Nice - well don't be TOO lured by the siren's song of Mayo. It's a fantastic school. Many souls have been lost on her shores.

I would be thrilled to attend Chicago, so I'm not too worried.

Hey there everyone,

I applied to med school last cycle and decided to go to Pritzker, but I deferred so I'll be starting with some of you in the fall. GOOD LUCK WITH APPLYING!! I know you may be experiencing stress and anxiety, but don't let it get to you...I have yet to find that stressing helped with acceptances! ;D

Looking forward to meeting you!

Twitter says: "We had a great Executive Committee meeting yesterday...more accepts coming soon!"

Good luck everyone!

phone call this morning, so excited!!! 😀 interviewed 11/14

Accepted with scholarship this afternoon! I went to UChicago undergrad and I love this school. I am going to have a really tough time deciding on a school come May

Is it known for sure if they re-evaluate continued applicants at some future date (e.g. mid-march) or if they evaluate them as they go along?

My understanding is that continued applicants are evaluated throughout the remainder of the cycle, but I'm not sure. I'll get clarification for you and report back.

Congratulations to all newly accepted applicants. We'll looking forward to welcoming the class of 2016 in August 🙂

Interviewed Dec 5... anyone hear back who interviewed around that date?

Interviewed Dec 5... anyone hear back who interviewed around that date?

People that I interviewed around that time haven't gotten decisions. Keep in mind the office was closed for Christmas and New Year's, so my guess is that your wait will be longer than usual in order to account for that down time.

Thanks! I called today and they said I'd get a decision this week! :Yikes! 🙂

I called the admissions office today and was also told that I would be under review during today's committee meeting. I interviewed on 12/01.

What is the lag between committee meeting and notification? Anyone know?

From reading old posts on this thread, seems like it is about 8 weeks. I interviewed in early Dec too. So nervous!

Our Executive Committee meets this afternoon....more accepts coming this week! #medschool

As a caveat, though, don't think that eight week mark is a hard deadline. Many people wait several weeks longer than eight.

Good luck to all of you this week! Hopefully you'll be getting some phone calls.

Hi,

I was wondering in your opinion if you think that Pritzer and U of Washington at St. Louis are the school that "care" most about numbers. Quite a few of my classmates with 3.8+ gpa, 34-37 mcat have been offered interviews and even accepted at schools like Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Duke, and Weill , while being quickly rejected from Pritzer. I am applying to med schools this upcoming spring and have a 3.87 (4.0 non-science, 3.78 science) and 35 mcat and was trying to determine if its worth applying to Pritzer? Do you believe Pritzer puts the most emphasis on the mcat than other schools and do believe this is on since they probably get many of those accepted to schools like Harvard, JHU, Colombia, etc since they tend to offer great financial aid/grant? any knowledge would greatly be appreciated. thanks.

I have pretty average numbers, significantly lower GPA than you and barely higher MCAT. Of the schools you mentioned, I got interviews at Wash U, Pritzker, Columbia, and accepted to Weill. I'm waiting to hear from the first three. While I don't really have any insight into the process, I wouldn't not apply if you like the school because of the perception that they care about numbers.

Your friends have had a pretty typical experience actually, but I don't think it's because of stats. Pritzker really really emphasizes fit, and some students that get into schools like Harvard and Johns Hopkins don't get interviews at Pritzker. It's just all part of the admissions game: different schools are looking for different qualities in their applicants. That's why you have to apply broadly when you apply to the top schools.

I don't really know enough about Wash U to say how their admissions process works.

People this cycle have been rejected pre-interview with super-high numbers, so I don't feel that Pritzker is a 'numbers school' at all. Of the schools listed, I would say that Pritzker emphasized "fit" the most (they also have imo the most 'humane' admissions process--they don't do silent rejections). I spent a week to work on my Pritzker secondary cause I wanted it to be as good as possible 🙂.

So I think I'm supposed to hear back today or tomorrow (adcom said this week). Fingers crossed!!!

Does anyone know if the phone call and status update come at the same time? Or does status change come before phone? Other way?

PS, I thought it was a super nice touch that at the end of the interview they had us take a group picture.

I LOVE this! I was the weirdo who did this at my interviews with the applicants I really connected with. I think it's a great thing to have for memory's sake, particularly if you end up as classmates with the people in the picture!

I don't think that Pritzker is a numbers school at all. I think they, more than any other school I interviewed at, really look at your application as a whole and evaluate your academic ability, personal qualities, and "fit" with their students/class. The application process can be unpredictable. My advice would be to make sure your application is as strong as possible in all aspects (if there are weak points, make sure you recognize them and are ready to address them if asked in interviews) and apply to the schools you're interested in bc you may not know if you're just the applicant they're looking for.

As others mentioned, there's a strong emphasis on "fit," i.e., exploring how your interests, passions, career goals, and other factors will fit within Pritzker's institutional culture (the values of which are expressed in the mission statement). While academic success - as seen in your academic record and MCAT score - are certainly involved in that determination, by no means is Pritzker what I would consider to be a "numbers school."

Sorry for these multiple posts, but I had to respond to this: many of my classmates still have their interview day photos. It's fun realizing that a few people from your interview day are now attending class with you! I had mine for a while but unfortunately it got lost in the move up to Chicago.

has anyone heard back today? ahhh so nervous

Me dos!! I meant to take a nap and set an alarm on my iPhone, which is the same as the ringer. Literally jumped out of bed, but it was only the alarm...and my heart rate is still not quite normal.

Ahh, why did you tell us that?!?! hahaha definitely didn't help with the nervousness 😛

do calls come at night or in the morning? sorry if this seems excessive, but i keep feeling my phone vibrate in my pocket and to realize that i'm imagining it - want to have a better idea of when the call would come so that i can see through the mirage!!!

As I write this the executive committee is meeting right now...

I'm not sure if the process is the same as it was as last year, but I received my call in the morning. I wouldn't count on hearing anything today. 🙁

ich hab' nichts gehoert

and status is still "interview complete" as opposed to application process complete which some people noted. i think nicknaylor mentioned that there is no real relevance to the status switch though.

Anyone hear anything?

Noo...I guess since I didn't get the call yesterday, I am probably continued as well. Bummer.

Continued means you're going to be continued to be reviewed. It's not the same thing as a waitlist, though the two may seem similar. Based on the pool of applicants that still needs to be evaluated, you can still get accepted. Update letters are strongly encouraged for those that are continued, especially around March or April. Continued is by no means a death sentence. Many of my classmates were initially continued at some point in the process. Don't despair.
