Do II's come by email, or do you have to perform their intricate ultra-high security log in procedure?
 
Hey everyone on hold!!

I called into the office today, they said that admissions should be getting out interview decisions (both yes and no) to everyone on hold by the end of next week so hopefully the waiting will be over soon!

omg nerve racking! Thank you for the update!

Do you guys think the decisions will be made for everyone on hold regardless by when they were put on hold?
I know some students were on hold since early January, others earlier than that and some later... I wonder.

Everyone should hear from admissions regardless of when they were put on hold. I was put on hold a week ago and they told me I would hear back by the end of next week or beginning of the following week. The percentage of people who will get an II is also lower now because it's late in the app cycle according to the person I spoke to this morning.
 
So if the people that are on hold will get a decision, what about the people that were never put on hold? I've had just blank spaces on my status page since the beginning of November.
 
I was WL awhile back but have an update I'd like UCSD to know about...does UCSD accept these things?

For people that are already on hold, theres a less than 10% chance they get an interview. Based on that, you can draw your own conclusions
 
So how do I know if they are scheduling me for MMI or the one on one interviews? I applied to PRIME and anticipate MMI, however, I would think the letter would include MMI info. Not really concerned just like prefer no surprises.
 
If you applied PRIME you will do MMI, almost undoubtedly. More specifically, they'll let you know ahead of time exactly what's going on - but right ahead of time. The email comes out like 24 hours before your interview.

Just got the email for the extension of the review for the hold applicants, here's what it says:

"You should have received an email from us previously indicating that your file has been placed "on hold" for a possible interview. Our original estimate of the timeline for notifying hold candidates about a final decision was late January/early February.

Our committee has virtually completed the review of all submitted secondary applications but now must go through the task of selecting "on hold" applicants to fill our remaining interview slots. This process should be complete in the next two weeks. We anticipate having a final decision on all applicants by February 15."

I was placed on hold on 11/30

I also got this email. It also states not to send any update/interest letters, which is old news by now

Hey this is somewhat encouraging. If they were just waiting till Friday to reject us, they wouldn't need another week to do that. Still some hope left...

Yep some hope but it's killing me. I got the same email.
 
Yeahhhhhhhhhh . . . . not holding my breath. In 100% of cases, a "hold" is just a fancy word for rejection. Classic case of pissing on you and calling it rain.

Really we have 0% opportunity for an interview? 🙁
 
Um, definitely not 0, or he wouldn't have sent that email. I would venture a guess that the percentage is quite low though. (i'm on hold too, but not really expecting anything)
 
I'm guessing for a 10% chance of interview off the hold list. (Total speculation)

I spoke to Brian. He says they give out 500 interview, put 500 students on hold and they have about 30 spots of interviews left. Those 30 spots are going to the 500 students on hold, which is about a 6% chance 🙂

Yeahhhhhhh . . . . well, I appreciate making this far. It was a miracle for me to even receive a secondary at this school. :xf:
 
really hoping for some love from my alma mater -_-
6%?!? Those 30 out of 500 applications must be some amazing applicants.

For everyone placed on HOLD, when were you all complete

I was complete 12/20/2011

Is it a bad sign that I haven't received anything yet not even placed on HOLD 😕😱

I hope this doesn't mean they're ignoring the people not on hold 🙁
 
I'm in the same boat - complete 11/20/2011 and no update on status as of yet. So, if we are NOT on hold and haven't received any word yet, is that possibly a good thing? Though - in the email posted by Rogerthis, "Our committee has virtually completed the review of all submitted secondary applications but now must go through the task of selecting "on hold" applicants to fill our remaining interview slots." *This makes me think they haven't decided whether to put me on hold or not!

Has anyone in this situation called admissions to ask? I'm holding out for a miracle!
 
I called and they said there is probably a better chance of receiving an interview if you have not been put on hold but who knows...

lol ru serious? that doesnt make any sense. haha. they make it seem like all the people who arent put on hold end up getting rejected. i guess not.
 
When I called, Brian specifically said that at this point it is better to not have been put on hold...but the email that hold people received makes me wonder...

Do you mind me asking when you called and spoke to Brian? Did he mention anything about when we would know for sure (or should we assume we all find out around Feb 15th time frame)?

maybe it's because if you're not on hold/invited to interview/rejected, it means they haven't looked at your app yet and the chance of getting an interview straight out the shoot is >6% (the chance of being interviewed off the hold list)? I dunno, but that seems like one possibility...

I called and spoke to a woman who said everyone should find out at the same time. She didn't offer anything about chances whether or not you're on hold (didn't think to ask), but she said the next few weeks final decisions on everyone pre-interview will be sent out.
