Amazing!! 👍Got the acceptance email!! So excited I started crying. 😳

So, I am currently in applicant limbo. Not rejected, not invited for an interview (yet). I was wondering, does anybody know how Michigan feels about an "update" letter written solely to tell them how excited I am about UMich and how/why I'd be an excellent fit for their program?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and a HUGE congrats to all those already accepted!
(Part of me feels like I'm on the eventual pipeline to a rejection 🙁, anybody else in my shoes?)
also in the boat of no love.
if you scroll to the top of this page (page 17) people havementioned that at least on the umich twitter page, they don't like LOI's. i've seen them tweet about this twice already, so i'd imagine they don't value them much. i don't think it hurts to send it but it definitely does not help, and they've said this a few times.

did any of you guys receive a scholarship along with your acceptance?
If I remember correctly (and judging by last year's thread), "recruitment" scholarships won't be announced until at least February or March. Here's to hoping at least some of us can avoid the pain of full OOS tuition! 🙂

Are these "recruitment" scholarships need-based, so they would come out only after filling out the FAFSA?If I remember correctly (and judging by last year's thread), "recruitment" scholarships won't be announced until at least February or March. Agreed!! I think they said that there was roughly $5 Million in scholarships available for the class of 170 kids.

For those who don't follow UMich's admissions twitter:
SDN-Scholarship amount cited not correct but will certainly be substantial & date of allocations was covered during interview day talk.
They said there will be 2 dozen interviews left though!
5 OOS / 5 IS will be taken from defered lot per twitter. Not sure how big the defer pool is.
I am also curious how big the defer pool is... I think last year they took about 1/5 of the deferred list... but it could be completely different this year!
My status page is already updated - deferred til feb

are these defers all "highly desirable" or just feb defers? so curious about the stats for all of this.
Mine is highly desirable. I'm curious too, but it seems like all defers are highly desirable.
Yup, sounds like we are all "highly desirable". I think theyre just trying to make us feel better. Does anyone know if they will take anyone from this list? I doubt that many, feels like a rejection 🙁
me too. 🙁just logged onto my account and saw that my file has been closed 🙁 did not receive an email to check my status yet so you guys might be able to check now too
A senior member of an ad com interviews a nontraditional medical school applicant and the give-and-take appears to be going well. The interview was supposed to last 30 minutes, but the interviewer brings it to a close after 20 with the statement, "Well, Jim, you are an unusual applicant and XYZMS is an unusual medical school."
I'm dying to find out what, if anything, the interviewer meant by the early termination and those enigmatic words.
