I interviewed recently and Dr. Jones told us that they were going to be very careful not to fill up the class too quickly or overfill the class.

So maybe they are going to try to rely heavily on the match this year to fill the class?

Well when I interviewed he said that they were going to keep 50-60 spots open for match.

It kind of seems like all the Texas schools are being a little more cautious with their pre-matches. Just based on the sdn responses from this year vs last year, it seems like fewer people have been accepted on November 15th this year. I guess that's good news if you interviewed late or are waiting to interview at some schools.

what's weird is...nobody i know at any school has heard from san antonio....

How are we even sure that SA sent out acceptances yet :S ? What if the one person who said they have was just screwing with our minds 😀

I mean just statistically speaking, somebody on sdn should have pre-matched even if they only sent out like 20 or 30. It's odd.

It is weird. My friend called and I didn't believe her so I called myself, but they did send them. Sucks ...

I doubt they sent as many as 20 30 then. There had to be someone from SDN then. I'm thinking more like 10 - 15 right now *humph*

Question:

So lets say San antonio sent out 20 acceptances and there is no1 on SDN. Would that mean that if I'm seeing 5 - 6 people accepted to other schools on SDN, they sent around 100 acceptances?

I guess my question is, on average how many acceptances do schools send out with each batch of prematches?

maybe they send out a few first then their main batch later. Same thing was going on in the tech lubbock thread, where like 2 people got pre-matched before 2 p.m and then like 15 more got it at 2.

I know the first two guys who were accepted in the morning were legit and not trolls because one mentioned the acceptance video, which was real.

The lady I talked to said that they weren't sending anymore out today.

After a long day of not hearing anything from ALL of my schools, I heard back from San Antonio.

ACCEPTED, 3:24 PM.

Just got accepted!!!! First choice, only interview so far, pre-match!

I got the email at 3:19 central time.

I was accepted!!! I'm going to be a doctor!!!!!!!!

wow, congrats you guys, would you guys mind sharing when you interviewed?

I wonder if the rest of any prematch offers will come soon (within the next week) or if they'll wait until mid-December and just do one more batch before the year ends.

take this with a grain of salt, but from perusing through the previous UTHSCSA threads during this time, it seems that for people that have interviewed august and september and possibly early october are those that get prematch offers on the 15th of november. from hereon after, about every 1 or 2 weeks, another batch comes out. last year, prematch offers went out till december 30th (for someone that interviewed mid december actually)

Accepted at 3:24 pm! I'm so excited. Interviewed September 19th. Good luck to everyone.

Accepted at 3:19PM! In-state, interviewed September 19th.

I emailed them yesterday with that question, Belinda said that formal letters will be mailed in the next few days with instructions on accepting an offer.

There is still hope, folks! I got my interview invite this afternoon.

Does anyone know how kind they are with rescheduling?

Congrats! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get a pre-match before Christmas, but if not there is still the match (which I hear they are trying to utilize more this year).

Rescheduling wasn't too much of a problem earlier in the interview cycle. But now I don't know... when is your date? Moving to an earlier date may be tough, but you shouldn't have a hard time moving to a later date if you have a compelling reason to need the switch. Just call tomorrow and ask.

San Antonio interviews until mid-December, so if you're looking to push back your interview date, you might run into some problems.

Congratulations!!!

I declined my interview invitation this morning. Figured might as well give someone else the chance since I have at least one pre-match and no money left for interviews.

I also received an interview invite this afternoon (Complete 8/8).

The email states that the staff is unable to reschedule interviews "at this time". But the email states nothing regarding an applicant finding another applicant who would want to switch interview dates with them, and then requesting an official switch. (Just a thought...)

Congrats to those who pre-matched here! To those that did, is this anyone's first choice in schools?

Pre-matched, I withdrew yesterday... Good luck guys!

Wow... how many people pre-matched and withdrew? Is it because of the LCME probation or just preference for other schools?? (not directed only at you Techmed07, but others too)

This is my first choice school and I pre-matched. The only school I might consider putting above it would be UT Houston because I have more interest in living there than San Antonio, but I really liked the atmosphere at UTHSCSA and San Antonio does have less traffic and lower living costs which is also good. So it's basically a toss up for me, but San Antonio showed me some love so I'm showing it back.

I'm all for going here if they showed me some love. 😉

So I sent a short update letter today via email and asked about my status. Dr. Jones simply replied with "you are still being considered by the committee". I guess that's the usual response? I mean, the admissions office will always tell us that we're under evaluation until our apps are released at the end of the interview season right?

Thanks for the offer! Thankfully, I worked it out already, though. 🙂

The email awesomely says they'll consider rescheduling requests from those coming from out of state... which I am! And they did! They were very nice, and offered to see if there were any openings on Dec 5th. But, I ended up just pushing it a week later to Dec 19, when I'll be home for Christmas vacation anyways. 🙂

I received my acceptance email on the 15th, however I checked TMDSAS this afternoon and UTHSCSA was not listed as one of my prematches. Is anyone else having this problem?😕 This is my top choice, Im just scared to decline my other offers before I see UTHSCSA on TMDSAS

Do you mind sharing which other offers you have and why UT SA is your first pick out of them? I'm having a hard time deciding between schools myself *humph*

A&M and TCOM. San Antonio is my first choice for several reasons (friends, family, I have a house not far from the school so I'll be able to save $ on living), but I also went to UTSA for undergrad and did most of my shadowing and research through UTHSCSA. I just feel really comfortable at the school and felt the same way even after my interview.

I really want an II from UTHSCSA. I've got Southwestern and UTMB scheduled, but no love from SA yet. Anyone know if I should expect to hear from them this coming week and no later if I want to even get the interview?

I received an interview at TCOM...and a rejection letter. UTHSCSA is the only other school that I had interviewed at so I'm glad that I got the prematch and unless I happen to get any other interviews elsewhere, it's where I'll end up.

I have no problem with the LCME probationary status. Does anyone here really think they're in danger of losing their license? Highly unlikely.

No, I don't think they're in any danger of losing their accreditation from LCME. I think that they just took too long in implementing their new curriculum.
