Yeah, early November is a long ways away when you're waiting. This is my first time applying and the only interview I have, so that makes this all the worse.

How is everyone else's interviews going?

Hey Tin Man I interviewed at KU on the 12th, too! We probably totally met. Who were you? I was the girl in the tan pant suit.

Any thoughts from seasoned applicants (congrats to all accepted!) on whether a 28 mcat and 3.9 gpa with good ec's is competitive enough to apply to EDP as a Kansas resident? Trying to decide whether to retake mcat or continue bolstering ec's for next year's cycle. Was too deflated by my score to bring myself to apply this cycle.

28 is a perfectly respectable score. Do what you feel will best articulate your dedication and, in my opinion, what you think will help you become a better physician.

yeah a 28 is a acceptable score, remember it's not all about the numbers. I had an uncompetitive GPA and it didn't matter...if you have the passion and show it, they'll like you

I got a regular decision interview with a 28 MCAT. As far as I hear, if you get the interview, then the academics are considered acceptable, and they're more interested in your character. I didn't get accepted for an EDP interview, but I can't say for sure on what basis they might have rejected me initially (it was more likely my GPA).

I know what you're talking about, though. I had been scoring 32-33 on practice tests, so the 28 was kind of irritating. I've decided that if things don't work out this cycle, I'm retaking it to hopefully boost the score up to a level I think more accurately represents my abilities...

If you only are interested in KU, then a 28 (assuming it is balanced) will definitely not hold you back from getting an interview/acceptance. Shadow as much as possible and get any form of solid clinical experience... KNOW why you want to be a doctor and allow your passion to show through on your application. The thing I love about KU is that they are not number junkies. Sure they're not going to admit someone who they think cannot handle the course load, but you don't have to have a 32+ MCAT to prove that you can. They want people who know what they are getting themselves into and who know that this is what they HAVE to do in life to be happy...someone who is passionate about medicine and service to their community. My MCAT was slightly better than yours with a lower GPA and I was just accepted EDP. Good luck!

Sorry if I'm asking the same question again, but I submitted my secondary a couple weeks back and have not gotten a complete email yet. How long are the waits for complete/II? thanks

Hey Tin Man,

Are you in-state? I see several of your posts for couple of medical schools that I also applied. just curious 🙂

They take around a month to complete your app, and then it just depends from there on your II and if you are oos or not. They typically do oos interviews in Jan/Feb, but they are doing some interviews in Nov for people who are traveling back to KC for the holidays.

Yes, in-state. I haven't heard from my other schools yet.

That's exactly why i love KU

do they actually send you an email when all your secondary stuff is complete or do you just gotta check the website to see when they have all your stuff?

You just have to check the meds page and it will say file complete.

So we know they met yesterday. Some of our fates may already be sealed, and yet we won't know until the beginning of November.

Nothing helps anxiety like spreading it around.

What is the time frame on decisions - 2-3 weeks? Do they let you know when they meet/send out emails?

All I know is that they said they meet on Wednesays, and that they may be finished with Oct evaluations by November.

Thanks for the information! I am really hoping for a turkey day acceptance. 👍

Oh man. I remember they said it would take probably 3 weeks from the time of interview which would be November 2nd for the first interview day.

AHHH! I can't wait!

I've been complete here for 5 weeks, and no word on an interview. When do I start to worry?! (I'm IS.) 😕

According to the schedule I have, it looks like they will start doing KC interviews again November 28th.

Hopefully we'll hear something next week...

According to the schedule I have, it looks like they will start doing KC interviews again November 28th.

I am an in-state applicant, but I currently live out of state. I requested the Nov 28th interview date per the secondary application instructions, but haven't been offered an interview yet.

For what it's worth, this is my third time applying to KU and these are the interview dates from my last two applications:

Invitation recieved 10/14/08, interview on 11/10/08
Invitation recieved 11/02/10, interview on 11/29/10

Anyone betting on this week?

It's been almost three weeks, I would think (hope) that you will hear something this week. :luck::xf:

Yeah, I'm betting they'll want the Wednesday to meet, so I'm betting Friday. Were all notifications sent out via email for acceptances and such?

I believe so.

I am hoping for an interview invite this week. It sounds like they start sending them out ~4 weeks out.

I got mine 2 weeks out and I think that is closer to the norm. :xf:

Same here. Then again, I'm in-state. The later interviews may be announced earlier out if they have more out-of-staters in the mix. Makes it easier to plan getting out here (especially if the interviews are held around holiday times...).

Well I can always hope. It seems like an eternity since my file has been complete.

Does anybody know if they send out rejections at the same time they send invites or do they send rejections just whenever?

If you do not receive an interview invite they wait until the end of the season to tell you - at least that is how it worked for me last year. If you interview then they will notify you when they make a decision.

I reeeeally want to find out before I go back to Africa next week! Pleeease, KU tell me something so I can celebrate or commiserate in America!

Good luck to everyone else out there!:luck:
