the secondary they said through mid-May, which seems pretty late? Correct me if I'm wrong?

Has anyone received a packet in the mail about the SELECT Program?

mid MAY??????? Now I'm going to look up the email. I thought it was til April.

"Our interview season begins in mid September and normally goes through mid May. If you are eligible for an interview, you may be invited during any given week until we cease interviewing. If selected, you will be contacted by email to arrange your visit. You will normally be contacted about one to two weeks prior to the first interview date that we will offer to you. We interview only on Tuesdays."

That's what the email said when I was complete. It seemed a lot later than the average interview cycle...?

wasn't sure if one should feel special for getting an invite opportunity for an interview or it was something that was sent to a lot of people because 2011 will be the their inaugural class

Well I think it is somewhat special. I mean you have to be invited to interview for this program and even if you do or don't get picked, you still have a spot in the regular M.D. program in Tampa. Just depends on if it's something you would like or not.

Worth taking a look at it IMO.

I just got the call this morning! : ) Interviewed on February 8th !

I fell in love with this school today, absolutely AMAZING. Every school tries to sell themselves to you and USF doesn't even need to try the students are so visibly happy there and the clinical experiences are fabulous. The admissions team does do a great pitch tho! Anyways, seriously most relaxed inteview and very friendly people. The student dinner at Jasons was great too! I don't have enough good things to say about the school.

that meant to say I can't say enough good things about the school.. you get the point.

Can anyone share what type of financial opportunities are available for OOS students at USF? And realistic expenses (i.e. living, transportation, parking) outside of tution and school fees? THANKS!

Interview Invite yesterday, but respectfully declining 😉 Sorry USF, you were toooooo late!

Hope someone benefits from me withdrawing my app here 🙂

I received an interview invite yesterday afternoon, also!! This is THE interview invite I had always hoped would arrive 🙂

For those who are curious:
- FL resident
- secondary submitted --> 9/5
- secondary completed --> 9/14
- interview invite --> 2/23

"We have decided to place you on our wait list...This decision is final"
Um, no it is not a final decision. Eventually you're going to actually make a final decision, but this wasn't it, guys.
Really thought I'd see some love after a short notice interview invite when I didn't have a complete secondary. Sheesh.

Chances of MD Admission = crapshoot and no one could convince me otherwise.

i second you on the crapshoot thing...........i thought this was one of my better interviews and i was waitlisted...... I was a little more nervous for whatever reason at my UF interviews and didnt feel quite as confident about them but got accepted there......

About half the incoming class is taken from the waitlist every year. Don't count yourself out until July. Most of the waitlist movement is in late May through June.

any opinions on the change in 4th year curriculum?

what changes to the 4th year curriculum? What is being proposed? This is the first I've heard of such. I know some changes happened to year 1 but I've heard nothing about this.

If I'm not mistaken, I think they are referring to the "personalized" type rotations 4th year. Past students had been giving feedback that 4th year wasn't useful to them in the future, so now they are making required rotations geared towards what you want to go into.. I think... 🙂

From what I gather by talking to some of the students is that an elective will now be offered during the 3rd year, with the option to do the ER rotation during the 4th year.

There has been quite a bit of retooling of the 4th year curriculum since I was a student 3 years ago. Previously there were 4 required months - 2 of critical care, skin and bones, and oncology. Gone is oncology and 1 of the critical care blocks is replaced by an acting internship. I am biased towards oncology, but I think overall the changes have been for the better. And a testament that the school is willing to listen to feedback and act upon it.

There may be other changes that I am not aware of, but this is what's going on as far as I know.

The USF clinical experience is fantastic, and probably the strongest point about the school. My take on med school was that the 1st and 2nd years were more or less standardized across the country since it's memorization for the most part. The art of medicine is learned in the clinical years where you learn "the intangibles", which really distinguishes programs from each other.

As an aside, the LCE program at USF during the 1st and 2nd years is also valuable where you get some clinical experience during the preclinical years. Many schools have something similar. It's also a great way to get exposed to fields you normally wouldn't during the 3rd and 4th years and several of my classmates ended up going into those fields at least in part because of their LCE experience. The same goes for me - I would have had no idea what rad onc was about otherwise.

Thanks for responding, I just have one quick question. The first two years they set up exams to sort of mimic usmle type questions. Do you think this makes any difference in performance?

I was also very excited about LCE, even if you start out completely clueless it's nice to have the exposure and growth.

The exams are multiple choice like the USMLE. They also mix in different subjects on the same exam like the real test does too. I think that can only help. I would assume most schools test like that, however, but obviously don't know for sure. By the way, almost everyone in the country uses either the Kaplan QBank or USMLE World to study for boards, which are online question banks. That is going to be by far the most useful way to study for boards when you get to that point. I would go with USMLE World because it's cheaper and just at good.

So does anyone know if this school takes update/letter of interest letters from people on their waitlist?
