Congrats to all that got accepted! Anyone that got accepted interview in late October?

Oops, I meant September 30th. Good thing calendar reading skills weren't on the MCAT...

I was notified via e-mail.

Ah, ok. We could be onto something. Maybe the late October interviewees will have better luck in the next round :xf:

best 2 words I ever read!

My stats: In state, 3.45cGPA, 35Q, non trad (2 yrs working at University of AZ hospital as an RN), interviewed early october

Quick question myself to those accepted....for the paperwork that they want us to send in, the formal acceptance is a letter that we write/send to them saying we accept and will abide by the standards right? Just want to make sure there is not a form with a "check accept or decline" section that was supposed to be attached or something. Thanks

To those accepted, the letter, residency form and agreement to the code of conduct, is that a final commitment to the school or just a reservation for a spot? I figure it's the latter but it all seems a bit much for being noncommittal.

Anyone here interviewing with me Dec. 13 in the morning?

When are the next set of acceptances being sent out? I believe there will be one more date in December.

Anyone out of state got accepted in the first round? Please share. Thanks

Colberag - I typed a letter that stated my acceptance and agreement to the Code. Didn't see any link to a form like the others. I plan to call later this week and make sure they got it and it's all good.

Local Native - Yes, just to hold your spot. Perhaps they just want it up front so they can keep it on file. At least we don't have to put down any deposit money.

Congrats to everyone else also accepted in the first round!

got my secondary application in late (nov. 5th).. does anyone know when (if) i can expect to hear anything back? has anyone else applied this late?

Hey folks,

Congrats to everyone who was accepted! For those of you who are planning on going to the college pretty much for sure should join the Facebook group I linked to below. I am currently a first year and I would be happy to answer any questions you have. (Please PM me as I don't follow the forums much) Also, I have made another Facebook group for any of you that are not yet sure or not yet accepted (other med students will be prowling this group to answer any questions you may have).

Hmm, well, I got my interview invite around that time and January interview spots were already filling up. That might not necessarily knock you out of the running either. Also, if you get a rejection, make sure to call and confirm as I received a rejection prior to an invite. Just try to stay optimistic, as this whole application process in general is terrible for mental health.

I truly do hope you at least get a chance to interview after going through the trouble of a secondary application. There is one iota of good news; if you look at statistics from years past U of A traditionally interviews about 90-95% of in state applicants that were invited for a secondary.

I submitted mine around the same time as you ("secondary materials received" email on Nov 8) and out of nowhere today I received an interview invite.. definitely surprised me!

so i'm guessing you're not out of the running yet! best of luck, hope you hear back soon 👍

Has anybody gotten off hold and received an interview?

I was put on hold in late September. Then I was rejected on October 24th, only to get an e-mail an hour later that the rejection was a mistake and they wanted to invite me to interview. It's a bumpy road. Hold isn't a death sentence! And apparently a rejection is here, either.

"Traditionally."

This year the school changed a couple things:

1. Accepting up to 50% out of state
2. Reducing the number of interview from ~750 to ~500

Here's to hoping. I really like both AZ schools... and they seem to be my best bet for getting in at all.

For those who have interviewed, do the interviewers have access to our files? I understand some of the questions in the MMI will be traditional questions and I'm wondering if those will be open-file or closed-file.

fingers crossed for you. :xf: good luck to all those still waiting :luck:

Any idea when the next wave might be released?? Should be relatively soon!

I don't know that we're going to be hearing anything today because I just called the admissions committee and they said they will be releasing by the end of next week.

those accepted, did you get anything in the mail?

So I got the acceptance email back on the 2nd and mailed out my acceptance letter and all the other forms right away. I still haven't heard back from them other than the letter that was the same as the email.

Has anyone heard back from UA Tucson once they sent their acceptance letter?

Anyone have thoughts on how the MMI deal works out? I've been fortunate to have gone on multiple interviews but the MMI will be a first for me. I'm interviewing next month and can't wait to check out U of A and Tucson!

nieth - I emailed the admissions office and they verified receiving my acceptance materials.

startover - I received a letter in the mail with the same info as in the email.

I don't think it was that much different than a normal interview.. Instead of talking to one person who asks you multiple questions, you talk to multiple people who ask you one-ish questions (depending on your answer they can always ask follow up questions if there is more time).

For all MMI's prepare for interesting things like ethics questions, actors, and traditional questions. You can google MMI practice questions and practice some.

Last year Tucson replied once an applicant confirmed, especially true for those who received a "scholarship". If you didn't receive a scholarship, there isn't much left to do until you make your final decision.

Be cautious as you start receiving acceptance letters with money attached. Make sure you ask if the money will continue into your returning years. Otherwise, you might be unpleasantly surprised. I'm attending school OOS (AZ resident) and was offered a scholarship with my acceptance. Little did I realize that the award was non-renewing! Although the 15k was nice, it will not continue and now I'm left with a gap

MMI is a fun way to interview. You rotate along with your fellow applicants through a series of 10 stations or so. On each door is a prompt which you have 2 minutes to read. At that point, you enter the room and discuss the prompt with the interviewer. You don't know who the interviewer is beforehand and they know nothing about you. One or two of the stations are "roleplaying" in which you are expected to act a part. I have done it twice now and I really enjoyed it the second time. The first time, I was too nervous, but there was no reason to be. For each station, you are awarded a score from between 1 and 5 (1 being the best). Your scores are averaged and used to decide your fate.

Remember your interviewers names so you can send them thank you notes, especially if it is a professor, MD, or admissions staff, since they could be on the adcom.

I interviewed at UA on Dec 13th, and they told us the soonest we could receive an acceptance is 3 weeks. They send out emails to everyone after each round of acceptances to let them know their current status (accepted or still in applicant pool). They were doing a round 1 week after our interview, and we were told to ignore the 'still in applicant pool' email if we got one. It seems like acceptances have taken about a month for most people.

Thanks for the replies; I'll definitely be googling and researching a little when I have some down time during Winter Break! Luckily, I did a roleplay at my last interview; I don't know if this roleplay business is a West Coast thing or not but it'll be interesting doing a roleplay with an actor.

Just got this. Interviewed mid October:

"Dear Applicant,

We would like to inform you that although you weren’t selected in this round, there are four more opportunities for acceptance and to be placed on the waitlist. Your application is still under consideration and we will follow up again after the next round of acceptance. Applicants will not be rejected until the end of March.

We understand this is a lengthy process and we appreciate your patience."

+1, interviewed early November. So sad. 🙁 Anyone know if there is still hope? Do many people from this pool get accepted in later rounds?
