An update on why UTMB is taking so long to send anything out. Admissions is currently in this really old run down building that's falling apart alot faster than anticipated. Right now they're frantically trying to move to another building an will start sending stuff out once they're done moving.

My application was transmitted on 8/3 and I hadn't heard anything from UTMB, so I decided to send the admissions committee an email asking about the status of my application. They replied saying that I was scheduled for an interview this friday!? I never received any sort of notification from them as to whether my application was even received. Has any one else had this happen to them?

Yes, I check my spam folder when there is something in it. They haven't gotten back to me about rescheduling either.

Thanks for your post... I emailed them to see the status of my file as well because I heard from most of the Texas Schools except UTMB, UTH, and TTHSC

I am applying as a Texas Resident (I am NOT sure exactly how this whole visa/residency thing works, but through parents work, we were all given residency). I do hope to become a US citizen eventually, since I would LOVE to work here!!!
I guess I am still learning, trying to figure out what to do now - My AMCAS was finally verified so I feel like a sitting duck. I was told to wait until I got "secondary" emails, so that is what I am doing. My TMDSAS has not been transmitted yet, but my goodness, I still have UTMB as my top choice, I love it there!!!

Have you done the Texas secondaries? They will not send you emails to complete them usually... I would start on those and turn them in even before your TMDSAS is sent out to the schools...

Haha, I wasn't talking about this school... I was talking about all of the Texas secondaries in general (Tech, UTSW, TCOM and A&M)... The posters post was not about UTMB really...

Got an invite yesterday for an interview 09/17, but I'm going to lubbock that day. They sounded a wee bit inflexible in their email ("Please keep in mind that UTMB does not routinely reschedule interviews.")I pinged back a polite request to be moved....hope they do!

Congrats! Don't worry too much about all that, we're pretty relaxed here. Last year I had an interviewer who wanted to get into some healthcare policy stuff but I think he just wanted to see how I reacted. I think they only had the ps, but I'm not sure. I hope the rain clears up for you guys.

Hey, I interviewed on august 13. The interviewer only had access to my SAT/ACT scores, personal statement, and schools I applied to as far as I remember. Didn't get any current event questuons, they were only about why I wanted to be a doc, whether I was really committed, and whether I wanted to stay in texas and practice or not...I had to elaborate on some of my extracuricular activities and stuff...but it wasn't stressful at all, just go in cheerful, passionate, and confident about yourself!!!

Im sad too. You know, when I went to the Tech interview last week, everyone there seemed to have been to their UTMB interview already... Made me feel like I was not getting as many Texas interviews as I would have hoped...

I transmitted to them 7/16/10 and I still have not received any emails regarding them having received my application or them reviewing it.
Is this normal? If not should I email them or call them to request a status update?

I tried calling Theresa Silva, the one who sends out the emails. She didn't want to know my name or anything, all she would tell me is that if I haven't received an interview yet, I might get one in the future for a later date or I'm not being considered for an interview at all. She said my only option was to wait until the end of their interview season and see.
Btw TMDSAS for me was sent on 6/4 and I got an email from them on 7/9 saying my app was complete and under review. Haven't hear anything else since then.
I got that email today too, I'm hoping an invite will be soon to follow. The anxiety of waiting and checking my email 20 times a day is starting to get to me.

At least it was only 3 weeks ago. I've been waiting for over 2 months

That's the one. I still haven't received it and it's been two months since I transmitted 😛
I transmitted 9/8 and received the email yesterday 9/14. Was your TMDSAS application complete with everything? If it was I'd call maybe they have a wrong email, you never know.
Got that email on 7/23... hopefully I'll hear from them at some point!
My friend just called Theresa because he was in the same boat, and I told him what they said to you. She also mentioned to him that the average applicant they were considering was a 3.7/29 if this information is helpful to anyone.

Don't worry guys. I got a bunch of interviews all at the end of the interview season last year... Interviewed at UTMB, Tech and A&M between Nov 13 - Dec 10 after spending the season panicking lol, and then got into UTMB in the end.
For those of you who have interviewed at UTMB, it's been awesome seeing all of you on Friday mornings 🙂 UTMB really is an amazing school... we aren't just putting on a song and dance for interviewees... So far, I truly LOVE medical school and even though I have a test on Friday (first one lol) I'm not pulling my hair out with stress... I'm just happily studying away (and posting here on study breaks). So don't worry, be happy, you'll all be in soon and hopefully at UTMB!
If you have ANY questions, PM or message here and I'll try to get back ASAP. I tend to reply quicker to PMs though because it emails me when I get those. I'll post any info that could be helpful to others here if I get questions.

I know that it stressful but honestly you guys are in a good place. You gotta understand that interview season for Texas last till December (at least UTMB) so you have plenty of time to hear from schools. I interviewed starting in October and UTMB interviewed me in late November and I got my offer the week before Christmas. At least you guys are in the TMDSAS system now because I feel sorry for those who have not submitted yet.
