Just thought I would throw my piece of data in. Accepted 11/15, interviewed 10/17. Only interview invite so far. Guess they thought I was special.

Some thoughts on the school: It more Scrubs than Grays Anatomy, not Housey at all. LCME probation is embarrassing but not a threat. It's closer to Austin and it isn't Houston.

Ok. Finally got the b**ls to email an update/interest letter. :xf:
 
Interviewed here yesterday nd it was amazing!! This school has definitely moved up my list. Utmb had better bring it!! Lol
 
Just got accepted 11:00am!! OOS interviewed Oct.10th:soexcited::soexcited::soexcited:
 
That's quite a few acceptances on here already. Congrats to everyone accepted and good luck to those waiting! There will be plenty more acceptances in December and on match day. Last year I interviewed here on when I suppose would have been the equivalent of this past Monday, and prematched a few weeks later. It's a nonsensical crapshoot. Hope to see many of you here next year, the new curriculum is gonna be pimp.

Congrats to the upcoming class of 2016!! I am an MS-1 and met some of you when you interviewed. If you have any questions feel free to ask!
 
Hello all, this is my first post. I have been lurking around for quite sometime now. But today I'm posting because I'm quite worried as I interviewed on the 24th of October and it seems like everyone who interviewed BEFORE AND AFTER this date have heard back.

Is this normal? Hopefully it isn't a rejection🙁. Happy thanksgiving all!

You'll be fine, it's not too late yet. If you have no shot there, they will send you an email eventually.
 
Has anyone started a UTHSCSA Class of 2016 Facebook group yet? If so send the link please! Thanks!

For those of you waiting to hear back... Uthscsa has sent about 180 prematch acceptances out so far. This means that there are plenty of spots left. It takes over 300 acceptances to fill the class 🙂

Any idea how many more pre-match offers they intend to make? Will they send close to120 more offers before the end of the year, or are they about done with prematch and will fill the rest through the match?

Do either of you have any idea what the status is in terms of out-of-state acceptances? Is UTSA still sending some out? Thanks!

They aren't done with prematch, but I doubt they'll send out 120 more offers. They do send out acceptances in December, but I think they are relatively more limited to those who interviewed later (i.e. after early November-ish). I know it's tough, but try not to think about it. It only makes it seem longer. UT relies pretty decently on the match - I would guess even more so this year. They like to make sure that people want to go here.

I know.. thanks for the kind words, but it's just so hard to keep waiting patiently... especially since this school isn't just "another school" I'm interested in. It's my hometown, with all my family and friends, and the program at which I feel the most natural "fit". I know I'm a lot luckier than many since I've already pre-matched elsewhere, but this is the one school I really wanted to get into. If I'm not going to pre-match, I'd rather that they just tell me as much. Then I could at least sort of relax and wait for the match. As it is, each time my email tab shows "Gmail - Inbox (1)" my heart starts racing. 🙂 It's not healthy.

However, according to the USNews report (screenshot below) it seems like the numbers should be a little better than only 120 more offers total remaining to go out. If they've sent out ~180 thus far, that accounts for only about a third of all the acceptances they've granted in years past.

*sigh* looking up this stuff only makes me more stressed, though.

what does everyone think about wearing sunglasses during the interview? I was thinking about some slick aviators with mirror lenses, intimidate the interviewer texas hold 'em style.

If you're a resident, I would also suggest bringing a revolver and holster. It's a way to show that you're a real Texan, and it's a great conversation starter too.

all good ideas. OOS ppl: don't be caught of guard by the faculty 10-gun salute signaling the beginning of interviews, a standard texas practice. interviewers take startling as a sign of weakness
 
the day I was there they had a real live execution by firing squad out in front of the medical buildings! It was pretty cool...
 
I have only received the one-page letter as well. Did you respond by emailing them you would accept your place?

Yah I just emailed them, didn't realize there was a two week deadline on the mailed letter.
